Anyway, bricks are an extinct fear by now, as they can be easily repaired now.
spideyman: I’d say that by today, at least in the classic model, all have the same value, as any Classic PSP, no matter the model or firmware that it has, can be downgraded to 1.5 and then upgraded to the latest custom firmware now.
lo! I actually did exactly that today. finally off of 3.10!!
I was gonna buy Jeanne D’Arc and Crush today (at the buy one get one 1/2 off circuit city sale) but by the time I was ready to leave the house the store was already closed…
no worries! I’ll get them tomorrow.
I really wanted to hold out since I dont have the time and wanna save the money… but they’re calling me!!
Oh ok, but I ended up doing it step by step anyway.
Crisis Core is great, but I think I will end up buying the game when I have money for it, the CG movies stutter a lot due to memory stick transfer limitations and it takes up pretty much 50% of my 4GB stick or all of my 2GB stick. lol
For the 1st question, because the Pandora method consists en creating a pair of Battery & MS that is similar to the one that Sony uses to repair bricked PSPs, and with it you can repair any bricked PSPs and flash any firmware to any Classic PSP and to PSP Slim at FW version 3.60. This pack can only be created in a modded PSP w/ FW 1.50 or any custom firmware with its kernel. The Bttery/MS combo can also be reversed easily to a normal Battery/MS.
2nd question: Then you can use a Classic PSP, FW 2.80 or lower to do it just with a downgrader, or you can use the Lumines exploit (needing an unpatched Lumines UMD, the ones that do not require you to upgrade to 3.51 to play the game) to downgrade a 3.50, or the LCS exploit (needing an upatched GTA: LCS UMD) to downgrade a 3.03. Any higher than 3.50, and Pandora is your only way out.
Oh my 4GB is an older model Sony Duo, I know the newer ones have faster transfer speeds. For every other game or just transferring data in general it’s been fine, but for Crisis Core, it stutters every now and then during the videos.
Not sure about my 2GB (also Sony, but a later version of the duo IIRC), but Crisis Core by itself would just eat up the 2GB and I forget how much space a formatted 2GB is, so CC may or may not even fit on the 2GB. lol
How would a foreign psp work as far as firmware upgrades? I read in here that the games are region free, but umd’s are not(not like I really care about that). I was gonna get the psp slim, until I saw the Crisis Core limited edition psp, I get paid this upcoming friday, and pending that it isn’t all sold out by then, I’d like to acquire it, but I’m iffy about how that’d work with firmware upgrades.
Only things not universal about PSPs are UMD movies… and ‘execute’ button arrangement (Circle button on a Japanese PSP is enter/execute instead of Cross), and other minor stuff. Different region firmwares should not harm your system.
So I’ll be able to download the latest us firmware on my system? If so, that’s great news and will lock me in to buy the crisis core psp(again provided it doesn’t sell out online in a week, as I refuse to pay an even more obnoxious price on ebay -_-) I’ll also be able to change the language of it to english too right?(Newb question I know, but I want to make sure I know all I can before buying it)
