If Makoto does EX Hayate perfectly spaced at max range, then yeah she’ll push you out of cr.MP range. But other than that, you can almost always punish with cr.MP xx lk Spiral xx Super.

It’s -4 on block and cr.MP has 4f startup. That means it’s a 1f link.

To be honest Akuma has all the answers for Yun’s EX Lunge. Better than most characters. You just have to know when to look for it.

I seriously encourage Akuma players (And shotos in general) to learn how to use c.MK to go under the lunge. It will relieve many of your Yun problems.

yeah, he mastered hat wearing. his hat should have fire on it because its the strongest hat in the game

buffed EX yoga blast would be ok for sim. maybe more active frames or increased inv with a decrease in damage

it wouldnt hurt his other matches much because he AAs non dive kick characters well anyway. it would be a tool just to fight the DKers

But Ex Lunge is like a charge character move. Some of the charaters in the game lack the moves to stuff it or even make it trade.

Which is why I suggested you change how it travels instead of what happens when you block it to keep the move you know… functional?

I’m not saying EX Lunge isn’t good, but it isn’t a functional move outside of combos if it’s - on block, and Yun is going to be nerfed, at least keep him somewhat good and let him have tools. If you take everything away from a character you end up with a crappy character.

ex lunge goes fairly far in 17 frames before it becomes active and it travels extremely quickly. If you keep it + frames but change the distance it travels and change the travel speed of the move ever so slightly to adjust for the nerfed distance you make it easier to react to if you try to hit later in the active frames, keep the functionality, and it still works in combos(which is why you don’t want to nerf the startup) but you have to be a bit smarter about how you use it and have to space it better to try to hit earlier in the animation. Making Yun gamble a little more but still getting rewarded is better than making him never ex lunge again.

I’m more stressed about meter build/damage/unblockable divekicks than ex lunge though. If he’s resorting to that to get in, I’m controlling the pace of the match.

Well, it looks like we can expect some details of Ver.2012’s balance changes tomorrow. Should be interesting.

Obviously I have been randomly hit by it while walking forward, but that’s pretty rare. There is always enough time to block. That shit still has some 12-14 startup frames.

And of course lp rekka is like 3x faster, that’s exactly why I said that if you were getting frequently hit by ex lunge then you’re never gonna make it against fei long.
