It was a shocker for me. Especially knowing that it can also be linked into other things, like ultra.
The biggest things Yun needs nerfs on are: DP (more recovery or longer start-up, less invincibility), dive kicks (more recovery, less priority).
Also, why is Yun’s shoulder move better than Guy’s elbow?
I think you’re still playing super because everyone pretty much agrees that Ken>Ryu now. Ken also does better in all the match ups Ryu struggles in, but I’m not saying that Ken wins those matchups, he just does better.
Yeah, Ken is arguably the best shoto in AE. Saying he needs help is sort of ridiculous.
Keep away Akuma…lol!
I’ve never played a good high level Akuma who ran away.
I did not realize how well Ken does in Ae. Still some variety could not hurt. Truth be known T Hawk and Hak need help.
Sucks. It should.
But ducking straight breaking armor is kind of bullshit.
The only decent normals she has are her cr. mP (+2 on block),close mP and close light kick (+3 on block). The rest of her normals are pretty much shit. Most of her attacks are easily dodged by just N-jumping with a decent normal, forcing her to take risks. There werent a lot of Vipers in Vanilla since everybody got on the Sagat+shoto bandwagon and EVO wasnt full of Vipers, it was full of the twins. Just because 2 Vipers made top 8 doesnt mean that there were a lot of them. Viper just happens to to fairly well vs the twins and shotos.
Top 16 characters too good? If you said top 8 ok, but 16? Not only is the top 16 highly debatable, it is not a indicator for characters being too strong. Some characters just have been nerfed too much and thats hurting them in match-ups vs characters that havent been nerfed, are slightly nerfed or slightly buffed like Gouki, Fei or Viper. Imo dhalsim and Guile got hurt too much making their match-ups vs Viper (or Fei) even harder, for instance.
Mostly option selecting and HJ cancelling since you absolutely need to know how to do both and pull them of consistently if you want to be decent (and dont want to be punished for a minor mistake). Ofcourse the high execution demand itself is a barrier that Rog, Yun and the shotos do not have to go past to be seen as a threat.
I’m not even sure how high level Goukens play properly. The only ones I’ve seen doing successful from Japan are Desora and Bullcat. Gouken’s good in close range, his far range zoning is decent. Mid range he feels slightly vulnerable but he can hang with most of the cast on a 5-5 level. I still just feel that damage increase on most of the characters is the best and most safe solution so far.
Nah, no need to break that tradition from Super Turbo. He’s fine.
Maybe make Bison ultras just hitting four buttons instead of charging too, that’d be cool so I can hit it on reaction while I walk forward.
so when you posted this…
you actually meant to post this…
lol, not gonna jump on the viper hate bandwagon, but just because a character is harder to play than others dosent mean that they are entitled to free bullshit.
id be pissed if i played any of the other mixup based characters. their shit isnt close to being as safe. fuerte is just as hard to play IMO, and he sucks
Nope, we are going to hate on her because she made it into top 16 and Dhalsim did not. According to posters like Satyamdas, not top 16 = not competitive. So we must hate it because 2-3 vipers made it to the top 16.
Im not a Yun player but:
I honestly dont think the startup/recovery of Yuns DP needs adjusting, I think a change in how far he travels on whiff would be a better nerf.
His DP (up kicks or whatever) seem fine to me except the fact that if you do bait them he tends to fly away far enough to limit your punish options or to reduce your options to low damage.
Or maybe thats the point o_O and just a tweak to his frame advantage on blocked normals would be enough to drop him a bit.
I hope Capcom dont go overboard with nerfs… I think changes to Yun and Yang’s (yes yang too) + and - frames on their moves would almost be enough.
I’d say Fuerte is even harder to play because he doesn’t even come close to the amount of damage viper can do with one combo with just one bar, god forbid you’re anywhere near the corner when she does. Fuerte needs to keep guessing correctly atleast 3-4 times just to get that kind of damage. Not to mention his weird ass nerfs in AE which makes him even worse.
People that think that difficult execution justifies viper being top tier are people that invest no time into the game and like to watch the game because of flashiness. I think if everyone knew back in vanilla that Viper was really good, a lot of people would have invested the time into her, rather than their current mains.
That would obviously be WAY too easy, at least you can be somewhat mobile with a back charge ultra, Guile’s(and others)downcharge ultras just plain suck, same with vega’s U1.
If they cant make U1 more useful, then at least make U2(Sonic Splash) do DAMAGE again, or startup in less than a half hour. Heck I would even like U1 to at least get a startup frame buff. Guile’s ultras blow.
i always felt that his ultra 1 should have like a 5 frame startup and a good hitbox so it would be a good AA.
with that motion, hitbox, and startup, you have to be sitting there predicting a jump rathe than just reacting
The problem is if you nerf viper too much you destroy the character. No one would want to play a character with a high execution if there is no reward.
Gen, Viper, Akuma, Seth, and others with high execution or learning curves can’t be mediocre or else it isn’t worth playing the character. Especially when you can get more with less effort.
The only thing I would change with Viper is maybe a very slight stun reduction and matbe like 50 damage off her Ultra. Other than that don’t touch her.
Give T.Hawk EX spire from light moves, make tomahawk buster a viable reversal and/or make it FADCable and T.Hawk might be a little more interesting. I like him how he is now though, EX Dive is really good.
gen and seth are kinda mediocre in contrast to viper. i wouldnt call akuma high execution either
