Sorry to make a tangent from the current discussion, but I wanted to ask about the TE2’s lever again. A while ago (here specifically), I asked about the problem I was having with the lever and hitting diagonals. I have been taking the advice I got from this forum and started practicing since then with little positive result. I can only hit diagonals about 10-20% of the time, and I have to ride the gate to do so. It’s been a very frustrating and discouraging experience.
On a side note (I have a point I’m getting to, don’t worry), I have also mentioned that I bought the GGXrd Sanwa/ebten stick that I have been keeping in storage as a collector’s item. I decided to pull it out of storage to try it out and compare it to the TE2’s lever (both are all Sanwa parts) to see if it’s really me that’s the problem. I try not to blame my tools if I can help it. Suffice to say, I could hit diagonals much easier (80%+ of the time) and my execution got a lot better by far just by switching sticks. The lever control feels much tighter on this stick.
I had the same issue with the weird bubble thing underneath the plexi. I never had an issue with rattling and I haven’t tried to swap out buttons so I didn’t have issues with those. I had a Round 1 TE for PS3 and I had this TE2, and by my preferences and standards, I’d say I barely like the TE2 more than TE1. The main thing that sells it for me is the quick release, comes with that flathead/hex screwdriver with a dedicated slot to store it, and the foam bottom. Based on the PCB lag test, I like how the TE2 performs better than Round 1 TE in regards to input latency; but, it’s kinda moot if we’re just talking about the case because one could just swap out PCBs. Ultimately, I gave away my Round 1 to one friend and sold my TE2’s case to another friend.
If you want to get a Hori VLX, Arcade Shock ships them internationally. I could imagine, from what others said, that customs and etc. fee could add up and may be a pain; but if you have the dosh to drop on it, at least there “is” a way to get this stick. Last time, Arcade Shock reported they had less than 59 units left up for ordering online for. The rest they’re keeping for SCR and EVO to purchase first come first serve.
So an alternative other than ordering from Arcade Shock’s website is to get a plain ticket over here and go to EVO then snag one ASAP, before they’re all gone. If you were going to come here for EVO anyways and spend that money to do so, might as well save a bit more money to grab a Kuro VLX and fly back home with one.
Got a replacement and it’s even worse than before. Still has air bubbles and now one of the buttons has a big mark on it. Somehow the plexi already had random stuff underneath it when I got it.
Mine came with the air bubbles(moisture) and I got rid of it with a microfiber cloth, mine also had stuff under the plexi and the underside was scratched/marked up as was the art but they sent me a new plexi but not art.
Going to get a plexi and art from Art if I decide to keep this stick, probably will sell it though as I’ll be getting a monster VLX Kuro.
Lucky little thing. It’s way too expensive on import to buy unfortunately even as a somewhat collector, I’d absolutely LOVE a VLX though, haven’t ever been able to try one out.
Yeah, the TE2 seems to be really shit in terms of product quality and ergonomic design, I have no idea how they seemed to have taken a step down from the solid design of the original TE. My Round 2 is miles better. Too bad I need the TE2 for Guilty Gear.
the art feels really lumpy underneath, should I peel it off and clean off whatever is being used to stick it onto the top panel? Feel like that’s what’s causing the air bubbles. Using a cloth didn’t get rid of moisture. The sad thing is that they couldn’t even be bothered to package anti-moisture packs with my replacement.
I got the stick today and Im so dissapointed. moisture, plastic chipped off on the side and the art looks like it was printed with a cheap paper and low quality ink… I love the design but if I pay 200 dollars I expect it to be perfect.
That’s a shame. I have a regular TE2 for PS4 preordered for next month and I’m sure I’ll have some of those issues. I think the moisture/oil spots/bubbling issue may be caused by the artwork material interacting with the plexi. I’ll be swapping out the artwork for something else so I’m definitely gonna try different types of paper options when the time comes. Probably swap out the plexi for something else as well.
Just be careful when you remove the existing artwork to access the plate screws. I ended up with bubbles between the laminate and the artwork, ruining it in the process. Stupid adhesive…
Hope they come out with stand-alone side panels for this like they did the original TEs. I have a stick and some buttons I’d really like to use with this.
guys is there anyway i can use my headset with my new stick plz let me know. i was thinking about using the pad to plug it in then switching accounts to the stick idk if that works
markman isnt replying to my tweets, am i doing something wrong with my twitter or is he just busy? Also, cleaning the plexi and art didn’t work at all, it just looks worse now. Tempted to sell this and get an atrox instead, as there seems to be no solution to most problems with this stick.
MarkMan’s a BusyMan. Be patient. You could even try his ask.fm, though I won’t link it here. He tends to give quick replies on ask.fm unless he’s on a trip or something.
I know he’s busy but I left a tweet months ago and he never replied so I don’t know if I messed up with my twitter settings or something as he’s replying to everyone else’s tweets.
