Official Street Fighter IV FightSticks & FightPad Thread (More on the way!)

How limited is limited though? Theirs no number of how many is being made. I think it’s unfair for those who bought a few to collect because of it’s rarity and hard to get factor only to find out that limited meant 50,000 units.

i think either way, you’re gonna get a quality product. if not, return it. i’m getting mine to use, and not to collect cause it’s no use to me if i don’t use it. it’d be a 6.5 pound paper weight…that costs 169 bucks.

geezus…look at that Fortknox of Sticks…I want to just dive into it (MarkMan’s workdesk)

holy…who’s living room has four TE sticks plugged into a PS3…Markman? lol lucky bastard

Got a chance to give both the TE and fightstick a go recently. Obviously, there isn’t much left to say about these remarkable sticks that hasn’t already been said, but I can say with a clear conscience that yes…these sticks are definitely good.

The TE is a behemoth. Unless you’ve got mitts like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, you’ll find a lot of room to rest your hands here. The base has a nice bit of weightiness to it, and there was minimal–if at all–sliding on the glass table it was situated on. The Sanwa buttons and stick were nice and smooth to the touch, and all the thoughtful touches to design and placement (start/select buttons on the rear, cord storage, etc) are spot on.

I suppose the only complaint I could leverage against it is that the plastic casing seems prone to some bumps and scratches. Of course, I don’t have one of my own to base this assertion off of, but from my quick evaluation it seems likely. Overall, however, this is definitely going to be the premiere stick of choice if you’re serious about your fighters.

As for the fightstick, one could definitely liken it to a Hori EX2 in size and quality. The disparity in parts between this and the TE is pretty noticeable, but having said that I’d still say that the fightstick is a solidly built peripheral. It’s a little stiffer, but completely playable. If I had to choose between this and an EX2 for an entry level stick, I would go with the fightstick. The art is nice, the size is nice and portable, and as with the TE, it’s got a good weight.

On that note, I’m going to try to add a fightstick to my pre-existing TE pre-order. Definitely some top notch peripherals we have here.

Pre-Ordered another (360 TE Stick) from Best Buy. Ship date in my cart says 2-4-09… So I have 2 reserved at my local Game Stop and 1 from BB. Prolly try to sell 2 of them on the bay to pay for the one I’m keeping, assuming they sell for profit which at this point I’m not sure they will.

There is another unboxing video here .
Amazing.

So BB is getting the TE a week earlier than GS?

HOLY FUCK! Sorry I’m pissed off… So I pre-ordered a TE stick with Best Buy. Its says your credit card won’t be charged until it ships. Well they instantly charge/put a hold on the funds for your purchase on you credit card after you pre-order. So I call the customer service at Best Buy for an explanation. First lady I get doesn’t understand English and transfers me to the Best Buy Credit application department. I hang-up and call again… Next guy I get speaks broken english and I hear kids screaming in the back ground. I ask the question and he says yes they put a hold on the funds until it ships and the **RELEASE DATE IS NOT CORRECT as they are shipping to people direct from manufacturer so they will ship when they ship. ** So, I ask the guy where is your customer service center located? He responds ARGEN-FUNCKIN-TINA!! (well without the fuckin) I respond HOLY HELL and hang-up. I know many companies out source thier customer service but Best Buy?! Sorry just venting as I would expect better service from the leader in eletronic sales in the US.

“Even if you don’t play Street Fighter, buy one, and sell it on ebay.”

Holy shit, this is not advice you should be giving, nor encouraging.

I hope Seth doesn’t get in trouble for saying that. But he does make a good point, the after market value for this thing is going to be huge.

Virtua Fighter Stick High Grade is a fine example of a limited print run stick that retailed for $100 and is now hard to come by under $175 in it’s price.

I personally pre-ordered my stick because I simply wanted to get a superior quality stick, with arcade grade parts right out of the box without any modification.

Although I am mighty tempted to get one of the lesser $70 sticks just to have one so I can mod in the future with real Sanwa parts.

If Markman never showed the guts of the Standard Edition FightStick, I would have probably never been interested in it, since I initially wanted to get just the TE and thought that would be enough, never figured that the standard one was built with a similar quality and care as the Tournament Edition FightStick.

Anyone read this months EDGE magazine?

It has a sweet 2 page interview in it with our very own markman…
The basis of the interview are the arcade sticks he helped design and its a damn good read. It also has a cool pic of mark and Ono-san and pics of the sticks.
If anyones intrested ill type it up or take pics and let you read it yourselves…

Im just not sure if I should dump it in here or make a new thread.

Nice work Markman. It dont get much better then getting your mug in the videogame bible that is EDGE:)

Oh, and while I was shopping I tried 4 different videogame stores and enquired about the TE stick, and every person behind the till looked at me with an exasparated look as if to say “oh man, not another person asking about them bloody sticks again” haha, man people are going nuts for them things…

Hype train on the sticks is getting a little ridiculous now, considering they’ve been basically sold out for weeks. I mean, encouraging people to hawk sticks on eBay now? :annoy:

wow they probably feel a little like nintendo and the wii

haha

the video i need to see now is somebody modding the ST stick

Seth has been telling people to buy it and sell it on ebay for weeks now. Its marketing now people who don’t play street fighter are thinking about buying them in hopes of making a killing on ebay.

I watched this video last night as well and that part stuck out for me (and knowing that the fightstick is easy to modify as well, that was nice), and I just didn’t like that one bit.

All that effort to make a high quality stick available for fellow gamers at a good price for what it offers so that later someone on the inside wants scalpers to grab as many as they can and take that opportunity from the people that it was designed for, that is just absurd and disappointing.

The people who it was designed for should have shown support and interest from the get go.

We had plenty of time and warnings about preordering, it would be our own faults if we didn’t get one.

That’s just the way life goes.

I have 2 on pre-order…one for each system…was about to get a 2nd for the 360 from BB, we’ll see. Although, I only paid $150 for both my TE’s… I think I will do fine, since Ive owned an HRAP 3 ( since 12/17/08, 1st stick ever ) & I just recently swapped in a bat top & some sanwa buttons. I actually like the bat top better than the balltop, eventho I have a blue transluscent Siemetsu bubble top, that I will not use probably.

Question I would like answered please: Is the square gate on the HRAP 3 “snapped” out? I couldnt find a tutorial anywhere on how to change it. I have an octo gate that I want to try out.

Thanks

i know it is not possible dicretly shift a hap competition stick inside the te (reffering to markman)

but how is the oppertunity with some small modding ? if you need to rate the defficulty from 0 -10 (0=impossible; 10 - only changing some mountingplates)

would just be intrest to put it short inside to feel the diffrence personaly i love octogonal gates and allready bought one for the Sanwa stick but maybe take a dremel and a competiotion would also be cool eg)

Yeah,I got EDGE.Good to it getting coverage.

I don’t usually buy EDGE anymore but anything to do with this stick has me excited, can’t wait til release.

@MarkMan:
Sorry again for the nagging questions but I’ve tried contacting MadCatz UK themselves but they never respond. I was just wondering if you know when their UK branch is planning to get the sticks sent out by, the site says nothing and there’s no forums or whatever to ask them since they’re not replying to my emails. No UK site has a release date listed for the sticks either, only that they’re not taking anymore preorders.

Part Two: I made a preorder on the stick and it went though ok and I got a confirmation email saying this: “GameShark Store Europe Thank you, payment for your order has been accepted.” along with an order reference and what the item was… does that mean I’m definately getting a TE stick come it’s release? When I emailed them I asked them if they could assure me about this but again no reply. I did the same thing to GAME when I preordered the CE of WoW’s Wrath of the Lich King but they actually got back to me.
