Official Starcraft Thread

shouldn’t have unsieged all his tanks actually. Flash’s scv’s ran out there right when he did which is why he didn’t get any shots off on them before they were in his face. Even 1 sieged tank would done nice initial damage that the vultures could clean up to get rid/soften up those scvs.

yeah, that’s pretty much what I thought… also probably could have screened with his vultures a bit better, though that was a ton of SCVs

I saw that scv vs tank situation as complete luck for Flash. I mean the timing of all that couldn’t have gone better for him.

On a side note I want to get back in to starcraft and as much as I don’t want to play terran, I think I could do really well with them

What makes you think that? Terran is the hardest race to play with. I’ve never heard of anyone playing Terran even though they don’t want to. I nearly switched to Protoss because Terran was so hard for me.

I have this problem with every game. Like I just fall in to the groove of a character (or in starcraft’s case, race), but I don’t like it?

To keep with SC, I feel I understand terrans the best, but I like protoss better. Over all, I like zerg the most, but that’s probably because I don’t think I understand how to play them at all.

I’m a weird one like that I guess.

was anybody else shocked at the outcome of the games last night?

The protoss matches were pretty disappointing, but terran games were satisfying.

I was. Stork has just been in horrible condition after his spankings from Flash

lol Stork losing 2 PvPs that badly, he even remembered goon range and everything ;o

stork lost the first game because he did that predictable robo skip that he does. its to big of a risk to do in my eyes.

the terran games were fucking great! I was very satisfied with those games.

Stork has never been a true championship contender, he chokes too hard like every time. PL beast until finals, too ;[
He’s good but he’s pretty much just a textbook Protoss, like if you wanted to learn how to play Protoss by the book, I would say “watch Stork.” Stork is actually pretty good, he’s just becoming more and more irrelevant when you want to talk about the top players of today. Stork is the neo-YellOw, the king of special events and the king of second place. Old news, and he’s even losing the second place spots now… though I guess he’s still winning special events ;(

Man I want Hwasin to win a Starleague before he’s done.

-edit-
lol Stork- in his only SL finals appearances, he lost to Bisu (GOMTV2 MSL), then Jaedong (EVER 2007 OSL), then Flash (Bacchus 2008 OSL). Poor Stork really is a dinosaur at this point, though… same old tired builds and strats from the dinosaur toss, he’s not as creative as Kal and his macro isn’t as beastly as Best.

I always thought Terran was the easiest race for me to play, just because a lot of it is defending and then pushing out with the Terran death ball.
I find Zerg to be ridiculously hard to play. Just knowing when to make another hatchery makes it really hard for me. I know going 9 pool/12 hatch is what most people do on big maps, but there’s always the triple expand that a lot of pros do and the proper timing and all that other stuff…seriously, it makes my head hurt and it also makes me love Zerg players.
Honestly, my favorite player of all time would have to be JulyZerg, just because he was one of the first players I’ve seen in SC progaming and I was just like “WOW, holy crap, this guy is mad nuts”

And on a side note…
JULY GOT THE GOLDEN MOUSE, OH MY FUCKING GOD! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

ugh don’t remind me that July got the golden mouse before Boxer and oov. Still a nice win for the “old school” though really, is July all that old-school?

Terran is hard to play at after a certain point because T takes better mechanics to get to the same level… unless you’re winning everything off 1-2 base timing pushes (which is what I’m always trying to do because I’m too lazy for long games loool).
But yeah, the hard part is when you’re having to constantly scan for new expos, harass all over the map, keep your push alive without walking into hold lurkers or wandering your tanks into dragoons before sieging up, keeping vessels alive while still irradiating defilers and keeping your MnM out of swarms, etc. while taking, managing, and protecting your own expos and keeping your macro up.
Of course none of us needs to do that perfectly so there’s actually a pretty big margin for error in TvT and TvP, provided your macro is decent… and in TvZ it isn’t too bad so long as you aren’t running your ball into lurker traps all day (which is what I’m always doing T_T)

When do you guys usually play on West? Never see ya guys on haha. ;]

I partly blame the mapset for why stork is “slumping”. He always struck me as more of micro player than macro, and considering the larger more resource heavy maps I can see him not being as successful as guys like best and Jangbi who do great with large armies.

Also when people stopped thinking that Carriers were IMBA.
(just to note I have not seen the matches in question)

Airforce ACE vs Samsung Khan - July 13

You guys have to watch the Boxer vs Odin match (first match)… The Emperor never ceases to put on a big show…

Yeah that match is great. I can’t waite till Boxer gets out the Air Force. It’ll be interesting to see if he can get his touch back. I wonder if his age will take a toll on him as well.

Stork has always been known for having strong macro moreso than any kind of acknowledgment for his micro ;( His micro isn’t bad by any means, but he’s very much a product of the macro age.
Stork is still doing well in PL, his real issue just seems to be a lack of spark… which is why a lot of people don’t like Stork, he has never really shown much in the way of creativity or gutsiness (which is why he doesn’t win Starleagues), he’s pretty much just a hard working, boring, mechanical macro Protoss who is better at being a boring mechanical macro Protoss than most other people.
