Official SRK Ultra SF4 Rebalance Request Thread

lol, i understand that yun runs over vega. and to an extent, i do believe yun need some tweaks. but i don’t think we should completely ruin the character and destroy what makes him essentially fun. i say just buff up the people that really need it ( mid-low/low tiers basically ), nerf top 3 slightly and the game would be much better in terms of balance. vega would probably still lose since i think by design the twins just win vs him, but it would be much more flexible for him and other characters.

You do realize that they are re-balancing the game and that this is a thread about that, right? Buffing and nerfing is exactly what they are doing and what we’re talking about.

This isn’t a new concept. Look at the SF2 series. Characters were nerfed and buffed in every iteration of it in the hopes of balancing things out. Maybe you just like how things are in AE? Well too bad. A lot of people didn’t and now they’re going to tweak things once again. You can choose to be a part of that discussion or not.

Perfect balance may be elusive, but it’s an admirable goal. But hey, since you think Gouken is OK and the player should just man up or drop him, let’s try that with your character. Looks like you play Fei and some people say he’s S tier, so let’s re-balance him, Gouken-style:

  • Change start-up on cr.LP from 3 to 4 so that you can no longer link it, thus removing his ability to confirm jabs into Rekkas

  • Change frame data far st.LP from (3, 2, 7) to (5, 2, 9 ) so that no longer link into cr.LP, thus removing his ability to confirm jabs into Rekkas

  • Change start-up on MP Rekka to 27 so that you can no longer combo cr.LP xx MP Rekka or use it in footsies

  • Change start-up on HP Rekka to 35 so that you can no longer combo cr.LP xx HP Rekka or use it in footsies

  • Change start-up on EX Rekka to 32 so that you can no longer combo cr.LP xx EX Rekka or use it in footsies

  • Change whiffed LK Flame Kick recovery to 70 frames

  • Change whiffed MK Flame Kick recovery to 83 frames

  • Change whiffed HK Flame Kick recovery to102 frames

  • Change whiffed EX Flame Kick recovery to 97 frames

  • Alter the trajectory of EX Chicken Wing to be dependent on where you are relative to your opponent, so that if you use it to escape from your opponent it will whiff and land directly behind them. Also give it more recovery frames so they can easily punish you while you’re landing.

i think we can all agree that gouken needs help, but noodie is actually right to a degree. he shouldnt necessarily have his tools play exactly out like someone elses.

why not just improve the things that he does have in a way that keeps them unique to gouken

Imagine a fast-moving special that can be whipped out without warning that has to be blocked low, can be made safe, and breaks armor. Everyone would start bitching about it quick, fast, and in a hurry.

i think the fact that its a low and comes out pretty fast pretty much should disqualify it from armor break

I agree, this argument is silly. And I hope everyone realizes those Fei changes weren’t serious. They were comical and meant to point out how absurd they’d be.

I’m not trying to argue that Gouken should play like Fei (or Akuma, or anyone else). But to choose Gouken, of all characters, as the poster boy for telling people they should stop asking to get their character buffed is absurd. Gouken’s got some real problems.

that gouken combo does 450.
vipers does 396.

It’s called Hakans slide. ;D But in general Hakans slide is ass, and he needs something that breaks armor so he has that. Cammy doesn’t need her Spiral Arrow to break armor. She’s fine the way she is.

yeah, but vipers gonna land a jump in every now and then when youre trying to block a crossup burn kick thats not there. her damage is actually practical, and she can hit confirm that last portion, in addition to it being able to be made safe

good luck on gouken getting a free jump fierce. i say if he actually does get a hit, make it hurt more. then maybe theres a reason for his safer shit to be sub 200

Your post simply highlights my point - balancing is one thing, crying for wholesale changes is another. You would have a valid point if Fei had been drastically changed since his Vanilla days, and the fact is he hasnt, so your entire argument goes up in flames. These suggestions are tounge in cheek I understand, however sad thing is this is the type of garbage that people are suggesting for various other characters.

I understand there are issues in AE and I have acknoweldged that quite a few times, in your blind rage to argue you must have missed that. However people are asking for abilities and traits their characters NEVER possessed, which is utter crap. If someone is requesting something that wasnt present in vanilla (if their character was there) or Super, then that point and suggestion needs to be tossed in the gutter.

You want to know my suggestion? Just put everyone back where the hell they were in Super and call it a day. That is all that needs to be done. People bitching about ALL OF FEIS BUFFS are simply highlighting the fact they have no idea what they are talking about, as he barely recieved any.

And lets not be stupid. Try to understand my point first. And I didnt pick Gouken as a poster boy for my argument, I merely was quoting a discussion someone else already started. And I am more than willing to be part of the conversation, it is just that there is so much stupid shit being discussed that it is drowning out the great suggestions being made , which I also already said, but you chose to ignore.

Gouken problem is never damage. It is landing that damage

Why are you the only one who understands what I am trying to say? People are asking for fixes that completely change the way the character player or makes them stronger in an area they were never strong at to begin with or intended to be strong in. Changes need to be made to improve upon and balance what Gouken has, or has possessed in the past, not entirely new things to make him play like Ryu, Ken, or Akuma, or put his skill set on par with Sagat.

im just saying if theyre going to stick by this no hit confirms/mediocre zoning/ass defense, really make his damage over the top.

if thats going to be his one and only good area, make it his best in the game by far area
