Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

And that brings up another topic, they need to do something about people dropping from matches.

If you can tell who dropped then they should get a loss, droppee gets the win. Who cares about rank padding? Unless the way its ranked is different from cvs2/AE etc, in which case the following is a load of balls, your standing in a leaderboard is almost pointless as people who play a ton more will amass points to push themselves up ahead of you regardless if they’re better players or not. your own win/loss percentage is all that matters.

Why not just remove the quit option in the ranked matches pause screen. I guess they could always just turn off the system or pull the network cable out, but at least they would have to do something besides START, UP, A. to drop. If they unplug it then they will be forced to wait for the XB360 to reboot, login to LIVE, Select the game, wait for game to load, then wait again for a match. That seems to me like a lot to wait for and would discourage people who have a high drop rate. I guess the network cable thing is still an option, but most people would still have to get up and unplug it, unless they are sitting right next to the xbox with the cable facing them.

Win/loss ratios also shouldn’t be the only factor - this encourages crap players dropping from games with better players, and going ā€˜newbie hunting’. On the other hand, legitemately good players are much more likely to be playing challenging opponents, and will most likely have a much lower ratio than someone who sits and beats up new players all day and leaves every time a good player enters the room.

Disconnection should be an automatic loss not matter what the cause, this needs to be made clear from the start aswell. Even better if you are notified when you go into a game that system detected a disconnection so you have been awarded a loss. simple

However I do not think it would be good if the winner be awarded points for someone that disconnects either.

Is original mode with original graphics still included? I know it was supoposed to be. That what I’m buying this for. Hopefully online is better than Mame ST, or there would be no point.

Original sprites, not original graphics. The backgrounds (and probably lifebars etc) will all still be in HD remix style.

Stop using Kaillera get yourself onto GGPO whilst you still can :wonder:

I still contend that the person who dropped should get TWO losses. It should be harsh enough to stop people from ever dropping ever. There’s really no legit reason for people to not be able to commit to a 2~5 minute match. And the frequency of your internet just conking out isn’t enough to argue for being lenient, IMHO.

EDIT: The winner should get points for winning when someone drops on him/her. Everything about the setup should make it as awful as possible to drop. There’s nothing about a dropped connection that’s fun.

After this game is out someone at Capcom should write a lengthy article on why you don’t let internet personalities do any PR work for a video game. If they never started the digital blog I feel like the flow of information for this game might seem a little less ridiculous. Then again we might be stuck with a game that has horrible netcode and ridiculously bad sprites if they didn’t.

Basically I’m a torn man who wants to see a new goddamn character already.

if the connection sucks i’ll drop out and look for a new opponent, i’m not bothered to wait 5 mins in cvs2 to play a match or even 1 min really. I understand people care about their records so thats why i want droppees to get a win, i dont care about my record so i can handle a loss, i just want to play in a good connection and not waste time honerably waiting for someone to beat up on me so they can get their points.

You’re funny man.

no updates make Homer go crazy :looney::mad:

So is anyone else excited by the hitbox mode? I’ve been waiting for years for a game to do that.

Shit. What about original moves and gameplay?

I’m waay too big into ST and AE to really accept any of the shit they want to do, especially since they want to REPLACE ST with this. I dont want any character I use to be shittier than they were before, even if in only one way. Its like how the dragon punch trades or gets beat out in newer games, as opposed to its original invincibility. I hate having less to work with. I can only imagine how the tiers change and then you gotta gotta someone shitty in regular ST to win, because someone good in regular ST got a certain nerf, as opposed to the other characters buff that may switch that matchup around.

Basically, I’m not paying for HDR, I’m paying for ST on a system with online IF original play is included. If not, I wont get the 360 version (I have a fresh modded controller) and if someone I know shares, I will only get the PS3, if its free.

Hopefully this game ISNT out by Seasons Beatings 3. I had a very close ST set against JWong, and that shit was on Dreamcast and I didnt even have a converter or controller of my own. I want him at SB3, and I want it in regular ST on a system with a good controller.

Keep hearing about it. I’ll have to see what its all about.

once you get GGPO you woun’t play mame ever again. Trust me:woot:

Classic ST mode is in the game, but frankly it’s silly to immediately dismiss a brand new version of Street Fighter II. If everybody used that logic we’d still be playing WW.

They should have a skill/rank system like on HF. A drop can count as a loss and also cause something like 1.5X the skill loss, min 5 points. That way Players with low ranks feel like they can drop on highly rated players with impunity. Skill points could follow a model like a chess or go server.

You know, the power to have substantive conversation is in the hands of you guys who actually know stuff. Please, someone talk about something they know. If you don’t want your name to be next to it, you can pm me or email me at ultradpg@yahoo.com.

Nothing’s happened to me for posting up that big list of possible changes, Sirlin posted on his site that nothing in the game is purposely secret, and you can say what you know secretly anyway. I promise I won’t reveal who you are if you’re still worried about some penalty.

You’re really underestimating what people will do for rank.

Before the patch, in SFII’HF for XBLA, people would drop on the lose screen (with the winner’s quote), and NEVER get the loss, and sometimes even give a loss to the winner. There are only 3 ways to drop; turn off the system, unplug the cat5 cable, or press the guide button and go to the dashboard. Even with the patch, people still drop and sometimes avoid losses/make the opponent get the loss, and do general douchebag things. I’ve read several stories of people leaving their 360’s on for DAYS on the character select screen (a specific problem with HF on XBLA), just so their rank would not be affected (or to mess with someone elses)

I don’t know how complete the ranking system was in the beta for SSFIIT:HDR, but it has a lot of problems, and is not very good in my opinion. Several times it wouldn’t track the results of matches, many times I had people drop on me (in a fucking beta! where the ranks will get reset!) and I got the loss, or I would win and it would give me a loss, etc.

It’s stuff like that which will most likely make me stay away from ranked matches. And the fact that it doesn’t mean anything, lol
