Developers are literally required to make sure that you go into a ranked match not knowing anything about who youâre playing against. Otherwise people would cherry pick all over the place.
Iâm too lazy to go sifting through the technical requirements right now, but Iâd be surprised if you couldnât at least show ping and misc. stats like drops before playing someone in a ranked match. You wouldnât have to show their gamer tag or rank for this to be effective. So, maybe itâs possible?
Agreed, if people end up âcherry pickingâ opponents who do not drop and have decent ping, Iâm fine with that. As long as they also donât get to see a gamertag at that point.
Order should be something like first ping/drop stat is displayed, then playher gets 5 seconds to validate the match, then they are locked in, tags are shown and the game commences.
When you say devs required, is that a Microsoft practice, or could a company just say this is how weâre gonna do it?
One idea I have
people pick their filters, such as close rank/min connection strength/max drop level, then every 10 seconds or so, the server matches up people, no one has to host or join, server does that automatically.
Doable?
In the just released Samurai Showdown 2 on XBL, you can see who is hosting the ranked matches before you join one and who joins your created ranked match before you start it. This does, as you suggested, lead to cherry picking (I had a guy kick me out of his set ranked match because I beat him before).
The only good thing about the way SS2 does it is you can see the pings before joining a match or starting a match when someone joins yours. If they did this with just the PINGS and no NAMES it would be perfect, especially since the netcode for SS2 is awfull and unplayable at pings over 100.
As we (apparently) draw closer to an actual release, I have a big question! Who here has a PS3 and an Xbox 360, a controller theyâre comfortable/familiar playing on for both systems, and plans on buying SFHD for both? ie. Who here will be in a position to provide a reliable opinion on which console has the better online experience?
Iâm betting sabre can do that
SweetJohnnyV should be able to as well, unless he is a big fat liar. He told me he would buy it on the PS3 as well so we may do battle.
LOL! Yeah, Iâm going to pick it up on both. Donât worry, we can do battle :wgrin:
Awesome stuff, doggies.
Iâll get it for both too but my stick only works on ps3/pc so Iâll need to get a modded hori grrr why canât they have one stick that works on both without using project box:bluu:
I hope nearing the release means it releases next month.
âŚyou know XBOX LIVE >>>>>>>> PS Network
^ ^ ^
Thatâs a pretty strong assumption since both infrastructure models hold their own pros and cons, not to mention we havenât even seen SFHD itself running on either online setup, let alone the communities that will form around it. Opinion appreciated, but weâre going to have to wait and see.
If anyoneâs interested, this somewhat related thread is discussion about which of the two consoles will be best for fighting games.
if its been posted before am sorry but i found thisâŚ
the game comes out the end of october
âŚso 1 1/2 months?
sigh
VF5 letâs you see who youâre playing against as does ss2 and a couple of other games.
I have both and will get the game for both
