Forwarding ports is super fucking annoying, especially if you havenât done it before and you have to set up a static ip. The average person would never bother with it, and without portforward.com Iâd be totally fucked.

You give society way too much credit then. I try to hype up things like ggpo to people i know, and a majority of them, i have to spend like 2 hours+ on AIM just to walk them through a 2 minute procedure. Most of them give up saying"why the hell do i got to do all of this to play a game?" And itâs not just my buddies, there are so many people just lurking in the ggpo lobbies constantly asking how to setup all this crap, daily. And they all either man up and listen to lengthy instructions for a couple hours, or they give up and say the same thing âthis is too much work to play a gameâ or âwhy do i need to do all thisâ etcâŚ

Thatâs a flawed conclusion. Any PC app can be just as user friendly. If GGPO had UPnP support, it wouldnât be difficult to set up at all. GGPO on the PC is certainly not friendly for the average fighting game player though ^_^â

Console is more user friendly, but it is not like PC is impossibly hard or something. it is really easy it just takes a bit more than throwing a cord into your xbox and sticking it in a router or a modem. it takes throwing a cord into a router and following a step by step, picture guided tutorial, or the manual that comes with the software, or the manual that comes with the router.
No, they are valid because you pretend your computer knowledge is applicable to everybody else.
Most average PC gamers know put disc in drive, click install, done.
For GGPO you have to:
Register on the site
Install adobe air
Install GGPO
Find the correct ROMs for the games they want to play
Put them in the correct folders (assuming they can find where GGPO installed)
Port forward your router (when most people have never logged into theirs)
You can SAY itâs easy but the average computer user doesnât know how to do steps 4-6, and if you donât hold their hand through it theyâre likely to give up. And the people who just want to sit down and play a game donât want to fuck with combing through ROM sites or consulting guides on accessing their router.

You guys are comparing console games strictly to GGPO, which is wrong. It depends 99% on the game itself how easy/hard it is to start playing. There are a million PC games in which no configuration is needed to begin playing online.
They had a colour frame around the character portraits on the VS screen of ST⌠(although it didnât have any relevance to the costume colours).

If a colour frame or any kind of indicator is added (unlikely), maybe gamers should be allowed to cycle through all the available colours, by pressing the corresponding buttons and once theyâve settled upon a colour they like, press the same button again to select it. It will save the experienced and newbies who play a wide variety of characters from having to memorise every single button for every different colour for every character. But the game is locked down now and there are far more pressing issuesâŚ
