I would say now is not a great time to learn to play it, but Starcraft certainly has a lot of fun to offer no matter how you wanna play(BGH, 3v3 hunters, 1:1 styles etc)
However ive been playing it multiplayer since 00 and some of the most fun i ever had was watching and playing some srk people right before 1.08(replays) came out. Either Ponder or Inkblot and John Choi were pretty good for the standards of those days and it felt really interesting to play the game and watch those dudes.
But nowadays it is kind of serious. Even mid-level players are gonna be playing like mini-pros. At least in style and execution. Fascinating players are rare and high level of technical ability(execution) is the norm.
Blah, i wake up just intime to see stork getting interviewed and then it goes off. terrible. Lol i went to bed at 9 o’clock to prepare too.
Whoever said that moletrap is lame. I 100% agree. You can tell he really doesn’t take it seriously at all which makes it kinda boring. Of course he isnt’ obligated to take it serious or anything but please stop jumping on the triple commentaries and ruining them.
^ Starcraft might be much harder considering the MBS system and auto mining for Starcraft 2.
Just play it for fun. It’s very addicting and you just keep coming back. Its also a tiring game and I see alot of newcomers quit after playing 2-3 games.
Hit me up if you want to learn the game, I’m not very good but I’m up for teaching the basics.
actually if anyone wants to play online or anything i’m Kingofkod on aim. I know what you’re supposed to do, jsut very unaccomplished at doing it lol. Not tonight though i gotta go somewhere. Tomorrow i’m down though.
Im sure some skill will. Most of the top US players who played the demo at Blizzcon were owning. So yeah its not bad for that reason, but you could also just play WC3. You would learn everything but how to hardcore macro(No offense to WC3 players, ive played it a lot).
War3 wasn’t made to be a hardcore macro game, but I guess you have to micro so much that it’d be next to impossible to manage big armies anyhow.
I’m pretty sure the basic mechanics for Starcraft will carry over to SC2, and I’m sure the basic strategic ideas will carry over, even if you need new build orders and timings and such.
I think if you learn SC now, the skills will definitely transfer over to sc2. SC2 will probably feel a lot easier too. No need to split scvs, clone, or make seperate control groups.
Netology. Go buy the Starcraft battlechest at walmart right now. It’s like $20 for the original and the expansion and two little worthless player’s guides.
