Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

Yea, but the question is, from the same distance that you’re able to combo into it, are you also able to land it safely if it’s blocked, and not be punished (depending on the character, of course)? I’m leaning toward SaBrE being right about it being possible, I just haven’t found the right distance + timing of executing the rekkas

Yes.

In Vanilla ST, Fierce at max distance + Fierce + Jab Rekka was mostly safe on block and still would combo. Point blank was tougher, but no one ever really does Rekkas at point blank, so it’s not really a concern. Since almost everytime you do a Rekka Ken in ST, you are trying to hit them with the tip of the first one, Fierce, Fierce, Jab was pretty much the only thing you ever used.

In Remix ST, it’s tougher because the Rekkas go farther, so it takes a lot more skill, actually, to control the distance (well, maybe not more skill, but we have to unlearn habits and relearn new ones). So in new ST Remix, you have to wisely do Fierce, Strong, Jab or something like that if you are scared they might block. There is definitely a lot more adjusting you have to do for Hit Confirmation.

But in all cases, it only matters on block. Because by the time the first two connect, you know if you can do another Fierce or Jab. If they are blocking, you do Jab, if they are getting hit, you do Fierce. It’s pretty straightforward.

Oh, for some strange reason I though you meant between the rekkas. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyways more testing. At max range of close FP, Fei can do FP Rekka x2 LP Rekka and be safe from Ken’s fierce DP. The range doesn’t seem that hard to get though I can’t tell without making some machine that can consistently whip out reversal DPs.

Edit: DAMN YOU JAAAAAAAMES ;_;

I don’t know if anyone will really be surprised given all the “it will be released VERY soon” talk, but here it is anyway: In the newest update of the Capcom blog–which isn’t even really about SFHD–Seth mentioned that they had “a complete build of Super Street Fighter II Turbo.” Given the context, I feel it’s clear enough that he meant HD Remix, and that the game is now DONE-done, polishing and tweaking and all, and is just awaiting release now.

So there you have it: as far as I understand,
this is the first truly official word that SFHD is finally fully complete.

EDIT: If you’re shamelessly desperate, here are some amazingly terrible picures of…

EDIT 2: They miiight be using prototypes of the Mad Catz SF4 arcade sticks. Huge maybe!

They should release those madcatz sticks with SF2:HD. . .

at least it’s done. sheesh.

So if it’s really close to release and the updates ahve already been written, where are the remixed charecter updates?! I would think whoever controls the flow of information over at capcom USA should be able to relax the embargo by now…

Have we considered the possibility that they may not write any more character updates? :wonder:

It seemed like the original intention was to write one article detailing the complete list of changes–and the thoughts behind them–for each character, but more and more changes were being made even as the articles were written. They grew increasingly sporadic, fewer and further between. Then eventually there was a catch-up article to fill in newer changes that had been made since previous articles. And then eventually they stopped, and we haven’t seen any in months. Maybe they feel like they should start all over again if they start up again at all, and they’re not willing to do that. Or maybe they’re all already written and ready and waiting for our eager reactions. Who knows, I guess we’ll find out.

I definitely do hope we get some more character updates. A flood of information would only make sense as we near its release, and I don’t doubt for a second that we’ll be seeing some news from Capcom about it within the next couple of weeks.

I hope that, at the very least, Sirlin posts a comprehensive list of all the things they tweaked about the game (from vanilla ST).

I remember them saying most of the articles were done but put on hold until the game was nearing release. Of course theres been changes but that would only require some editing of those articles. We’ll see though.

damn those pictures are such a tease!

must have been some real casual players or else we would see some better photos.

You guys are making conclusions. Sirlin never said that such articles were already written. He only hinted that MAYBE they we’re already written but were being withheld by marketing.

In any case, I hope we get to see the rest of the characters’ changes. It would definetly help bring about some hype before the game comes out.

It would also be nice if we get an update about the changes mades to the previous mentioned characters. Here’s hoping like everyone else that this is the case.

Peace out!

i haven’t encountered any other game so poorly marketed (and it started so well with the often blog updates)

just give us some info + pics for fucks sake… instead of building up hype, you just cut its head off and left it bleeding on the floor for ever frustrating speculation

Camera man:Hey everyone!Smile! Please try to cover up the game screens more,it’s in the way!

. . .:shake:

I actually heard about it from another capcom guy (on irc), I won’t name names but this was when the big delay happened and articles stopped being put up. I’m inclined to believe it for the most part. I do expect them to be scraped for new ones though if they decide to do them again.

The problem is that Capcom doesn’t want to promote the game until they are confident that the game passes XBLA certification and will be releasing soon.

During the Bionic Commando Rearmed podcast, the producer, Ben Judd, said that one of the mistakes from development was promoting the game too early. They had a trailer out in March, but after the game was delayed, it didn’t come out until August.

Capcom is being a little gun-shy about SFHD, especially since the game has been delayed several times. Once they are confident that the game will be out, we’ll start seeing some promotion from them.

Which means the game may very well endup coming out in 09.

…just in time to compete against SFIV, which will rape it. OMG Gouken is in it! <fanboi drools ensues>

Why are they still using the old rejected artwork for promotions

Given what they’ve said on Capcom’s end about having a lot of pull over the release date, I think it will be out either this month or next month. That said, they are not going to shaft a $60 title for a $20 title.

If they’re as far over budget as they seem to indicate, printing up new marketing one-sheets isn’t an expense they want to bother with, especially since they’re only used at trade shows every once in a while.
