Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

He’s not.

The inputs aren’t dropped as already explained:

Saying rollback drops inputs is like complaining a super doesn’t come out because you’re being combo’d.

If you’re expecting 100% perfect, lagless, latency free fighting games with anyone on the planet, you better start rewiring the internet so everybody has ethernet cable plugged into your house.

GGPO’s double buffered latency compensation isn’t arcade perfect but it’s damn close and damn good.

Quick question, i dont know if its been asked before, but, im going to ask it anyways, are there going to be trophies for SSFHD remix for PS3??

and i got a little request for SIRLIN, Mr. Sirlin please, can you fix this B.S.

i mean, Come On, is that possible that E. Honda just pressing one button can beat a good Zangief player??? (Gunze is a very good Zangief player). he didnt even had a fighting chance. and you need to fix Zangief’s lariat, how come he can beat Bison’s Psycho Crusher, and not Honda’s Sumo Headbutt, and Blanka’s rolling attack???

second

You can’t read. I wasn’t talking about rollback when I was talking about GGPO. On GGPO you can press buttons and have nothing come out, repeatedly. Especially when it’s a clutch situation where you need that perfect timing to do a reversal, nothing happens. Sorry, but I know how to do reversals.

And yes, he is retarded.

EDIT: Wow, you guys sure do love your GGPO. You swear that no inputs ever get dropped, interesting. So why does everyone on GGPO say that it’s “just for practice” and not serious? I for one don’t play it because although about 90% of the gameplay is good, you get that 10% where something doesn’t come out that should have, or something doesn’t feel right, and you just get frustrated. At least for me. I’m sure I could get used to it, but it would probably completely throw off my game when I went to play IRL. And there would always be the “random factor” of losing when a move doesn’t come out.

So I asked Larry Oji regarding how long it takes for the Ryu remix to reach the main melody and he responded.

Honda is fucking gross, I cannot say it enough. I would rather put up with Claw’s wall dive bullshit and O.Sagat’s tigers than play against Honda.

That wasn’t a one-button win. That was a good, smart Honda.

GGPO doesn’t drop inputs anymore, that has been fixed for quite a few versions.

Seriously, stop embarrasing yourself with your uninformed bullshit.

Indeed man, we are two of a kind.

Isn’t Dictator vs. Gief essentially one button also (s.RH)??

We’re all afraid of people like you lol’ing at us.

Yeah, it’s great! Honestly, you’re cheating yourself if you’re avoiding GGPO just because every once in a while there’s a glitch. There’s a lot of good times to be had on there.

Seconded, is GGPO perfect? No, but it is the BEST option for online play? Yuppers, heres hoping HDR can get up to the same standard.

DSP, seriously man, online will most likley never be exactly the same as head to head (well maybe when fiber optics are the standard), but we all want it as good as it can get. Do you know why? I for one cannot even play ST in an arcade where I live, there is no ST cab left in my hometown. None of my friends seriously play SF enough to offer much real compitition, so guys like me turn to online as the ONLY option to play the games I/we love.

Will online ever be tourny standard (not anytime soon anyways)? Nope. So you dont really have much to worry about then do ya?

Are the rollbacks in HDR a bit outta control right now? Yup, hopefully they can tighten them up and rock the house with HDR. Calm down the negitive jabber and realize that this game is NOT for pro players only, if it was it would NEVER have been made, us non pro players can deal with a bit of jump like on GGPO, you know why? Because we dont play perfectly, we play for fun, for those of you who are playing for a pro title, you guys will play seriously offline, just as you have up till now. (and realistically, you guys should wipe the floors online as well)

Nothing will change except that the rest of the market (you know, the people that drive the games industry, joe consumer) will get a MUCH better 2D fighter online experience. (hopefully)

GGPO doesn’t drop packets, it’s UDP and the network itself.

Double Buffered latency compensation does no good if the packets don’t arrive in the first place.

GGPO managed to allow fighting games to be playable up to 100 ping. Counter Strike players would kill that type of latency compensation. It’s the best out there and managed to do so without slow down or dropping half the input.

It’s not arcade perfect, but it’s impossible for it be without tearing the entire internet down and rebuilding it. Crying about a few missed packets (especially as few as GGPO has) is like bitching about gravity.

Oh, he’s not the retarded one.

Well, to be fair, Gunze is up against the world’s best Honda player in that one.

But being a Honda player, I’m sure Sirlin knows that matchup is one of the worst in the game. I’m sure whatever changes Sirlin’s giving Gief will make him more competitive, and keep in mind that Honda will probably get some kind of a nerf to his defensive game as well. I don’t expect this matchup to be even in HDR, though, just more manageable. And that’s fine. Also if I had to hazard a guess as to why lariat always beats crusher, I’d say that crusher is at the exact vertical level where Gief’s lariat invulnerability is (the same level fireballs go on), while ball and headbutt are not.

Also, I don’t get the Honda hate, I think he’s an awesomely designed character. No one else in the game plays so radically different in so many matchups, and while he needs to be better at getting in in some matchups and a bit worse at keeping out in others, he’s not that far from being balanced.

Chun changes a lot in matchups, some matchups like Blanka she out and out turtles in, some matchups like Dee Jay she’s balanced, against shotos she tries to RTSD, and against some chars like Claw she plays entirely different.

Chun plays more to her strengths, while opponents just play to Honda’s weaknesses.

Yep, That is correct.

I second that. Playing GGPO has become ridiculously awesome, especially with the staggering amount of utterly awesome players out there. I still can’t believe I’m playing against the legendary old school pros that rocked Evo year in year out and watching epic games live and in high fidelity.

Just pure, unadultered awesomeness beyond my wildest dreams.

Just want to mention that it’s only been proven on a PC working on an emulation. Not doubting GGPO’s ability, but it’s still unproven on a console working on something other than emulation, like a port or even an original title. It might work great out of the box, who knows? But I just wanted to qualify that statement.

That’s a stupid statement. It has potential to be even better on a console working with original code/a port then it does on PC with emulation.
