Wow, I am going to have to agree with you there. At the time Sony updated the firmware so that it would work with the HRAP3, they were still producing PS3’s that featured backward compatibility.
Since that is no longer the case, and given the relatively small number of sticks being produced, what incentive does Sony have to update the firmware to support this stick? Very little, as far as I can see.
When I went to pre-order my TE on Sat. at GameCrazy the guy in front of me bought Gears of War 2. The only copy they had left was the one on the rack and it was opened. They explained to him that it was opened but still perfectly fine…then charged him the 59.99 new price. I wanted to mention it to the dude before he paid but I figure if he’s that dumb to not notice he deserves to be taken.
However, it didn’t lift my confidence on me getting my pre-order fullfilled on time.
Hello a newcomer along with the rest of the Jan 09 Wave.
I ordered a SE PS3 Fight Stick from Gamestop through Barnes and Noble!
I am going to attempt and become competitive with this game. I have been reading the many articles available on this site. I always used to play for fun on SNES with SF2Turbo!
Good luck to those who pre-ordered the TE sticks, I would get one, but I personally cannot justify the dinero on it and I need $$ for college books lol :(.
I’m totally pro stick, though I might snag one fight pad for the sake of company that comes over with their “Screw joysticks, I kick ass on a controller!”
hey markman, sorry if this questions has been asked and answered before, but can you switch out the buttons on the fightpad for sanwa buttons? do you have to do any soldering? thanks in advance. (LOL i kid, i kid! it seems that is always the questions when markman posts a new write up.) :wgrin:
I believe the TE’s are equipped with Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons which are clip ons. If I were to buy the Sanwa OBSN-30s (Screw ons) will they fit into the 30mm diameter holes or am I strictly only allowed to buy clip ons?
Any chance we’ll be able to see the inside of a FightPad? We’ve seen the insides of the SE and TE joysticks and it’s only fair that the FightPad’s privacy should also be violated.
Does MadCatz have any plans to release a non-licensed version of the FightPad in the future? I know you were forced to put that dumb button layout on the FightPad (left and right triggers are mapped LT and LB, what?!) to match SF4’s default button layout as a condition for obtaining the SF4 license. It would be awesome to own a generic FightPad with a button configuration that makes sense (X, Y, LB, then A, B, RB, with the triggers mapped as LT and RT).
Based on the construction of both SE and TE sticks, how easy is it to dremel holes on the side of both joysticks? If I decide to get a SE stick, I would want to plug the last two holes of the eight-button layout and remap LT and RT to the two 24mm buttons I want to add to the stick.
My only issue with this review is that the Saturn controller Jim posted in his NeoGaf impressions is not the true Saturn controller. I own both variations and the one I’m posting has a much better D-pad than the one Jim posted.
I noticed the back of the packaging for that Ken controller indicates other available variations of the controller (Ryu, Blanka…), but there is no Akuma. Is Akuma an X360 exclusive? Just curious as i dont think it was ever mentioned
That looks like a MadCatz bluetooh dongle… Do they come free with the PS3 pads then?! I haven’t seen that mentioned anywhere. If so, that’s pretty cool for PC users and it’s probably worth adding to the FAQ.
hm when i was paying off one of my sticks today, a guy at gamestop gave me the Pre-order page that’s supposed to go in their binder. It said that the sticks would be available on the 10th. I’ll scan it and post it after class.
yeah the local gamestop where i preordered my TE xbox 360 FS keep telling me they will get it the 10th too. they told me that since day one i preordered it. which was back in beginning of January.
