Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

that’s all very subjective, though. i’m sure we’ll love some sprites and shit on the others.

i just want the game to play well…online and off. :shake:

It’s not the charging of the moves I was referring to, I was referring to pulling off the moves e.g. Dee Jay is in the corner and wakes up to Ryu’s slow fireball, followed directly by a fast fireball. He won’t be able to jump out or fireball back (it’s too slow) without getting hit by the second fireball, but he will be able to MGU it, so he’ll be able to start fighting back on his terms, by charging up, rather than eat more slow/fast fireballs, or taking chip damage.

From my experience at BoD, I was able to execute reversal dragon punches using Ryu, Ken and Hawk, pretty consistently. I did have problems doing Hawk’s dive, even though it’s supposedly only two buttons to execute now and I was using three.

i still think the old sprites are better. Regardless of them “growing” new muscle groups, the shading was a lot better than it is now.

After reading some of the posts, it seems like SF2THD will be partially broken and sucky.

Which is sad because I’m learning to play ST more seriously, and a lot of people have high hopes in it.

i dont think it will be THAT broken, there might be a couple little things but im sure it will be patched

Theres still classic mode…

Thanks Coum for the info, Vega’s fake dive doesnt sound so threating but same was said when Ryu’s fake fireball was first announced.

Akuma still sounds too good. Push back was probably meant to stop akuma from getting more forward momentum, but it sounds like it just gives him a greater mix up.

So characters available were Ryu, Ken, T Hawk, Dee Jay, Claw and Akuma any videos??

LOL @ no one having any hope for remixed mode. From the way things are looking people will play remixed for a while and then go back to regular st for competitive play and only play remixed mode casually:sad:

I’m keeping a pretty open mind so far and welcome all the changes i’m not going to make any judgments till I get the game downloaded…though it’s good to know fake walldive sounds useless which is the only change I was really worried about.

Wow, so little faith in Sirlin and the advice from other top ST players to make a game less broken than the original Super Turbo.

Honestly if the game comes out not having horribly lopsided matches - the sort you see from guys like Honda, O. Sagat, Vega, Akuma especially, and to an extent T. Hawk with his loop - then I’ll be satisfied.

^
OG ST with the OG sprites.

I don’t think this is Sirlin’s goal anymore. I think his goal is to make a New game, as new as possible. Like, I can’t see any reason other than Newness to make DJ’s mgu nullify fireballs, to give Claw a fake wall dive, to give Guile his new roundhouse flash kick, to give Bison a fake crouching roundhouse, to make Sagat’s tiger knee juggle, etc.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I think the original plan was to make ST balanced by nerfing top tiers, and buffing up low tiers, but now, it seems like all characters have something new (and IMO unnesessary changes) to fight with.

Eventually, the New SF2HD will be broken, because of game-breaking bugs with the new moves/properties, adding juggles where there wasn’t supposed to be.

Yes, first the goal was to create an arcade perfect port of ST. Then the goal became to fix up some issues with ST. Finally, it might have been Sirlin himself that posted that he wanted people to think of Remix as the next game in the SF2 series. That kind of sentiment has gone beyond even tweaking balance.

Presumeably, the other tweaked characters were able to beat down Dee Jay, or at the least he needed the punches.

And did you think that perhaps Vega had been toned down to the point where adding a way to cancel the wall dive was a move to keep him still really good, but not overpowered?

Sheesh, you’re complaining about little things that you know of, when you haven’t played the big picture. No one outside of Capcom and Backbone has. I have every expectation that in the larger scheme of the game, the changes they’ve come up with work.

Seems pretty poor thinking to consider a game utter shit when you only know of a handful of the changes made to it.

Oh yeah did anyone mention that wall dive doesn’t knock down any more? obviously

^Yeah, on the sprites disappearing it happened to me again, but I have no idea what triggers it. Also c.short c.short xx super seemed easier, but maybe that’s just me beasting with ken xD

I want Gief to have super armor.

he needs to have a yoga flame too.

all the time. with a fake lariat.

any word on new vids with more of the cast?

im gettin impatient waitin on this, just toss me somethin to tide me over backbone!!!
