Last push before the changes are announced then, while we’re directly comparing characters moves to other characters moves in a vacuum like all the cool kids do, i want to present this:
EX Lunge punch: EX special that breaks armour, moves character forward to start pressure, on block is safe and leaves you with +1 frame advantage, allowing you to continue into mixups, on hit will launch the opponent and allow you to juggle with ultra for big damage.
Number of times used to get in on KOK’s Fei “for free” in a 2 game set at God’s Garden: 6
Combo’d into Ultra: 0 times.

What? Never use EX Lunge again if it isn’t +1 on block? No, that’s just not true. Keeping the frame advantage where it’s at right now would be stupid as hell. Yun builds meter safely against almost the entire cast if he’s full screen. **He builds nearly a bar off completely safe strings. Yun is effectively getting in and starting his awesome offense for free against half the cast. A fourth of the cast is basically forced into throwing out a metric fuck ton of a specific normal just to make sure Yun can’t get in for free. The rest can actually keep Yun from getting in for free or shouldn’t be right next to Yun. The kicker is that if you throw out the wrong normal, which you will have to because you want to avoid getting predictable, your move gets stuffed, he gets additional damage, and he still gets to start his game. This option isn’t strong, it’s silly.
Unless they nerf Yun so hard that he actually struggles to build meter, it should:
A.) be -3 on block.
B.) cost 2 bars.
C.) have a much bigger hurt box.
I mean, come the hell on…do you really want someone with a command grab, a dive kick, an overhead, a 4f chainable short, and some of the most awesome normals in the game with 900 health / 1000 stun getting in your face for 1 bar anywhere on the screen and being +1 if you block? You’re going to eat 200+ damage if you don’t, oh and Yun gets to start his game either way.
Lots of people make valid complaints about most characters in this game just sucking, but the top 3 are more than complete as characters, they’re just too good. I guess you could just make everyone really fucking awesome to compensate instead of nerfing the “better” characters. However, that’s something that is ultimately up to the game designers because we all know the community will simply never share an agreed view on how to balance a fighting game while keeping it fun.

Why is it that other characters can’t have minus on block? Geez, people want balance but they want their characters to be able to do stupid shit. I don’t have a safe move except the nigh useless T-Rex armed AE lp.palm and it’s only safe after it hits or is blocked, if it’s not stuffed…AND it cannot be followed up reliably with mix ups because you move too far and the rest of Gouken’s arsenal is too slow to stop your mashed and safe specials.
Honestly. just don’t nerf El Fuerte again. that’s all I ask. PLEASE.

It looks like Viper got damage nerfs. 10 damage off her knuckle, 20 off her seismo, and her Ultra down to 441. Hard to tell though if that is what it is saying about her Ultra.
