thx for the help zeetes
I’ll keep ppl posted if I buy any of these
EDIT: If anyone with any of these can test them on a PC running Windows Vista I would greatly appreciate it too. ;D
I purchased this auction on June 9: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220425857915 ($15 from seller ‘litianedup_wifi’).
I received it yesterday which means it took 11 business days (15 real days) to arrive. So far I’m happy with my purchase. I was playing on a Madcatz SF4 Fightpad before getting this item and it only took a few minutes to get used to it (not surprising, layouts are similar). Anything I could do on the Fightpad I can also do on the Saturn controller.
My item looks exactly like the pictures posted by bernardobc a few posts up (other than the color of course), but there is one exception – on the sticker on the back, my controller says “ISS-5001-02” instead of “ISS-5001”.
If anyone has any questions about the pad or wants me to test something on it, let me know.
The pad was recognized by Vista and all buttons and d-pad are registering correctly.
Awesome, thank you for testing, with SF IV coming up on the PC I think I’ll almost certainly grab one or 2 of these.
If I have more questions I’ll post them here or PM you for sure, thank you for your readiness.
Just in case anyone cares these also work perfectly on Windows 7 x86 and x64. I bought a couple when they very first popped up with Vampiro and the MarkMan incident and they have held up great.
I have 3, all from litianedup and they are all legit. I have tried them all on Vista and they all work fine with plug and play.
I’m going to answer your PM here because I don’t have enough posts myself to respond to your PM. Plus, other people might have the same questions anyway.
Quoting your PM:
From a design perspective, the Madcatz SF4 controller is better IMO. The Madcatz controller’s buttons are all equal in size and height, whereas the Saturn controller’s top 3 buttons are smaller and slightly raised higher than the bottom 3 buttons. I also think the Madcatz feels more comfortable to hold because of its size – the Saturn controller is perhaps a bit too small.
However, the Madcatz controller has a fatal flaw which led me to stop using it (hence why I bought a Saturn controller). The controller will randomly (but frequently) trigger “ghost” button presses – as in, it will trigger a punch or kick out of the blue. If you think it’s annoying to eat a huge punish combo when you make a silly mistake, imagine what it’s like when your controller causes it.
So basically, I seriously recommend against the PS3 version of the Madcatz controller, although I don’t know if the XBOX360 version has the same problem. (The XBOX360 version is wired so it might not be affected.) I think the Saturn controller is the best option for pad players, especially for the price.
Thats the same guy I just bought two from week before last off of ebay, just got them yesterday and tested with SFIV and KOF XII. Works like a charm…now if this only worked for the 360. :smokin:
i still use my pad frequently. it’s great.
Seriously, I love mine. Works like a charm.
Sorry for bumping the thread, but I’m sure this will relieve many owners who are in doubt whether their pads are original or not.
Only the original ones will work on the PS3. So, if you have a PS3 or any friend with one… test it.
it will work on the PS3
Wow, digging up an old thread here, sorry!
Those of you who play with these pads, do you have any problems doing FAs or throws? In one of the threads about these the poster said he was having difficulty pressing a top and bottom button simultaneously, and that’s bad news. Any thoughts?
If anybody can help im having an issue with mine…
First off mine is genuine. With that being said my problem kinda makes me doubt the quality of the controller. If any of u have ever opened yours up you will see the rubber pad that fits over the d pad that pushes against the circuit bored in each of the 4 basic directions. Now mine has rips in 3 of the directions and I have had the thing for maybe a month and a half or so. I had a sega genesis 6 button controller (which looks almost identical on the inside) last for years with that d pad rubber piece still intact with really small rips…after YEARS of sf2 hyper fighting beatdown.
Now what I want toknow is where I can get my hands on these pads? Or am I better of just getting an entirely new controller?
Even though I’ve got the playsega controller supposedly on the way (supposed to ship soon if they’re not lying to us), I’ve been considering ordering 2 of these from ebay. I’ve really been wanting a good pad for emulators.
such tough choices. i don’t suppose anyone else who has ordered some from playsega received any notice about shipments have they?
I ordered 2 pads from playsega and haven’t received any notifications yet.
Anybody looking for a pad might wanna check this out. Gonna need adapters though. Price is right.

That controller looks like it doesn’t have any shoulder buttons which would make it nearly impossible for anyone to do a 3P or 3K. But damn, that’s cheap.
I’m pretty sure that it is a knock-off of the original 6 button Genesis pad. Might be useful for people that are playing older games.
