Official Resonance of Fate Thread

The game is out now for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Developed by tri-Ace, creators of the Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile series. Resonance of Fate is published by Sega. There is currently some difficulty in finding a copy of the game, so blame Sega for that one. If you know where to find a copy, please help out fellow gamers and state where to find it (the store, the city, and which console).

Here are two funny vids to get an idea of what the game is like (Vashyron seems to be a total pervert):

Looks like this is the official thread

Gonna read up on the reviews. Might pick it up next week too.

Character customization sounds too good.

EDIT: Just read that it has an arena, bonus dungeons and an Item Creation type system for guns. I forgot I was dealing with Tri-Ace, definite pick up next week.

not hype for this game anymore since i heard the graphic is trash.

Boo.

Dr. B loves battle systems that aren’t needlessly complex for the sake of it.

gameplay for this feels more satisfying than FF13, i feel like trading in FF13 for this lol. although not much hype, I say it’s gonna be a cult favorite game

from what i could salvage some info

-multiple new game +'s of increasing difficulty
-customizing clothes for all characters
-guns don’t have any cosmetic looks when upgrading :frowning:

Dr. B can go to hell if he doesn’t like VP’s combat system.

Game Informer gave it a bad review. The company must not have paid enough money to Game Stop.

I have the game in my hands, finally. :woot: My bro copped it for me from Game Shack in Toronto. It was the last copy they had when he got it. $64.99, PS3 version.

yeah they don’t like it because it doesn’t hold your hand + takes actual thinking. also, they’re promoting ff13. can’t let another rpg steal it’s light. lol

Graphic whore! It is pretty weird playing this game after FF13’s graphics I bet. I wonder if I should buy this game. I never really liked Tri-Ace and I hate the SO series.

who in their right mind buys a rpg(or any game) for graphics? lol lol! final fight 13 was ALL flash and no substance(the pretty wallpaper will fool you). it’s not even a real rpg. ROF’s graphics are far from bad. this game, even in the beginning has more character and depth than any other rpg i’ve played in the last 3 years. if you want to impress your friends with super sugary graphics you can’t interact with, awkward power ranger-like dialog and repetitive “you’re not smart enough for the real thing” gameplay, ROF won’t help you. it’s a rpg player’s rpg. newcomers/noobs beware!!

Turn down the tool factor.

This game is badass, and victory over a tough opponent gives you that awesome sense of achievement. The difficulty is definitely part of what makes this game great, ANY battle with enemies that aren’t drastically under leveled can be life threatening if you don’t pay attention.

I’ve been looking to cop this ever since I saw videos of it last year. However, it does not factor in my spring game pick-up scheme. I’ll keep eyeing this thread to read up on everyone’s impressions.

How in-depth is the item creation system? Is It like Star Ocean, where you can make items or is it strictly for Gun mods?

Yah, and I heard the story is mediocre. I played Fable 2, though. So, shit can’t get much worse.

I’m only in the beginning so I can only get a few items made but they are mostly gun mods and a few ammo types. I’m pretty sure later on you can actually make other items, accessories, and even other clothes. There’s no armor in the game though so you won’t have to buy or make any of that. For equipment there are only accessories, and then the two weapon slots are taken by Pistols, SMGs, Grenades, Ammo cases, or First Aid boxes.

Love the battle system. Really hype and an interesting take on turn-based combat. The hypest game nobody’s talking about basically.

I have a question: if I want to do a Smackdown, you have to juggle the enemy first before you can do that, right?

Yessir. Smackdown does extra damage and makes them drop items AND any bezel pieces they might have picked up, but the item bonus is less than if you get a bonus shot I think.
