If a tourney is what you guys want. We can find a way to make it happen. It will have to be pay-2-play though. As far as timewise, Saturdays could work, however, RnC, and the building close @ 4 on saturdays which means that games like CVS2 won’t finish in time unless you start at like 8am and I know you can’t get anyone here for a tourney any earlier than noon. A day like friday might be a safer bet as the building closes @ around 10pm, however, you’ll be at the mercy of those who have jobs and classes on fridays. The third option is to “piggy-back” on an event that is taking place on a saturday in which another group has paid (very expensive) to keep the building open after hours, which we have done in the past. The down side is that we will be at the mercy of said groups and times, which may possibly conflict with surrounding tourneys in the area.
Finally, there must be enough DEDICATED volunteers for each game to run that specific tourney. Having one person run three games is just asking for trouble, especially if they plan to enter in at least one of them.
The rest of course is word of mouth, but that part is easy, and with the quality of machines we have now, it’ll pretty much sell itself.
Soul Calibur 2 and Silent Scope will be out of comission for at least a week. T5.1 will remain at its current pricing for the time being and Puzzle Fighter will arrive in about two weeks.
I can teach people who want to help how to run a bracket as we do it every week for the pool tournaments, but there needs to be protocol on how to run each game. If you are doing the bracket on MVC2 you can’t play on CVS2 without someone to cover the bracket on MVC2 while you are playing. Otherwise there will be confusion about who should be playing and other people will get into the mix and try to decipher the bracket which in the past has caused some people to play against others who are not supposed to and thereby ruining the rotation for everyone else.
Word. Oh, and someone should look into that tournament maker application. It automatically sets up the bracket and determines the prize money and everything.
I’d be interested in helping out with the tournies. I did a little bit of that at the Bearcade. I’d only handle 3S though. Just give me a refresher on how to run them and we’re set.
Is anyone here interested in having weekly tournies? I would. 5-7 p.m. Any day of the week except Friday.
I guess I could run cvs2 if no one else is willing to volunteer. I just need a crash course in seting up brackets or I can just assist whoever. I wouldn’t mind trying it on thursday or friday.
