Official SRK Ultra SF4 Rebalance Request Thread

Do you guys believe everyone deserves a 3f normal?

If I’m not wrong, about 55 to 60% of the cast has overheads, and few without 3f normals.

edit: looks like roughly about 70% of the cast has 3f normals.

I would find use for it even with its limited range, it can help him out of some point blank pressure situations and frame traps. I think a 3 frame low short attack is one of the most underrated normals in SF4.

Guy has 3 frame cr.lk.

Seems like from skimming the frame data, 3f normals are pretty luxurious to have yeah. So it is probably not something Capcom would throw out freely. I thought more people had 3f normals in one way or another.

No nerfs are needed for her.

Making EX Soul Throw less damage when it wasn’t already used?

1f links are okay in this game; they don’t disrupt anyone’s game play, but changing her backdash changes Rose’s game, she’s supposed to be a palette of Chun Li -> the motion version of her.

Sparks are okay at 80 and are okay the way they’re set up now; that’s how they worked in alpha.

Lowering her stun if they gives us back that Ultra is fine, but if they’re just going to lower stun, like why make her worse?

If we can combo off of it now, we’re mostly fine.

not if they have a command grab, or are top tier already…and not sim he needs to eat it in close since his zoning is so awesome.

Yeah, that list isn’t factoring in their specials and such, but just normal wise, we can look at why they don’t have it too. I mean when I stare at data like this, if so and so doesn’t have Y or X, they got Z. And even if someone has all X Y and Z, it doesn’t mean they have to lose it too.

What if we could have X and Y deal more damage rather than giving them a Z move? A free patch from Capcom means a small budget on development. Changes are expected to be at a minimum at the very least.

I like the U2 stuff and the EX Soul Spiral. I would be fine with soul spiral combos as is if EX could get like a 10-20 damage increase. Or maybe make mp. Soul Spiral more damage.

I don’t know about the buffs to her lights. I mean cr. strong is such a good tool and only 4 frames. It should be a 1 frame link to combo into it i feel.
I wouldn’t change her fireball strengths really. I mean, yea light fireball sucks for fireball wars, but thats what reflect is for. It’s still quite useful from long range as a zoning tool. I would be fine with an all out nerf to soul spark damage for a lil less recovery across the board.

Not down with a backdash or stun nerf unless she is getting some more damage output.

I really think they will do a good job balancing this time around, they tended to overnerf and I dont think they will make that same mistake again. Take the top tiers down a small notch and some small tweaks to the low tiers and this game is golden.

They can even leave everything the way it is now and just do damage output nerf/buffs ONLY if they want to save on budget.

Christ, Anton. Just because you love the misery of your character sucking ass and doing miserable damage for hard ass links doesn’t mean everyone has to.

Normal soul throws would do less damage. This is to balance combos into them being made easier. EX would stay the same b/c it’s main purpose is anti air.

Having any character in this game be all 1 frame links is beyond asinine. You know what are logical 1f links? lights to heavys. What isn’t? lights to lights or lights to mediums.

All of these changes are to be made together. The lower stun and reduced backdash length are tradeoffs for U2 back and an invincible soul spiral and greater offensive options.

C.Strong isn’t that great on it’s on merits. It’s got a good hitbox, sure… but it’s -3 on block, meaning you almost have to cancel it to keep up pressure, and the only safe thing she can cancel into is Roundhouse drill at max range, which asks for an uppercut to the face. Ryu’s c.MP links to fucking sweep, why is it so crazy to have rose’s normals have good numbers?

Also, I buffed several things that would increase her damage output. Making Lights better on hit increase the viability of spiral combos. making c short +5 makes linking to C.Fierce a one framer, increasing hitstun on fireballs or dash lengths makes FADC combos into ultra much easier and actually practical. Making U1 juggle increases damage, etc. etc.

The only rose I’ve consistantly do combos outside of LP,LK,MP, spiral is freaking sako, and that’s just stupid. Let people have fun with the character.

I get what you’re trying to say, and I don’t like the patch either. However, after having their characters nerfed into the ground, I think some people have a right to have their characters get buffed (not all of them obviously. Some characters are right where they need to be, like Ken and Viper).

Some people just want to throw the nerf hammer everywhere, and I don’t like that though. >_>

Look You can disagree with me and I am cool with that, but I will say I am no scrub and I know my options with Akuma. I was barely short of making it out of a stacked Evo pool (Lost to Marn).

Your right about Akuma’s options against Blanka for the most part, I already knew all of it before this thread.

It is because I know that I say Blanka has it easy compared to 90% of the cast. He still has to deal with pressure but it can be managed.

I am also of the opinion the match up isn’t in either’s favor. It is just a matxh up that sucks for everyone involved. I hate it even though I have won most of my encounters.

You’re the only Rose player I’ve seen saying that her links are too hard and totally affect her game. You NEED to get past the execution barrier, her hitconfirms are fine.

That’s because Ryu’s sweep is fast and Ryu’s crouching strong is not as good as Rose’s hitbox/hurtbox wise. I don’t see Ryu’s crouching forward beating any of his normals.

Making crouch short +5 would make it +2 on block, that’s much too good for Rose. You’re also asking for a buff on hitbox, because your combo would be cr. short -> crouch fierce, the hitbox of crouch fierce would never allow Rose to go “crouch jab, crouch short, crouch fierce”.

Correction; Sparks in ALPHA 3 pushed back 3 character spaces. It didn’t in Alpha 2 AFAIK and AFAIR.

What they need to do is make it so that cr. strong combos into itself on counter hit; that’s what happened in the old alpha games. Maybe make her far medium kick cancellable, but even then I feel that is asking for too much. +4 on her far medium kick? That’d make it really really really dangerous - 190 hitconfirms with her best footsie normal, I’d take it.

Her frames are fine, I consistently hit her crouch short crouch strong combos, it isn’t hard, it’s just that you’re either a Rose player or you have decent execution, it’s essentially a two frame link anyway.

Rose by design was never top tier, even in Alpha 2, she was outclassed by 4 characters. 5th in a 17 character game? That’s about the middle of the high tier? She was the arguably the worst. We’re just trying to make her better and fit this engine more. Her spirals are a good design for armor breakers they just need to fix it to be more consistent.

But her combos and frames should mostly stay the same; that’s what they’ve been doing. Have you noticed the pattern? They change soul piede and sweep because they don’t want to touch her other normals because they work fine.

My main necessity is EX spiral being completely invincible and totally living up to its properties.

But changing to her frames; Capcom thinks Rose revolves around crouching strong and going for chips and frame traps and almost risk-free risks.

She’s not Viper by anymeans. If you want to change frames; do it to what they change frames to in every game; her sparks and her roundhouse attacks.

ON THAT NOTE:: I BELIEVE SHE DOES NEED MINOR/MAJOR BUFFS TO HER GAMEPLAY. I JUST DON’T THINK THAT CHANGING HER (lights) NORMALS AND BACKDASH IS THE WAY TO DO IT AT ALL.

Essentially, as a rose player, there are 3 things I see them doing that’ll make me happy without pissing off the rest of the players:

1.) Make EX SPIRAL invincible through startup. It’s slow as fuck. The least it could do is be totally invincible.
2.) Make her fireballs better. Anyone ever look at the total frames for fireballs? If we take ryu as the average(45) then characters like guile, akuma, and sagat would be fast(29, 44, 39 for high TS respectively). Ken, Sim, and Sakura would be considered slow(47,48,48). WTF do we call rose’s fireball than(52). Holy shit. Being 3 frames slower than ryu makes sim’s fireball ass. What about 7 frames than?
3.) Lower the startup for U2 and EX ST. I mean seriously? It doesn’t have startup invulnerability as is. Your going to make it slow AND have shitty hitboxes? And EX ST is just plain slow for an reversal AA.

Please please please bring back a proper air tatsu to Akuma, Oni and Ryu/E.Ryu! That weird floaty, running out of stream air tatsu is just, well…weak…

Juri needs a strong wakeup option and a looser window for U2 to connect after the wall bounce, not sloppy just a little wiggle room.

Fix any weird hitbox issues… ie, Juri U2, costume issues and tone down Yun a tad…other than that GET HYPE! and GAME ON!

Since we are all asking for things like a X-mas wish list, Feel free to remove Blanka from the game altogether (just troll’n with that one) seriously though lol

As an Akuma mainer, I find myself screwed when fighting Blanka, anything I try is always stuffed. Im not whining but seriously, what to do??
