Official Starcraft Thread

Someone must of told him he can make a lot of money by throwing games.

Gomtv has the rights to broadcast Blizzard’s games. Kespa has until Aug. to end their shit.

Shit just got real!

In before KeSPA forces the Korean government to turn Starcraft into an Adults Only rated game, thusly banning it from Korea!

Seriously, fuck KeSPA. Worst thing to happen to eSports… EVER.

the results of the OSL and MSL finals and the gambling thing at the same time have really made me question how they went down.

Effort is now better than Jaedong. World is ending. Better stock up on canned food and get into your underground bunkers.

ssssssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh

Seriously. Fuck Kespa.

^You really think Blizzard would? At least Kespa, however a shitty job they may do, actual tries to promote E-sports. Blizzard won’t do shit with the scene and so far, I only seem them shitting on Starcraft in general (both Brood War and SC2)

Both aren’t the best companies, but I think Kespa is the lesser of the two evils here

Blizzard is trying to take over everything but they would just kill off Starcraft. So if I broadcast me playing Starcraft with a friend then Blizzard owns the footage and I have to pay them? If I play SF then Capcom owns the footage and I have to pay them to upload it to youtube? WTF?

No, you guys are looking into this too much. Kespa is making shit tons of money off Starcraft through esports, so it would make sense that Blizzard would want a part in it. It’s within their right to do so, and really, Kespa has done a lot of douche baggery stuff in the past; I’m not sure how anyone can really side with them here. Kespa only cares about money (well, both of them do, obviously) and being in complete control over the Starcraft scene in S. Korea, so it’s no surprise that they won’t want to give it up at all.

Elder, you’re REALLY grasping for straws here. You know as well as I that Blizzard doesn’t give two fucks about some random scrubs streaming/broadcasting footage of their games.

We know that and yes, Kespa isn’t clean, but you also know exactly what direction Blizzard is taking with the new BNET. They’re intentionally not having lan support and forcing you to be online so that they could have full control of their game. They don’t just want some of the profit that Kespa is making, they want full control and knowledge of who is playing their game and when, and if need be with the ability to terminate the ToS contract that was agreed upon installation. Tournament organizers and leagues should be worried.

It’s not Blizzard it’s Activision. Blizzard has always been a respected company, but since they merged with Activision the focus has become Profit > Quality.

Activision is making Blizzard release SC2 in three parts, all for $60, along with a bunch of other BS. 2010: 60 bucks, 2011: 60 bucks, 2012: 60 bucks (all for the non collector’s editions).

Basically if Activision was producing Capcom games, instead of Super Street Fighter IV for $40 dollars and 10 new characters it’d have been SSF4 with 5 new chars for 60 bucks then 2011 with SSF4T and another 5 chars for 60 bucks. Not to mention the fact that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to play without being connected to Xbox Live/PSN and everytime someone wanted to upload a combo video or produce a live stream they’d have to pay Capcom money.

I’ve always loved Blizzard games and have been having fun in the SC2 beta, it just sucks that they’re letting corporate assholes ruin their company’s reputation.

Smaller leagues could have reason for concern (although I think you’re probably blowing things out of proportion here), but big ones such as WCG have had SC1 part of their tournaments for years without any issues (that I know of). You’re making it seem like Blizzard/Activision is Bison at the SSFIV Network screen. I don’t like the idea of B.net 2.0 either, but I’m not a believer in some Blizzard conspiracy to control everything.

This makes sense because WoW has been Blizzards gold mine (ironic) and identity for the last 5 years, and that’s basically how it works with WoW play.

makes sense thou
not a huge fan of what blizzard is doing (or kespa for that matter) but im not gonna say “fuck blizz” cuz of this
and p.s. i still prefer BW over sc2 but eventually i gotta move on lol

You know what sc2 needs? brighter colors. is very bland to watch.

So who is the best now? Flash, Jaedong?
