Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

Yo YO,

Guess who’s a member of the psp fam now? That’s right ya boy Rodimus. Just copped a slim plat. psp.

Taito and Sep, you guys went thru some extensive stuff about it on those first pages. Im facing an Information overload right now.

Instead of asking peeps to repeat old info i’ll read up more.

Looks like i stepped in here to read about Tactics? get the f^ck outta here? Is it just like the original on psx?. Did they chage anything or is it exactly the same?

I’m gonna have to go pick this up as soon as the weather breaks here.

Septimus The genji set is with that boss Elmdor. who looks just like sephiroth and has the broken teleport-2 movement. He does in fact have the masamune also.

Peeps who are new, becareful the girls/ninjas/demons with himElmdor are more of a threat than him. take them out first to make stealing easier.

damn you guys have me so amped right now to make fft the first game for my psp.
If peeps need help wit tactics i can provide help also.

What other than FFt should i own on my psp?

Just found out I could have gotten a girl with a whip. And instead, I got Claire. GAY!

I know where the Genji set is, but I didn’t want to spoil it for first-time players.

So is there anyway to make FFT not so laggy? Would it be faster on a slim? or some other way?

so is there a good program to let me transfer files via ftp? a while back i used something that kept freezing on me

I havn’t tried it on the basic, but there is still slowdown on special moves on the Slim. Just duno if it’s better or not.

i’ve beaten FFT like 9-10 years ago. i will give it a go again on the psp. i almost forgot everything so that’s good, storywise.

be prepared for noticible lag

You could try installing custom firmware and overclocking the CPU speed to 333, however I don’t know if that will make a difference. If all else fails and you simply can’t play the game, try getting the PSX version and run it on pops…

Suposedly the PSX version works fine…

Yeah, but there’s a lot of new content on the PSP version…

It’s not so bad on my Slim.

Really, the lag just makes it an annoyance if you played the PSX version of it alot. It doesn’t make it unplayable at all, and the new content + translation balances it out.

Hell, I also noticed that loading between screens is faster, especially transitions between the map and battle setup.

Umm, which is the Squire JP boosting ability?

Also, my team still gets its butt handed to it without Ramza.

What job learns Tailwind?

Tailwind = yell or whatever it was called in FFT’s on PSX. You get plus one speed.

Ramza learns it. Use it a lot.

And yes, Ramza is very good.

JP Boost is the JP boosting ability. It costs 250 jp. I’m about to take my 5 people, turn them all into squires and hit each other till we can all learn JP Boost, Accumilate ( whatever it’s called in this game ) and move + 1.

Then I will advance the story before my characters get too high of a level where they get eaten by goblins. Then I will get into a circle and do it all over again.

This FFT’s VS style.

I am actually pretty excited to just fuck around with all sorts of job ability combinations now. I know how to just ruin the computer, but I want to fuck around and try to find new combinations. Mediator/Chemist sounds fun. Bard/Oracle might be fun too. THE POSSIBILITIES!

Im thinking about picking up a PSP tomorrow so I can play some old school emulators when Im out. Ive read through the thread and did some research and this is the list of things I need to get started:

1: PSP (Fat)
2: Memory Stick
3: USB cable

Downgrading:
4: Lumines (my friends has one)
5: Official 3.5 update
6: 3.50 Downgrader + 1.5 Firmware
7: Snes9xTYL

This video on youtube and it seems pretty legit.

I also need to get some custom firmware (I picked up Dark Alexs 3.71 M33). So now am I all set to go ahead with this? Any help would be appreciated.

Well I have no choice since I’m buying it off a friend who doesn’t use it.

You can emulate on a slim if you have access to a modded fat PSP. I made a pandora battery and “magic” memory stick with my fat (takes about 20 min if you have all the files), and you just pop it onto the slim and it can install custom firmware.

How is DBZ SB2: Another Road? I’m hoping everybody has all their moves from the get-go (unlike those 3 Capsuleball Z: Breakthrough games on ps2), and all you do is unlock characters/costumes as you play. I guess I can tolerate the budokai-type fighting mechanics, as long as it’s not all about capsules.

Lack of emulation won’t be a problem on slim for too long (neogeo and cps1+2 all work perfectly, SNES, n64, and genesis have working ports although they aren’t great at the moment) but be wary of the tv out feature: you can only display games on a tv that supports progressive scan (480p, I believe), and you can only use the component cables to do this. Otherwise, the XMB and movies will display, but games will not.
