Official USFIV/GGXrd/P4U TE2 Thread

@Pskelly‌ @Tensho‌ I heard back and the Mad Catz rep said they would only send a plexi because of the “stock limitations” of the Art. I replied back saying i’d be glad to wait and that the art itself was more of a concern to me than the plexi.

Additionally I got my TE2 panel from Art and its fantastic. For anyone interested, it feels thicker than the stock plexi but sits at the same height differential to the bezel…which is very hard to notice.

That’s great that the current plexi he sells works pefectly, it doesn’t shift around at all? And buttons are perfect without the clear washers it comes with?
I wouldn’t be surprised if they never get the Xrd art in, unless they request it right from Mad Catz Japan or something

@d3v or whoever else happens to know, do you know what type of special quick disconnects they use for the TE2 (with the release tabs)? Would like to buy since I need to replace a couple of mine (have a ticket set up to possible ask Mad Catz to send me replacements). Again, a part number would be nice since it seems the individual who asked the same question on page 10 has been ignored.

Also, can you mod the button connector/harness with different colored wires? Thinking of doing it as a project in the near future.

Thanks in advance for answering these questions! Loving the stick so far! And thanks for the SRK review of the Xrd TE2. Very informative and wish I saw it before attacking the quick disconnects with my pliers. >.<’

AFAIK, they’re MadCatz exclusive.

Seems to be the case since I can’t find anything through searches. Hope I can get replacements from Mad Catz. Thanks for the input!

Nothing wrong with using normal QD’s we all have been for years and if you put it on properly it will never get loose from playing

QDs Vs. Pliers

Pliers Win.

Fatality.

(Seriously though, I could see how this could happen since no one has seen QDs like this on a Stick before. I was getting fairly frustrated with my traditional flathead screwdriver removal technique, before I noticed the new little tabs. A small mention of the new QD type in the official instructions would have been nice).

Has anybody’s stick shipped? Markman said a page back they’d be shipping that day.

I believe that was mentioned when the usf4 te’s were announced… I know I’ve seen it on Facebook

Facebook and the Product Announcement webpage (from 6 months ago) aren’t the main places I’d put this key information were I the manufacturer of this product. I can’t even say they’re the “go to” places I’d look as a new consumer who is trying for the first time to change the buttons on their supposedly easily modifiable stick (I’d check here personally). Still, one line of print in the instruction pamphlet might have saved them some RMAs.

It was posted on here too, front page when they announced the usf4 version as well…but agreed there should be something included with the actual Te2 when purchased

Anyone used screw-ins on their TE2 yet? I’d think that metal bar or even the mounting plate section might get in the way? I don’t have my screw-ins on hand to test it because I lent out my stick.
Was planning to buy more screw-ins but I have a feeling they won’t fit without some modding… yay

Could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the joystick mounting plate is exactly the same fashion as on the TE1s. Which is fine for all screw in buttons except for K1, which you have to slightly have to bend the metal. IIRC you can still get the nut in, but you can’t turn it easily without prying the metal back a bit.

More precisely, you have to use a Seimitsu nut since it slides under the mounting plate. Sanwa nuts are a no go.

I plan to use Seimistu snap-ins so I guess it should be fine

Somewhere in the instructions would’ve been perfect since that’s the first place I looked. Public announcements are hit or miss since I hardly frequent Facebook and I also wasn’t interested in owning a USF4 TE2 so I wouldn’t have seen it in announcements regarding that stick. I could take off the QDs from the Qanba I owned with the sleeves on so I assumed the same process with the TE2. The sleeve, more or less, hid the special release tabs from me. Just glad I didn’t ruin the case and that QDs are replaceable, but I might end up replacing all of them cause I’m extremely OCD like that. /:

Can someone provide input on my other question that hasn’t been attempted at yet? I’d like to replace the button wires and make them black or some other color. Can I either: 1. Make my own harness by buying a matching connector and wiring it myself; 2. Modifying the existing harness by removing and replacing the wires with different colored ones. Would like to to know if this is possible or not.

This is Tech Talk, so the answer to questions like these will always be yes. It’s all a matter of finding the right parts or to make a new harness, or simply cutting up the existing wiring and splicing black 22AWG on them.

For anyone who wants a shot of the PCB, enjoy.

For anyone wondering, I wasn’t able to completely remove it since the wires for the rear USB cable connector are soldered onto the bottom of the board.

Sweet. Glad I’m in the right place. Looks like what I want to do is found in this video from 2m40s-5m (youtu.be/S9xeg_3eREc?t=2m40s). I imagine the pins aren’t reusable so what are they called? Also, I see references to Boscam, FatShark, and ImmersionRC for the connector (I don’t know anything about these companies) but I’m not having any luck finding a 16-pin connector of this type for sale. Looks like removing the wires is the way to go.
