Ack! Replacement MCU? That sounds like it involves soldering.
Phreak, can you take a look at bencao74’s response and let me know what my best option is?

Answered via PM, in any case you won’t be required to do any sort of soldering at all. I think I’ll just swap your DS out with one I’ve got on hand though
Top! Thanks a lot!
Since it worked the first time on your PS3, it’s more indicative that something got bumped when you put everything back together. The one issue I have with these screw terminals is that the white/green (d-/d+) wires are kind of a pain to make stay unless you strip extra and fold it over.
It sounds a lot like what animaX went through when he put stuff together. Hmm, do me a favor and post up a quick snapshot of your install, specifically where the DS is mounted. If all else fails, do you have a multimeter handy? I’d like you to take readings on the lines from the top of the screw terminals.
Just looking over animaX’s post on that other forum, I see my USB cable isn’t pulled back to expose the wires nearly as much as his-- should I pull mine back more to make the wires less taut? Unfortunately I do not have a multimeter.
Just bought mine, just what I needed to make the jump into modding.I’ll leave some feedback as soon as my stick gets modded.
Yes, unscrew your wires, take off the little heat shrink wrap they’ve got on the USB cable and use a pair of wire cutters to slice the sheath a bit. This will give you extra wire to work with. Then strip a little extra on the d+ and d- wires, fold those over, and screw everything back into place. Give the wires a little tug to make sure everything stays where you put it. As for the thick black wire, the shield ground, I would just clip that guy off close to where you stopped slicing the sheath.
Oh, and to anyone who’s bought one of these guys from me and wants to do so. Do me a huge favor and drop some comments in the area under the TEasy Mod section of my site, it’d be really appreciated.
Phreak, left you a comment on your phreakmods site under the TEasy Mod section – maybe you should edit it before allowing – I said “tuse” instead of “to use”. Stupid typos.
Anyway, that board is packed up in the static bag(s) and I’ll ship in the morning. Please let me know when you have a replacement DS board headed my way. Thanks.
Got it! shipping today. Thanks!
Awesome, I appreciate it. Also, PM me your address again so that I know I have the correct one being used. If you want to send the old one via first class that’s fine, since it’s identical service <13oz and much cheaper. You just don’t get online print labels with first class
Just a last quick question since I couldn’t find the answer in the first post : is the board compatible with the TE S edition ? I’ve got a good deal on one at a french retailer which would save me quite a lot of money (shipping fees and customs are deadly expensive these days).

Thanks
the answer is in the first post and you would need the teasy mod S board
amazing what reading a first post will do for you
It would appear I’ve made everything worse somehow. After stripping and connecting everything again, it had the same problem. Checking everything again, the white wire seems to have been ripped or something, as many small wires are missing. It can just barely fit in, but plugging it into my PC doesn’t even have a pop-up anymore. Um, I guess I have to get a new USB cable or something? If I strip it any more, it won’t reach into the terminal at all. Ugh, how could I screw up so badly
edit: ok it is a super tight fit but it does fit, still shows up as unrecognized so it probably doesn’t matter much.
edit 2: This may not mean much, but on the 360 PCB, the tips where the USB cable on the back(the part that touches the TEasy) are all leaning off to the side. Could that be interfering? The Dual Strike is unrecognized even on it’s own, though.
Well, I guess I won’t be a prime example to represent the french community (How I could miss the “S” is beyond me)
Edit: wasn’t your PM
It sounds like the TEasy portion of things is working just fine, don’t worry about the solder joints. They lean a little bit but the connection from them is pretty solid.
Clean up the connections to the screw terminals, you have wire hanging out of the D+ line, and possibly a shoddy connection on the d- line as well. As I’m telling everyone, strip a little extra on those two lines then FOLD OVER the copper wire onto itself so that it’s a bit thicker and easier for the terminal to grab.
It might behoove you to try a new USB cable just as a sanity check, pull the DS out and see if there’s strands that have ripped out inside of the screw terminals. If there is then clean them out and try the new USB cable. Test out the Dual Strike ON IT’S OWN so we can eliminate variables.
Hey guys… A small number of people have had some difficulty with the install, so i’ve made a video doing a full teasy install from start to finish. Hope this helps!!! Post any questions here and i’ll update the video with annotations when i have some more time…
