Official TEasy Thread: TEasy Strike is here!

to be clear about “unplugged from USB”, you mean not attaching the USB cable to the teasy?

Just unplugged from the PC/System. When checking continuity you shouldn’t have the boards powered.

Just a head’s up, I checked the USPS tracking and it looks like the parts are being delivered tonight.

Going to probably open up orders again along with that, and start putting boards together. Fair warning, I’m running low’ish on the round 1/2 version, but I’m trying real hard to eliminate as much future out of stock time (ordering parts now for the next run and such) as I can without over-reaching myself.

So the round 1/2 versions would be the regular TEasy Strike, not the TEasy strike S, right? I hope you open orders tonight  I’ve been eager to order one of these for a while. I missed the last run because I didn’t have my stick yet, so I didn’t know if the PCB was compatible lol.

everything looks to be plugged in correctly, verified on the 360 with button pushes. i couldn’t find any shorts between LEFT and GND. would it be worthwhile to check if LEFT is being shorted with something else on the 360 PCB while the two boards are mounted?

Yes, the TEasy Strike is round 1/2/SE compatible.

Silly question, but what happens when you have both boards clipped together, and have all other ribbon cables connected except for your joystick harness (disconnect from either the JLF or the board itself). Test this in both PS3/PC and passthrough/360.

i think i tested this last night with all pogos connected. iirc, left was still triggered in PS3/PC mode and passthrough didn’t work on PC without the joystick plugged in. i didn’t try it in the 360. i’ll verify this tonight and let you know.

Hey, I just checked my board again. And this is what I got. Here’s a pic. (Sorry it’s not very clear)

That looks exactly like http://www.phreakmods.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/0122111403.jpg which you said wasn’t a compatible PCB. So would I have to unplug all the connections, and take off that red gel, to make sure. Or am I pretty much already screwed.

EDIT: After taking a closer look, my PCB doesn’t seem to have those 2 metal circle things found in your pic, so maybe there still is hope xD But I’d still like some confirmation.

^ You’ll need to take a much clearer pic than that.

Also unscrew the board and turn it upside down to read what revision it is. If it has smd resistors hanging off the edge of the board with globs of badly applied solder, then it’s definitely Rev.A. Possibly one of MadCatz’s greatest FAIL moments. I mean… what the Hell were they thinking??

So would I have to clean off those red globs of gel on the screws? What’s that gel even for anyway…
But wouldn’t it be a giveaway if it doesn’t have those 2 metal circles (seen here: http://www.phreakmods.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/0122111403.jpg) between the first set of pins, and the 2nd 3rd set on the top? I just have a metal oval-shaped thing in place of it.

EDIT

Mine also has a few boxes printed on it which the one in the above link doesn’t. But I’ll try to remove the gel now.

The red crap is an adhesive, so the screws dont come loose over time… if you take a flat head screwdriver, and carefully chisel at it (try not to damage the pcb) it usually comes off in one piece

Just unscrewed it. It doesn’t have that silver oblong thing, so I’m safe

Wish I’d have checked back sooner, lol. Could have told you that from looking at the top

Yeah, that’s a round 1/2 PCB, you’re good.

so i just verified this with with all pogos and all ribbons except the joystick. PS3/PC mode still shows LEFT as active. 360/passthrough mode behaves as expected and LEFT is not active. this is also consistent with firmwares 3.0.0, 3.1.0, and 3.2.0.

i also ran another test with the boards together and nothing else connected. PS3/PC mode continues to show LEFT as active, and again this is consistent with firmwares 3.0.0, 3.1.0, and 3.2.0.

anything else i should try? :frowning:

Well I would’ve had to unscrew it either way once the board comes xD

Man, that’s really quite strange. Do me a favor and send an email, I can answer you much quicker that way: clayton@phreakmods.com

I have 2 more things I want to take a look at as my own sanity check, but will describe in the email since I always have my inbox open.

email sent. thanks.

I thought the TEasy’s would be up last night. Well, I hope they’re up tonight lol. But I understand that you have to assemble them and you don’t want to take orders so early that you won’t be able to fulfill them in a very reasonable time frame :stuck_out_tongue:

Will be up tonight, the pins were held at the post office yesterday so I’m picking them up tonight. In prep I’ve put together the remaining Round 1/2 boards, and will be working on the S versions throughout the week.

Will post up quick here when I open the option again, but I guarantee it will be up tonight.

Sounds great! I can’t wait to put this in my signed SF4 360 TE lol. I don’t even have a 360 so I’m just using a Hori SC4 stick. It’s not bad though.
