Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

Yes, fake lariat. And if you time it right, it would also eat fireballs.

The lariat should be so powerful that has its own gravitational pull that sucks you towards it, if you throw a fireball it will be caught in its orbit and then sling shot right back at you at 3times the speed.

The Increadable Hulk should become a downloadable character with a super lariat that creates black holes.

Has there been any indication of classic mode’s quality since this project started? Classic mode appears to have been forgotten ever since work on altering Remix mode began. Sirlin even said he wanted Remix to become the new standard.

CCC1 ST is not a positive track record. Missing that for the whole time the speed was wrong in Remix is not a positive sign. All the attention seemingly being consumed by Remix is not a positive sign for classic either.

All I’m concerned about is that if the Remix mode sucks, it doesn’t kill the existing ST scene like crappy upgrades have been known to do for other games in the past. Hopefully it turns out good though.

Your proposal seems fair. If they include such changes, then maybe I can forgive them for letting Honda remain in the game.

Is there a reason why they can’t have old sprites instead of the new ones for the characters that aren’t done?

well I was under the assumption that all the character would be available to test out. :frowning:

Im glad im not the only one who watched that.

Oh yeah, Horray for hd remix, dear baby jesus please let this game come out by the end of the year.

Dj’s crossup is way scarier now that his dread kicks don’t need spacing or whatever to combo. No need for fancier combos against specific characters… always dread kick for easy kill!

How does new MGU work now? Can you get 4 hits? Or is it always 2? Does mashing do anything?

original ST already has all of this:rofl:

this would probably be the worst change ever, deejay’s c.HP is fucking amazing because its so fast and its insanely good hitbox.

I might be the first to say this but it was really fun playing the build at bod. Just trying stuff out and seeing the new moves was great. Hawk’s whiff is crazy and it builds meter. I can see claws fake being quite useful and deejay’s auto combo machine gun is also great. The build itself was a little ropey with some of the art not being finished and lots of slowdown when the new effects were on screen. The new fire and smoke effects were really nice looking on the HD screens and the BGs are looking really sharp but some are a little too similar to the ones in ST (read exactly the same but clearer).

I captured quite a lot of footage, deliberately trying to abuse the new stuff for my SRK boys, lol. Hopefully I’ll be able to upload it tomorrow.

i thought the new effects looked absolutely horrible. theyre really cheap and nasty

Looks like I’m the only one on all of srk who has any hope that remixed mode has a fair chance of replacing classic st or at least being tourney worthy.

The top players tested the game extensively and Sirlin reads every post here so while that hardly confirms the game will be as good as he hopes for it to be I doubt he’s gonna fuck it up as bad as most you think he will. I wouldn’t be surprised if srk peeps nitpicked little details and denounced the game for tourney play even if it turned out fine.

When the game comes out someone might even posrep parallax scroll:rofl:

of course you’re not; it’s just that it’s hard to not make comparisons to ST, when it’s regarded as one of the most ā€œbalancedā€ fighters ever made.

…and lots of people just can’t treat it like a new game for some reason.

The ā€œST is balancedā€ mindset just seems like such a joke to me. It doesn’t seem much more balanced than most fighters, it just has some characters that are very matchup heavy in the higher tiers (and one guy is who completely broken).

So all the complaining about HDR, and I’m sitting here thinking, really? As though ST is some perfect game?

If HD replaces Super Turbo as the SF2 game of choice in tourneys I’ll be perfectly fine with it. It’s not like there’s exactly a hopping ST scene, and let’s face it…13 year old fighting game that’s been played to death like that one…what’s left to find?

There’s always something new to find. I mean it’s not like you’re gonna find shit the same way people were finding shit in Marvel or CVS2 when they first came out…but that’s what makes a solid game…solid. Finding new shit even after years and years of play. The human mind itself allows itself to find and create new strategies even after years of using the same tools. This is why games like Chess and Go have lived on for so long. The human mind and the tools given allow for infinite possibilities.

ST is pretty balanced for a fighting game. As in you can use just about any character for some reason in a tournament setting. I have a similar issue with you in that it seems a lot of the people on this forum seem to be looking to make the game as close to ST as possible even though it’s not really supposed to be ST. I dunno…I’d rather play a different game if it’s supposed to be a different game. Yet, if anybody would know what it takes to make an STish game right it would be the people that passionately play and understand the game.

A lot of people like to bring up how balanced games like Guilty Gear are as well but it’s obvious that the game (especially Accent Core) has a real specific tier list and there are characters that are clearly prone to winning more than others. It’s just that like ST…every character is made to be able to damage and all have tools that can make them successful in a tournament setting. In the end though it’s not so much the characters that determine the balance of the game…it’s the mindsets of the players themselves that keep characters competitive and that’s what I think is most interesting about fighting games.

G->LAKE++ has written two blog posts about the network code for SFHD.

Actually, would this be such a bad thing on his running grab? I’m sure that would surprise the shit out of a lot of people…

ā€œOh, hey look! This n00b is using the Siberian Suplex, lol. I’ll punish his ass for using such an obvious move… WTF? I hit him and all he did was flash and then he STILL grabbed me? Booooā€¦ā€

Or does he have this already? I think he might have had it in the Vs series. I distincly remember seeing 'Gief’s Alpha sprite flash red in the middle of this move somewhere…
