The university I went to for undergrad is renowned for having some of the least attractive girls of any major school in the country; one time, a hotness poll by Playboy placed it at 300th place out of 300 schools surveyed. Everyone had to loosen their standards just to get by, and our standards dropped progressively until at graduation they were nearly non-existent. Each new year, I’d say to my friends, You know, I think the freshmen are a lot hotter this year! And they’d say No, that’s just your Berkeley vision talking.
I really do think the Fei portrait looks fine. Whether that’s because it really is fine or because I’ve seen some of the other portraits is hard to say.
Nah, it’s pretty good all things considered. I don’t want to use the “artistic license” as a copout, but all the characters have had that “califlower ear” effect and that really overshadowed clavicle/pectoral look. It seems like Mr. Lee has a style that he sticks to. Vega’s missing left half is just obviously bad, and while I don’t agree I can see why some people loathed the Cammy portrait. But that still leaves 15 out of 17 we’ve seen as pretty good.
Yeah, I really love Sagat’s original ST pose too. I could do without the pose, but I really don’t think this SFHD portrait looks very Sagat-y. It just looks like some tanned, hairless ogre.
I thiiink I like Hawk. I’m having an unusually difficult time pinpointing what I like and what I don’t. Rather, I don’t think I love it, but I definitely don’t hate it, and I do think it will grow on me. I need to give it a little time to marinate in my brain.
Fei is pretty cool. I get what you guys are saying about Fei’s thumb, but I think it’s pretty cool… occasionally, in the proper context, a little bit of stylistic exaggeration trumps anatomical accuracy, in my books. This is art, after all.
At least Vega is covering up most of his!
In seriousness though, I don’t particularly mind the ears even if there are little things I’d change about them were I doing it myself.
edit: and actually, I looked at Vega again and he’s covering up everything EXCEPT for the bad part of his ear. Hahah.
I never said it was hard for me. setting this shit up is simple, to me. But if you ever go on ggpo, the number of times people ask how to forward ports, how to log into their router, how to get their ip, etc etc etc… is a daily issue. Oh yeah, and peopla ask for…GASP…ROMS!!! omg really, they do ask for them too. And even ask where to place them. Sorry, I don’t pretend I’m an elitist with the mentality that everyone on the planet should know the things that I know. Reality check, it isn’t like that. If it was, we’d all be building rockets and warp speed contraptions…

I’ve been under the impression that they would not be having that ‘feature’ in SSFIIT:HDR. I can’t say for sure, but I thought I remember reading that in a blog/forum post at Capcom.
Also, in the SSFIIT:HDR beta, it doesn’t show what color you picked when you choose Ryu or Ken. Obviously, it could just be because it’s a beta and unfinished.
I haven’t been following the progress of this since the beta first began but is this game going to be out before the end of the year? Or is it going the way of Guns n Roses Chinese Democracy?
Supposed to have been done by Evo, but that didnt happen cause the art was holding everything up. Now the art is done, so thats a step in the right direction.

Perhaps you should send him a picture tutorial on how to set up his own account on gtfo.net. It’s top tier from what I’m told.
It’s a minor design issue. It would be nice to see what the user selected immediately reflected on the screen. That’s why the developers gave Zangief a singlet and Fei Long a jacket in their portraits, even though they don’t wear them in the game. That being said, they weren’t consistent because they didn’t do something similar for Deejay’s or Sagat’s portraits.
Nonetheless, if Udon can’t change the color of the character portrait, a simple color indicator (could be a tiny square) of the costume you selected would also suffice.
