That statue was awesome! It is really well scupted. I kinda do wish there was a smaller PVC version…soooo
Do you guys plan on doing PVC statues?
A new poster with the SF3 cast would be AWESOME. I would definitely buy it.
The SF4 cast, it’s a bit too early to call for me :bgrin:
I plan on buying the SF Tribute when it is out.
I REALLY hope that in the SF3 comic, that there is less of an emphasis on Chunli, and more of an emphasis with Urien/Gill and Alex/Gill. It also would be epic to have a meeting between Oro and Akuma.
Why doesn’t Udon… down-size? Udon still hasn’t been able to do a regular **monthly **comic with consistent quality. It always ends up late, with strange schedules (like hiatus and so on) and/or with multiple artists filling in.
Pick one comic, do it monthly, with one artist.
That’s it.
After it’s done, move to the next title.
Also, make sure you don’t give different titles to the same artist (like Alvin Lee showing up in Marvel titles and Street Fighter at the same time).
You guys need to stop trying to tackle everything and commit.
I’m 100% *sure *retailers have told you all this before.
-YES,PLEASE do not focus much on Chun Li. she should be a very small focus at best, at least until after 12 or so issues should she not be much in it at all. focal points on also like Endless said with Urien/Alex/Gill(which would also include Necro/effie,Twelve and his kind)
-Akuma and ORO must fight! This is something I have waited forever for. I want to see this.Udon, I know you guys won’t let me down like you didn’t with Akuma vs Gen.
-EACH AND EVERY sf 3 character must be featured in this comic! DO NOT leave out any of them! INCLUDING HUGO/POISON/Q/TWELVE/REMY/MAKOTO/ETC
thanks from a fan who is desperately craving and awaiting this fantastic sf 3 series since you guys are the only ones who is going to provide it!
*Please,Matt and those at Udon consider that Chun Li is having a movie, own comic,in every version of the comics, and main girl from sf 4, so please don’t overload us with too much chun li in sf 3 comic as well, and don’t have her be in any way a focal point and instead focus more on the other girls-Ibuki,Makoto and Elena
From start to end, how much time was spent redrawing the art for STHD?
Most of the folks who’ve been following the work on HD Remix know that your general direction on the art is based on Capcom artist Edayan’s work. Was there a point in the design process where you felt that style needed tweaking? Did any other influences take precedence?
I’m a huge storyline buff! (Don’t know if you can answer this one…) How accurate will the new endings be compared to the Street Fighter II portion of the SF Plot guide by Tiamat? Will you take a page out of ST Revival on GBA or will you go in a completely different direction?
Does Gouki STILL look like a monkey with no neck in his horse stance? LOL
Two parter: will Ken’s and Ryu’s animations continue to look ultra wonky - and are their heads still somewhat angled toward the screen?
We won?t be doing Final Fight in that way, no… BUT… well, let?s just say if you like Metro City, keep reading Street Fighter II Turbo
Capcom gives us pretty much free reign story-wise. We of course send everything to the high-ups at the big C for approvals, but as far as I recall they?ve never asked us to change anything. Not that they don?t care, but they have faith in what UDON produces. In fact the main comment Ono-san had for UDON at our last Capcom meeting was ?Just keep on doing what you guys do!?
Don?t want to give away any spoilers yet, but I promise we will be covering a pile of the next generation of fighters in our sf3 stories. And if SF3 comics turn out to be popular then of course we?ll do more!
Since she has appeared in an SF game (SF Alpha 3 MAX) we could use Ingrid if we wanted to. Some ideas have been tossed around, but nothing has stuck yet. If we do use her it won?t be for a while, but she does make a few appearances in the Street Fighter Tribute book. (In fact every playable character appears in the book at some point except for one… poor Eagle!)
Heh, it?s of course one of the obvious matchups we could do. No concrete plans yet, but one of our hopes for the SF3 stories is to do some interesting matchups that couldn?t actually happen in the games.
UDON doesn?t decide on those projects these days, others just come to us when they need designs or art. But several companies now have SF statue & figure licenses, so you?ll have to bug them!
The new Turbo series will essentially be monthly, with a 1-month break every 3 months to catch up. But don?t fret because with 3 street fighter series going, every month will have at least 1 newSF comic come out (usually 2 once 2009 gets going).
No problem with artists being over used, since there is no art team crossover at all between our 3 titles. No even on colours, since both Chamba and Omar Dogan are also colouring their own titles. They?re multi-skilled fellows!
1)We worked on HD for over a year doing the sprites, backgrounds, char selects, and endings… heck of a lot of work!
2)If you?ve seen the earliest release sprite examples, you?ll notice there was a major style change at one point. The original style(more heavily rendered) was dropped largely due to the problems we found arose when animating the sprites within the limits of the original game code. I think the simpler colouring style (influences more by Alpha) worked out really great in the end.
3)The endings are top secret before the game comes out, but I think you?ll want to try beating the game with every character, just to see what we came up with.
4&5) Not sure what the specific issues you mentioned are, but we did go over every character for tweaks after Capcom tested them within the game.
-Will your covers be more “accurate”? There were some times when covers featured characters who didn’t show up in the issue which wound up being rather disappointing.
-While the book needs to be centered on the events of SF2, will the Shadowloo dolls get proper closure in upcoming issues?
-In a sort of connected question, was Santamu’s ethnicity ever confirmed? There was minor debate a while back over her name translating in Vietnamese but her seeming to be African.
-Will Eagle and Maki cameo? Well, I sould probably just ask about Eagle since Maki is connected to the Final Fight characters and I remember there being difficulties in doing them justice due to licensing.
Has UDON ever considered ending the monthly books and publishing the stories as GN/TPBs?
2)Would UDON consider doing a “Shonen Jump” anthology jam featuring the Capcom licenses that would come out once a year?
3)Ever though of making Street Fighter Legends a monthly book, with different, revolving creative teams attached to different characters? Something like DC’s Superman/Batman series?
3)Is there a chance we could get a darker, more tragic Legends, featuring characters like Akuma, Gen, Sagat or Balrog, for example.
So, does that mean you will leak some or all of them when the game does come out? My previous impression was that you wouldn’t be changing any outcomes or script.:wonder:
Most of the covers for Turbo will be very story accurate, besides the few special covers that have a good reason for other characters. Turbo #1 for example features all 8 original playable SFII characters.
Won?t get into detailed spoilers, but even though SFII is the focus, many non-SFII characters will appear, including at least a few dolls.
I don?t think we were specific, but as far as I know we intended Santamu to be Vietnamese. Her skin & hair however may have printed a smidge darker than intended.
No specific plans for Eagle. As for Maki and other characters first appearing in Final Fight… any licensing difficulties no longer exist. They?re fair game
The main reason any publisher still does monthly comics is the up-front cost of producing artwork. 120+ pages of artwork upfront is a LOT to pay for, but if we?re paying for it in 22 page chunks, and getting money back from the comics every month, it helps spread out the costs a lot.
Well, let us get on track with Street Fighter books again first, then we can look at a bigger project like that!
We?ll probably keep the same format for now, each new Legends will be a short mini-series. This gives us the chance to do a new #1 for each seperate story arc, which signals a good jumping on point for new readers. About the rotating creative teams…Even though Ken Siu-chong & Omar Dogan have done the first two Legends series doesn?t mean other UDON creators won?t get a shot, eventually other creators will likely get a shot at a Legends story.
Mayyyyybe… Actually Chun-li Legends is a bit more serious than the last Legends series…prepare for at least one very dark and tragic moment.
1)We probably won?t be doing an SF1 comic exactly (I mean, we?ve already spoiled the ending of that tournament… Ryu wins!), but plenty of SF1 characters have shown up in our books already. We?ve had both Geki and Restu appear so far, and Lee has been mentioned a few times. More cameos like this will turn up over time.
2)That?d be great! Maybe one day we?ll get the chance to turn an udon story into animated form. For now though the closest thing is the animated UDON comics coming soon from Eagle One Media.
3)We are experimenting with digital distribution. Not sure yet if we?ll include the Capcom comics, but we have recently begun UDON Combo!, and online free anthology manga series. Check out it out here.
4)If you?d like the comics to be cannon then sure! With so many games, animes, comics, manga, movies… the fans are pretty much the ones who decide what is and is not cannon, so it?s up to you We do of course try to work as much of the game story and the ?spirit? of street fighter into our comics.
We probably will not be at NYAF this year. But if plans change it will be announced on udoncomics.com .
We?re not involved in the animated comics directly besides providing our artwork, so I don?t know for sure. But I would guess that it will be English only. As far as I know all of Eagle One?s dvd?s art English only.
Can?t give any more info on the endings, you?ll just have to wait and see in the game
Looks that way. Rising production costs have necessitated the cover price increase to $3.95, which is pretty standard these days for many independent publishers. With more dollars on the line for consumers though, we know it is even more important that the books come out on schedule, and that they are top quality.
Unfortunately, not going to happen. May come as a suprise but Street Fighter EX is not actually a Capcom game. It was produced by a company called Arika, and the Street Fighter name and characters were licensed to be included into the game (similar to Sonic in Smash brothers). The original characters (Skullomania, Pullum etc…) are owned by Arika, so we would need their permission. As for SF legends Sakura… um… SHHHHH!
