i think vega looks sick. of course i dont stand in the mirror, looking at myself, studying proper muscles to find all the miniscule deficiences with this sprite. I think it looks great. Can’t wait to play tonight

Agreed - I’m not sure what else you could want from the sprite.

T. Hawk look pretty much like T. Hawk as well, although I can now see what they meant when they said keeping his head the same size kind of made him look like a troll (back with the old art). I will nitpick one thing - the guy standing in the middle of T. Hawk’s stage looks HUGE - like taller than T. Hawk. Maybe it’s a trick of perspective but looks like he’s got some growth disorder.

I’m also really surprised that nobody except for one blogger, including Capcom’s PR department, decided they should release some pictures of the new art. Seriously, what the fuck?

Also, while I’ve been one to try and give them the benefit of the doubt, only having two new characters ready to display after six weeks is worrisome. Here’s to hoping the rest of the cast each have 90% of the art done.

Meh, he doesn’t look incredibly horrible–they have to match the proportions of the old sprite–which some of them are actually pretty bad. Its just more obvious at 1080p. There’s going to be some weird shit thats unavoidable. I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter what they do something isn’t going to be right but I’ll still play it on PSN.

err… isnt vega monstrously oversized compared to Ryu…? Its like instead of just being tall, he seems to be completely inflated.

I do agree Vega does look slightly oversized but I also like that he isn’t stupidly over buffed with his muscles. Now Akuma I thought looked fine but now that I see him next to Ken with both in their neutral stances I think that unique pose of his makes him look like a troll, and not in a good way. He looks sooo short.

Wait… maybe Vegas size is an optical illusion…

The screenshots show the monitor at an angle.

In particular, the right edge of the screen is about 50% taller than the left edge in the Ryu-Vega pic.

Here’s a comparison. I used the perspective tool to try and equalize the off angle shot, and scaled the screens to match the foot positions. It’s not perfect but it’s close enough.

As you can see there’s really no difference -

If you look at old SFII sprites, they’ve seriously out of proportion with each other. Vega is drawn incredibly tall.

And what exactly is “lumpy” about vega?

From crackbones comparision doesn’t look like any major changes like Sagat.

I still prefer the old HD art style (comparing new T Hawk to old T Hawk) not complaining though, everything except for Vega looks gorgeous. Especially the Dee Jay sprite, its got this really clean look going on.

Its the way they decided to define his muscles.
