AFAIK you can’t downgrade the S&L, that’s why people are porting their apps. You need to use Pandora to flash M33 so yeah, unless you know someone with a HB enabled PSP, you’re screwed…
Any volunteers to go someday in some MHF hunts?
It begins… NJ is back with a CPS2 emu that uses Slim’s 64MB memory (no more cache files)…
And this is where I predict that a CPS3 emulator will surface exclusively for the Slim…
I just started playing Jeanne D’Arc.
This might be the best handheld game released on either of the new “handheld” platforms so far. ( it’s up there in the top tier with Tekken DR, New Super Mario Brothers, EBA, and Loco Roco )
It’s basically a jobless Final Fantasy Tactics with a bunch of added crap. It’s fantastic in all aspects so far. ( transforming is a little broken though, but I mean your getting the power of god, so I guess it makes sense…I guess… )
It deserves way more hype then it’s gotten.
Monster Hunter Freedom would be an amazing game if it had 3 things; lock on, a real online mode, and monster life bars.
It would basically be a handheld PSO. Without that stuff it’s just a fun niche game that is way funner when you know other people. WIth just two people ( I think me and my friend are the other two people in the country to get it ) the game can be frustraiting as hell. Rewarding ( we freak out whenever we kil something ) but immensely frustraiting.
=:’(
Late to the party nigga. Just finished the 2nd set of colloseum, luther got his ass handed to him with my uber-team of 5 units. JDA is good, but somewhat on the easy side- it’s more about grinding to beat tough enemies rather than strategy. Good game nonetheless.
Just trying out D&D:Tactics right now, looks pretty damn long-winded, got a shit-load of character creation options, don’t want to make a near-useless character.
You heard it here first: R-Type Tactics is going to be **THE SHIZNIT.
**Maybe even better than disgaea and FFT- Good times for us SRPG fans.
I’m keeping an Eye Out hard for Jean d’ Arc after a price drop. TRU is having another buy 2 get one free sale so I may get it then. I dunno.
PSP owners who play the PSP umd games, why do you think DS owners and a lot of the gaming community in general hate on the PSP games when so many of them get great reviews?
Sony hate and Nintendo love. It’s what all the cool kids do. Although GBA was one awesome system and there’s not a lot of reason to envy Sony’s handheld effort with the library it had. DS has a mix of games I want to play, and a lot more ‘games’ I don’t think I could ever possibly enjoy. But if Nintendogs floats your boat, godspeed.
I don’t really care about which handheld is more popular (and I hope this topic doesn’t turn into a system war piss match), but I do hate that UMDs are so big and cumbersome compared to DS’ almost flash card-sized carts. Seriously, UMDs are by far the worst thing PSP has going for it. When I get a little free time I’m gonna rip my library and carry them on a couple 4GB sticks. Sony should look into digital distro in future PSP games a la Warhawk PS3.
I think i’m at the last battle for Jeanne D’arc
It’s fucking ridiculous. You fight Galvanoth or whatever his name is and he gets 4 back up units and a constant 3 spawning units.
You get to 9 units but the back up units either hits all of your party at once or heal Gal. for 255 HP. It’s bull…
Slow down young one. You are reading too much into this situation. Firstly your party should be @ lvl 50-60. Secondly, DO NOT split your team to take out the 4 towers. Ignore the darkest demons who spawn, and surround gilveroth. Just rush him down, using helm splitter and all your best one-square damaging skills/transforms and he’ll be toast in 3 turns. You should not lose more than one or two members of your party.
There is a way to play the game online; Too bad that the game hasn’t spawned the same interest in America that it has in Europe or in Japan, but I think it’s great just how it is. Real life has no lock on and you don’t know how are other people quantitatively, but qualitatively. And I was raised with a NES, so I have no problems about playing hard games. (killing wyverns isn’t frustrating to me at all, I absolutely enjoy it and would do more as soon as I can afford to boy a wireless router to link up with other people, what’s frustrating to me are stupid missions like “Collect 20 Special Mushrooms”). I assume that you know the way to play online, because of you saying that the games has no “real” online mode, but if you don’t, LMK.
FurryCurry: Fanboys/girls will always be fanboys/girls. I respect the DS, but its games are just not for me. PSP has most of the things that I’ve always wanted on a portable console. After all, a console is truly made by the games that you can play on it.
I’m a DS owner. It’s pretty much ignorance. I used to be all about the PSP hate, but then I gave it a shot and I love both DS/PSP. I’m pretty sure about 3/4th’s the PSP haters have never even picked up a PSP.
The thing with the DS is that it appeals to the casual gamer. Somebody who’s never played video games before will pick up New Super Mario Bros and have a blast. The same person will pick up Killzone and be like wtf is this? It’s about preference. Each hand held has it’s strengths and weaknesses.
So, anybody here ever try to do the wi-fi thing at McDonalds? I tried from the parking lot and couldn’t figure out the login screen…nothing responded when I clicked on it…unless I was trying the wrong one. I scanned and got a T-mobile spot, and a wierd spot I never heard of, but it began with mcd, so I guessed that was the one to try.
But Xlink is too much of a hassle for a game like MHF where you’d have to be online for maybe hours at a time…
A lot of people do it without any problems… it’s just a matter of liking the game enough to do it. In a spanish forum that I visit, they are in 9th MHF thread, with each previous thread having about 50 or so pages with 20 posts each, so do the math about how much do they like this game. And they organize meet each other through Xlink.
I had it for a little while, I was just playing Monster Hunter instead. I do feel like I was missing out though.
If I have to put some programs on my PSP to play it online, count me out. They should have just put a real online mode in the damn game. Lock on, Monster life bars, and real ( non program hack ) online would have made Monster Hunter a killer ap.
And yeah, I am getting the “Just Grind it” vibe from JDA. I just send Jeanne in and she demolishes everyone. It’s pretty easy to get a couple levels ahead of the enemy units. I am digging the French vibe with my punderful frog army mascot. I like Colet, asshole ninja/thief with an afro. I am at Orleans taking down the forts. I just destroyed the first fort.
It’s still a really good game so far. I’m impressed.
Ok my bro just gave me his PSP
ver 3.03(is this good to mod or whatever you guys call it)
European
How much can I get for this? I might want a “slim”
Is the SanDisk 4GB ULTRA II any better than plain 'ol sandisk 4GB…is it worth the extra 10 bucks?
Also what do I look for when shopping online for the PSP Slim, I believe certain places sell it, but they don’t specifically say if it’s the Slim or not. what should I look for?
Get it from target. Just ask for the daxter pack
well I don’t want that color or that game
also for music games, Pump it Up is a great music game for the PSP…they’re coming out with a Pump it Up Zero…which also has NX songs (latest arcade release) it’s gonna be hot!
