Seems like MS policies get looser as they get more desperate for business.
The XBOne only TE2s and 360 only TE2s aren’t making MS look like a cost effective place to take people’s fighting game business. The PS4/PS3 dual compatible sticks along with most of the games of the FGC currently going Sony, made the decision of which console/fightsticks to invest in an easy one.
All of a sudden MS is allowing dual compatible controllers, something I’m sure Mad Catz would have done to begin with were it allowed at the time.
So, are the policies of locking out legacy fightsticks & forcing pcbs not to be common ground stupid decisions that likely hurt their consumers: Yeah, probably. But, at least they’re smart enough to see when they’re at a competitive disadvantage from these policies and are now moving to change them.
So I got someone on Chat support finally. They are going to send me a replacement plexi when they get some in stock. They wont send me replacement art though. They said the USF4 art is limited and they said they wont send me art from any other TE2 either. So yay i got something…I still don’t find this to be a satisfactory resolution of a damage $200 product but I guess there is nothing more I can do except vote with my money and not buy from them anymore.
So the second batch xrd sticks still have the shifting plexi glass problem. A ghetto way to fix this until I can get a new plexi glass was to put saran wrap under and it doesn’t move at all anymore lol. How did you guys request for one? did you just call and said the plexi glass was shifting and damaging the art? Also had one of the hooks on two buttons that hold it in place snapped back when trying to remove them. So I have two buttons that kinda pop up since it only has one hook holding it…
@MarkMan
Got my 2 te2 ps4 sticks last month, and 2 360 te2 this week, noticed all ps4 osbf30s damaged on ps4, 360s seem okay but have not inspected as thoroughly. Black retention on one side broken on all 16 buttons. Known issue?
Also, 360 has no lock button? Has this been explained yet?
Yeah, I have to say this thing with the broken button retention tabs is becoming “common”. I had one of the clips “break off” under very little pressure when replacing two of the Sanwa OBSFs for another color. This was odd because I have installed and reinstalled many such buttons on many sticks and this is the first case I had ever seen of the Sanwa retention tabs not being “tough as nails”. I thought, “One button I’m not using anymore: whatever”. But, I’ve now heard enough mentions of this same issue from multiple people on this forum for it to be a little concerning.
Yeah it’s weird, some I can push the 2 tabs hard as hell to get them in and out of my sticks and some as soon as I push it in all the way it just cracks as if it’s made out out some brittle cheaper plastic, none of my TE2 broke yet because I haven’t removed any yet.
Just send in a ticket to the Mad Catz part in support.madcatz.com about the plexi not being cut properly and it’s shifting and scratching your artwork so send you a replacement plexi when they have a in stock.
TE2 just came in, and it already has a somewhat bad walking issue. Did Madcatz QA this product? I was planning on replacing the plexi down the road, because I assumed the issue would crop up over time- but not within the first 20 seconds of me opening the box. Hold the plexi in place with something, use four holes in the corners with posts in the case to hold it in place.
This is a $200 arcade stick, it’s a luxury item but it’s more expensive than the previous TEs, or the HRAP V4. Hell it’s the same price as the KI TE2 and that had extra hardware with the LED board.
Oh well, nothing I can’t fix, still pretty shit way to be introduced to owning a product. No, i’m not interested in Madcatz replacing the plexi for me because it’s going to have the same issue because there’s nothing holding the plexi in place, at least with a plexi from Arthong the buttons will hold the plexi in place and I won’t feel like a DJ with a turntable.
I will be poking around the stick at some point today to see if it’s common ground or not, may not be until after work.
Did the Sony PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition use different sanwa buttons than the TE2? They seem less stiff than my Te2 buttons. I like them better. Where can I get a set ?
Hmm theres definitely a noticeable difference. The PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition buttons are much easier to press than the TE2. Much softer/lighter. Just feel way better. Is it because they are broken in or something ?
I have a question I preordered the Ultra SF4 PS4 stick from the Madcatz store, They are not shipping out till late March 2015 and the funds already got taken out of my bank account. Will the funds return and I get charged again once item is shipped?
Also different cases will have a dramatic difference on how the parts in a stick feel. The TE2 has more open space on the inside, different top panel/plexi etc. This will be felt when you play on it.
Okay, so good news. The PS3/PS4 TE2 is (almost entirely?) common ground I can get continuity on ground for everything on the PCB except for the connector going to the front (closest to the player) that lights up the Madcatz PCB. That’s not really needed for a dual mod so whatever, play ball.
