Looks that way, I paid $368 for mine on eBay…it’s pricey but at least you won’t have to wait for the restock which won’t be until next month (if that), not to mention the back orders.
Why would you do that? Amazon.co.jp has almost all of them in stock for around $175-180. Use a forwarding service and save some money/get a jp exclusive.
The washer does actually serve a purpose though: it prevents the plastic on the spring base from wearing on the plastic where the washer was at. I mean you can probably get away without it for a good many years, and a replacement JLF is pretty cheap when it does wear out, but I’d try to find a way to get the washer on there without it “hopping” around. If flipping it upside down didn’t do the trick, the Mad Catz SE solution was to glue it down to make it stay put. I can’t say I recommend that doing that either though. I’d probably be using the warranty and opening a ticket to see if they will replace the JLF in your new stick.
I noticed the ‘rainbow’ effect when I received mine, but the plexi mobility didn’t start until just today. There seems to be a sweet spot where it will not move for the most part, until it is pressed on from the wrong angle, and then needs to have the frame reset to get it to stop moving again.
I looked a bit closer, and the problem seems to be related to the base art placement, the cut of the plexiglass, or some combination of the two.
On the lower right side of my stick, you can see that the art creeps up on to the plastic that is meant to prevent the plexi from moving around:
(Without plexiglass)
This allows it to move up on to the lip and enables mobility of the upper left side as well, as can be seen here:
The movement has caused some white scratches (the more significant ones) to the plexi, and (more minor) to the artwork itself.
It seems to create them in places where there seem to be ‘bubbles’ under the base artwork.
You can see the scratches resulting from the movement along with the ‘rainbow’ effect in this picture:
The rainbow does not seem to be the result of moisture, but instead the result of the artwork not being perfectly flat. It appears in about the same location after cleaning and re-seating as MarkMan suggested.
I don’t believe these things would occur for everyone.
It doesn’t seem to be a design fault, but rather a QA issue regarding the placement of the art that happens to cascade into the other issues people are running into.
I’d assume MarkMan would suggest putting in a ticket and messaging him as with the other cases, but would you also recommend discontinuing use until we get a response, or would be it alright to use it as normal in the mean time?
Starting to get worried about my order from Japan, been nearly a month and nothing seems to have happened (not from madcatz directly though) so will be keeping any eye out for MarkMan announcing the next bunch of GGXrd PS4 TE2s, if my order from Japan hasn’t shipped I’ll try and order one from the US and try to figure out a way to send it over to the UK =/
@sigmae I got the same problem, my plexi shifts around a lot and it and the artwork came with scratches and scuffs(and tons of hairline circular scratches on the plexi), sent in a ticket about 3 days ago and no reply yet.
Not really, as I haven’t used one in years. I have read a number of good things about Tenso online though. I had signed up with them to get a stick from Amazon japan just before I was able to find the HRAP hayabusa locally.
Basically you sign up with them and they “give you” a japanese address. You then buy things normally, using your real name and this address assigned to you. They receive the items and you pay their fee+ shipping back to you. Based on the chart on their site it was looking like $40 extra for the TE2 (their fee+ regular shipping to the US).
@Pskelly @Sigmae @Tensho @Hazellnut134 Just put my ticket in as well along with some photos. Did any of you guys forward your ticket # to @MarkMan or should we just wait to hear back from support?
I got an email back for my ticket and they said they can replace the plexi but not the art that was all scuffed up(pretty discouraging) they didn’t say when they were shipping it though, hope they don’t expect me to ship back the stick just so they can slap on a new plexi lol.
Yeah, a limited edition stick with scuffed up art.
I would hold of on Arts Hobbies plexi, his page said the TE2 plexi was 2 sizes 1/8" and 1/16" and he sells 1/16", but these TE2 that we have are 1/32" or something close I seems the same thickness as my 1/32" plexi from my fightstick pro, so I’m not sure how fit will be under the bezel and how it will be seeing how the lip around the art and plexi is like 2mm or so, could work or might have problems or maybe the bezel will not be flush after the plexi is on or maybe it will be fine, I emailed him to see if he got any of the new TE2’s yet try out his 1/16" plexis on it.
Do you have the same issue with the art rising up on the edges?
If so, I don’t think a new plexi would actually correct the issue…
If that is the case I would bring that to their attention.
i’ve actually been using the panel that I purchased from Art for my KI edition, just so that i can play GG without worrying about adding scuffs. It fits great.
You’re using it on your XRD/USFIV stick and the plexi fits perfect and doesn’t move around at all? That’s good to know it works fine on these newer TE2’s, could you take pics to show how flush the bezel is with a 1/16" plexi on the new TE2?
The edges seem fine I think it’s the cut of the plexi that’s the problem, also the bezel doesn’t keep it down and the buttons not holding down the plexi doesn’t help either. No buttons no screws just a bezel and a small lip and it slides around with ease.
