Official Starcraft Thread

There is a big delay…they said they wanted to give the players a chance to regain their composure after the power outage. Still waiting for game 4 to start .

Apparently Flash’s dad went into the studio and demanded a rematch. Then the ref said “let the games go on the series will be forfeited”. I’m guessing there’s a lot of drama behind the scenes that’s keeping the next match from starting.

omg finally they start

Failed bunker rush because Jaedong with Overpool. Flash behind. JD turtles up with 3 Sunkens. Flash cannot break, loses a lot of marines. Flash REALLY far behind. JD techs to mutas and rapes Flash’s base after harassing with Mutas and Lings. JD wins.

Games 1-3 were epic until the blackout. After that, everything was very anti-hype. What a horrible way to win MSL. :frowning:

Game 4 on Fighting Spirit

Flash goes for 8 rax, Jaedong overpools and they are on opposite sides of the map, so he’s safe. Jaedong continues with 2 rax, but Jaedong plays it safe with sunken colonies. Eventually Jaedong gets mutas and cleans up after having a huge economic advantage. GG

Jaedong officially wins MSL 2.5 to 1

dammit =/

Blackout+ Flash’s dad raging and delaying + Terrible 4th match with a clearly-out-of-it Flash = Worst SC finals EVER.

Way to fail, MBC… You HAD to plug in that toaster…

^_-;

lol Flash was like fuck it I’m going for the same strat I did against Calm until he realized Jaedong went overpool and at a cross position.

1 base play failed

KeSPA continues to improve over its dominating wins over Leta, Ruby, and GoRush in previous seasons by defeating Flash in the MSL finals. KeSPA is on track to become the bonjwa of this era.

Interesting facts…

Tanks or lurkers were not used in ANY matches in the finals.

In games 2 and 3, Jaedong got his 3rd hatch before pool.

mmm there was a hydralisk den in game 4 though. No tanks needed if you’re fighting for your life against Jaedong’s sick mutalisk micro

Wow, what a joke. After there was only 2 games that counted in the first 3 hours i was done. That’s really pathetic and i’m glad i didn’t stay up for the entire thing.

somewhere the OSL officials are laughing their asses off and drinking shots of soju for holding an event that isnt a fuck up.

mm screw that real Koreans just drink the whole bottle at once.

EXAMPLE: ME (I drink the whole bottle in one gulp (with orange juice mixed in of course so I don’t gag myself from the taste)

for real!!! soju is THE WORST tasting alchoholic drink invented by man kind! tastes like rats ass moonshine but only at 8% level or wateva.

it feels like 10 angry korean dudes having a brawl inside your stomach.

and korean dudes can become quite livid EVIDENCE EXHIBIT A : Flash’s dad after game 3.

The 3rd match was shaping up amazingly great. Honestly, JD would have won the 3rd game, but that wasn’t really the problem. It was the mental hit that Flash got afterwards because Fighting Spirit was coming up which Flash thumbed down and he just lost by judgment call from KeSPA. There was no good way to resolve that because it shouldn’t have happened to begin with. JD was clearly ahead.

Jaedong had 4 bases, main almost mined out and 5 gases.
Flash had 3 bases, main mined out, natural almost mined out, 2 gas that’s probably almost empty, no vessels, no tanks.

What do you think Flash could have done? The only hope he would have is of dropping, in the main and hoping to wipe out Jaedong’s tech tree like in game 2, but 1. Jaedong had Nydus up all over the place and armies right beside them. 2. He had tons of defilers. 3. If Flash dropped with 2 dropships, what’s going to stop Jaedong from dropping swarms and counter attacking? Flash’s irradiates were doing more damage than the Ultralisks themselves at that point in the game. It’s true though that it’s not fair Jaedong got the decision, you can tell it really impacted Flash whether it was of the decision or because of his father’s outburst. I don’t think OSL has much to say though, the crash did ruin what was potentially an amazing finals, but how much better was Flash crushing Movie? Movie tried, but do you think Flash even felt pressured?

I’m sad the finals turned out the way it had, but I feel like at least the matches kept me entertained until the crash unlike a lot of lackluster finals with big names that just failed to do anything for me except make me regret staying up for them. Few finals actually live up to their hype when the big guns are involved, but I feel like if the crash hadn’t happened, this would have. It’s really too bad…

TL did a write up of the finals last night, specifically of the blackout drama.

It was just a shitty situation that no one wants to be in whether you’re a judge, a player, a commentator, a fan. You could tell Jaedong was not satisfied with his win, but there wasn’t really anything he could do. I believe it was the right decision to give Jaedong the game based on the information given (Flash had no tank support, lost too many Vessels, no energy to Irradiate, mined out main and soon to be mined out nat, JD with 4-5 gases and fully 5/2 Ultras and 3/2 Lings with Defiler support). It wasn’t fair to Flash, but it wasn’t fair to Jaedong either if he had to replay it when he was clearly ahead by a good margin. Like the TL article said, it would’ve been much more unfair to Jaedong to replay the game than to give Flash a loss.

You are right. Replaying the game on a heavy terran favored map wouldn’t have been right, especially when Flash could no longer be surprised by Jaedong’s build on that map. (3 hatch before pool + early evo chamber). I won’t say there was no way Flash could have won though, because if he takes out the double gas expo, he’s right back in it. It would have been unlikely he takes out that expo, but not impossible. There was no fair outcome for the circumstances.

It was definitely an epic game up to that point though. Jaedong had already lost 2 hatcheries before establishing the double gas expo, and Flash pretty much had the game won earlier if he wouldn’t have streamed his medic’s / marines into the 3 o’clock base.

Anyone know what this thing is suppose to be? My initial reaction was that it was some new Protoss unit, but then I thought well maybe it’s some custom unit for single player campaign? And the I just now was thinking it might be Xel’Naga?

It’s only up on Blizzard’s site in the ‘screeshots’ section and the ‘artwork’ section. No informationsn about it…I’ve been asking around. I’m very intrigued!

Any idea where I can download those maps they use?
