Is anyone actually still hype about this game?
p.s. hi
Yawn… wake me up when it comes out…
No, my hype died long time ago.
they need some character update to wake people up.
FYP. I’m really shocked that this portrait was released as is. Maybe it’s just one huge joke on all of us.
looks like gief hasn’t even been mentioned what so ever
im lost.
people are still debating ART? really. it matters?
im worried about STHD’s input lag and dropped inputs and masking lag. not about what the fucking menu icons look like.
…
EDIT: I’m sorry, I’m too old. Please explain to me why game art matters. If it is any condolence, the game art of ST looked like total shit to me in the 90s as well.
While I agree with your sentiment, let me explain the problem.
The entire scope of the game, originally, was to redraw the art in HD and make it look gorgeous. Giving it the timeless look casuals, newcomers and hardcore fans would admire for years to come. Then came a bunch of new features, like Remix mode and special options. Since then, we still expected to see the artwork improve.
To this day, the artwork is STILL not as good as promised. That is the issue.
yeah, to me art is secondary. If people look for perfection, it should ignite a fire to get the game as great as possible, but it’s how it plays that I care about more.
And as such, I have played the game a lot today. First of all, I played a friend I have in Oklahoma with a crappy Live connection. Not sure why his Live connection sucks, but apparently it usually does. My guess is his provider drops too many packets for some reason (old wiring?).
So we played many matches of Hyper Fighting. Not good. The game was kind of playable, but it was a slowdown fest. We still had a blast, but the game nowhere near the equivalent of offline.
So then we played a ton of matches on SSF2T (yeah, I talked him into getting the beta by purchasing Commando 3). It was much better. A few matches were almost like we were playing next to each other. Sadly, a few matches were also a slowdown warp fest. Overall, the game was usually quite playable with a few quirks. It was definitely a step above and beyond Hyper Fighting as far as making poorer connections play well.
I’m not too sure why I am posting all this here, as I will give a more thorough review to Capcom after some more games with other players, but here you have it.
I think Backbone and company are doing a pretty job with what they have to work with, and I hope with just a little bit of tweaking, online will work great with good connections. Sadly I always seem to play the same people on Live, so my “different connection” experience is still kind of limited, but I have had a match or two that was pretty superb.
Dude you really should email UDON with that fix…
EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of this project matters.
I’ve had a change of heart, I love the art, as in, i love that it’s taking so long that they might be able to make the netplay as good as the other services they are obviously not trying to copy or reverse engineer at all…
Complain all you want, please, it’s our only hope.
then they’d hate me even more. when this game was announced and the first character sprites started pouring in, me and some other artists would complain and then fix the messed up parts and post it up on their old blog. eventually they banned some of us or they would screen our posts. many of my posts were never uploaded
so, to your expertise “masking lag” is a bad thing? LULZ
When Capcom doesn’t give the community anything to talk about, and a new piece of art comes out, of course they/we are going to talk about it. If it doesn’t matter to you, then why even bother posting? If Capcom would actually communicate with it’s very small dedicated fan base, then maybe we would be able to talk about input lag and dropped inputs. But as it is now, those invested jump upon any scrap they can to keep the subject alive.
The art is fine. I would say it’s exceptional and that Udon has done a fantastic job.
As for the lack of information, I am also impatient for new info, especially for the promised character rebalance updates from Sirlin, but bellyaching about it is not going to make Capcom take pity on us.
As for something to talk about, there are a lot more interesting things to talk about in HD Remix than the art.
Like for example: why are the developers of HD Remix only consulting American tournament players about the changes to characters and not Japanese tournament players as well?
Is there a bias towards the Japanese style of Street Fighter gameplay?
If I remember, back in the day, Seth said he asked Daigo for input on Ryu.
except they did talk with japanese players
I’m a little late, but poot’s version is soo much better. The other one looks like he has a back for a chest. Or like hes looking REALLY far back over his shoulder plus an arm coming out of his back. Why is poot a better artist than the guy being paid to do this?
Sirlin did mention that one japanese top player was asked about what Ryu needed, and guess what he replied “Ryu needs nothing !!..no soup for you !” .
The japanese side doesn’t care about HD Remix, for the simple reason of it being a console only game.
Here is a better question that no one will answer, does Capcom Japan have any control over the development of HD Remix ? besides giving Sirlin and co the 10 commandments of what not to do with ST ?
