Official SEGA Saturn PC & PS2 Control Pad Thread

I got a legit one the same month I bought my Mayflash. The dpad is perfect, just like my official saturn controllers.

they have an auction up right now for 14.99 free ship from litianedup_wifi that ends in a few hours - black ones

i bought one of these, a bootleg
it works well… for the most part. The dpad is sort of messed up, the up diagonals dont register correctly soemtimes, like if youre standing still and you try to do a straight jump into a forward diagonal jump it works only 1/2 the time, also fireball motion sometimes makes me jump up
otherwise the buttons are great and it feels great + it was cheap

How come you could use PS2 to USB adapters on PS2 fighting games but not the Saturn USB? It just boggles my mind. I’ve been able to use both the Nubytech pad and joystick with an adapter to play any PS2 fighting game. I also have a regular Saturn controller but can’t find any adapters for sale anymore. Cruel world we live in…

Am I just looking in the wrong place or has somebody actually figured out how to get the Sega USB to work for PS2 games?

They’re usb pads…there’s no way to plug them into a usb adapter (what would be the point?)

There’s no converter for them to work on a PS2. Here’s a DIY route if you are desperate enough like I was.

i’m in the process of packing to move, and while taking a break i decided to take a few pics:

this is for you kyle <3:

the dpad on all three are nearly identical. i’ve used the hell out of my usb controller since purchasing it, and it’s held up really well. knock off or not, it’s surprisingly well built.

God that’s sexy. Between that and your ASCII obsessive we have to be friends. /homo :lovin: I feel inspired to go setup a WordPress site with that theme.

haha. i don’t really have any other obsessions (other than my namco ps1 fetish)

What’s the story on those? MarkMan is obsessed with them as well.

it would be easier if i said the only thing i DON’T like about them is that the stock spring is fairly limp. stock buttons are highly responsive/sensitive/well made. slant/size/weight is perfect for me. one of mine is 100% stock, the other i replaced the spring with a jlf and added an ls-32 spring with a modded jlf square gate (not to mention they came stock with omron switches). i don’t know, i just love it.

I bought one of the white knockoffs in Markman’s original post, and I’m not happy with the triggers at all. Very mushy. And it feels like the two halves of the controller aren’t together tight enough.

Has anyone played with this model any? The triggers have foam padding between them and the PCB’s pushbutton. I’m afraid to take the foam out to see how it feels, because I don’t know if I’ll be able to get it to restick if necessary.

And two of the cheapo screws stripped the first time I opened it up… Grr. Not sure what to do with this one, other than using the rubber bits to replace the ones on my other pads when they wear out.

Hey guys, currently I got a grey one from this seller since I saw some guys here bought some and said their pads were original, and I want to know if mine’s its a bootleg or not. So far it feels like a real saturn pad, but I want to make sure about it before leaving feedback.

Here’s some pics.

Thanks in advance for the help

bernadobc, from those images you gave, those things definitely look legitimate. It’s got the SEGA logo on the front face of the controller and the model number sticker on the back. The last test you can do is see if the SEGA logo is also etched onto the USB connector. If it is, then you’re golden!

There’s a SEGA logo as well on the usb connector. Thanks for the validation! :lovin:

I recommend the seller as well, very fast shipping for international matters (HK->Chile = around 2 weeks, normal shipping)

Hi guys, I’m about to buy some of these controllers and I had a question.

These are all USB controllers, and I can tell by the pictures that the plugs on the end of them are USB plugs. The auction listings however list that they are compatible with all Sega systems. I would be quite happy to have these do double duty as both PC gamepads as well as controllers for my Saturn console, but USB plugs are nothing like the plugs for Saturn controllers.

Do these happen to come with adapters that allow them to plug into a Saturn, or any other Sega system for that matter? What do the auction listings mean when they say that the control pads can work on any Sega system?

Thanks,
Tahrbow

Hi everyone, I’m considering getting one or 2 of these for myself here’s some questions to anyone out there.

-Anyone tried them on Windows Vista? Do they play fine? Just plug and play?

-Has anyone confirmed that litianedup and litianedup_wifi are indeed the same legitimate seller?

-Also some listings appear to mention some were made in '94 others 2004, can anyone say if both are legit? (maybe people with legit controllers can see a serial number or the something like that for this?)

Thank you all in advance

i can’t confirm on vista, but i’ve bought both of mine from litianedup_wifi and they are both excellent controllers (they are stamped with the SLS on the back, and SEGA on the plug), not sure if they are “legit” or not but they have held up very well and are pretty damn close to the original saturn pad.

edit- if i remember, i’ll look to see if i can find a serial number on the controllers but i don’t recall seeing one

or at least if you can still see the auction from which you bought them you could say if it says 2004 or 94, btw are yours grey? it seems the greys are the ones people less complain about

both are black, hold on let me check ebay
