Official TEasy Thread: TEasy Strike is here!

I would recommend that you watch all the Teasy related videos on my youtube first, and the first page of the thread… then feel free to ask questions after that =D

If you thought TEasy strike was hot now, wait till plug and play LEDs arrive in about a month =D

Just got my TEasy strike in the mail! I lost one of the spacers though in the abyss of my stick :frowning: I tilted it every single way to no avail. But 3 was enough, it seemed. It’s nice and tight there. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult/frustrating to mount my PCB on top :stuck_out_tongue: The USB part seems easy enough though. Although my wire cutters are crap so taking off those zip ties was tough and I got some nasty wires still sticking out of my PCB

So I decided to put the wire in first. Is the punch terminal supposed to be pressed All the way down or just half way down. Because I’m not sure if I should press hard or not. Also (as far as I know) I stuck the wire as far in as it can go, but I still have around a quarter inch of wire left and my wires are a bit more than a half inch in length. That should be okay right?

Press them all the way down. once punched down give the wires a little tug, if they don’t move it’s good to go. You really shouldn’t have to press that hard to get it punched in, just some constant pressure. For reference, when you receive it the terminals were in the down and locked position.

Wait… are you referring to the ArcEye2 pcb’s or something else?

Purplearms is an LED pimp!

snip-

So what I want to do is get them in the down and locked position like when I received the board, right? Because that’s how my board looks like now. Do I have to raise them back up?

Also, what part do I clip and what do I clip with? Because it’s really frustrating for me trying to get the PCB down right >_< Easily the hardest part of the installation.

If the USB cable is punched in as per the directions, then leave it be. As I said, just give the wires a quick tug after you punch them down and if they don’t come out you’re good to go.

As for the clipping, use the picture in the OP and the original TEasy Mod install that I did as a reference. You’re clipping short the ends of the pins on the soldered connectors of the 360 PCB. Use a pair of wire cutters or flush cutters. Chances are you used wire cutters to clip the USB cable away from the 360 PCB.

Also, take your time with it, no use in rushing. Use the method I show in my TEasy Mod install video for a reference on clipping the board into place… If you get it clipped it but aren’t sure if it’s aligned, use the multimeter trick purplearms mentioned, or just take a few snapshots at different angles and post them up, I’ll be able to tell you if it’s aligned right before you plug it into your PC.

So I just basically clip down the entire second row of pins on the under-side of my 360 PCB? I got the USB part done.

Yes, read the pinout list and description in step 12, you want to clip down (shorten) the pins for the buttons, joystick directions, Left Stick, Right Stick, and XGUILD.

So I got a multimeter (It’s pretty cheap; GE 2524) but I have no idea how to get it to beep. It has a signal injection spot, maybe that’s it? But I get reading on some pins/contacts but none on other spots. So I’m guessing it isn’t aligned right

edit: Been trying for hours and nothing >_<

So I broke my TEasy and 360 PCB out of rage…

But I had spares so it’s cool

So I’m back to where I was. Would clipping the second row of pins help greatly? Also could I potentially do any harm by clipping the pins (i.e. Clipping the pins too short)? Thanks. Sorry for being an idiot when it comes to these things :stuck_out_tongue:

Plus I don’t seem to have the LS/RS/XGUIDE pins on my 360 PCB. So I’m guessing I just clip the second row.

Um, well don’t rage on anything

Yes, clipping down (as per the example), helps quite a bit with the cooperation of things. No, you can’t do any harm from clipping them, it’s near impossible to clip them too short.

Yeah… I can’t even clip one pin because both of my wire cutters are crap. They’re both way too big. >_< All I did was scrape the first pin… Any suggestions for setting it down? I probably watched both vids on how to set the board down over a dozen times :frowning:

lean the TE up a little so you can see underneath the 360 PCB while setting it down. Set the board down along the back long row of pogo pins as I do in my original TEasy Mod install video. Then gently clam shell it down, with the back row aligned the rest fall right where they need to be.

Edit:
Just do your best and then when you think you’ve got it clip it into place, take a picture at a few angles and post up, I’ll let you know if it’s aligned just by looking at it.

SON OF A ^@$%* ! The upper half of the upper-right hand corner of my clip broke and it’s not like spacers where if you lose one (like I did) you could make do… It was the weakest one but I didn’t think it would break D: I don’t think glue would help right? I’m screwed now…

Also… just in case there is a solution, there is supposed to be an extra pin right? I have one extra in a set of 5 pins when there’s only 4 pogos under it. And just to make sure it’s not the fault of the USB, I gave it 3 good tugs (not real hard) and the wire stayed firmly in the terminals. So I’m fine on that part, right?

Maybe it’s possible with 3 clips?

Dude, where in the UK are you based? I’d be happy to have a look at it for you free of charge if we can meet up. Something doesn’t sound quite right with what’s been happening in your experience to date, so would like to find out why.
