Damn that cross game play for Ultimate would have been sick if it wasnt just for DLC. I was holding my breath while I read it hoping that if you bought UMVC3 on ps3 it would be free on PsVita, lol. Oh well, heres hoping they do that for more popular games though.
Yeah, I was hoping for that, too. Oh well. The only game I might buy for both platforms would be SFxT, but thatād be it.
You guys let me know when they hack it.
Itās already been hackedāwell, proof of concept (Hello World), anyway.

Well, well:

Thereās a HBL in development for Vitaās PSP emulator (not released yet). Thatās a big difference than, say, playing your Vita games from MicroSD or emulating Dreamcast full-speed.
Yeah, from what I understood in the videoās description, emulation/homebrew is limited to running it within the PSP emulation itself.
ā¦on a side note, do you honestly think the Vita could emulate the Dreamcast full speed? Soul Calibur/Project Justice, much?
PSP2000+ did it⦠at about 5fps or something horrid like that. Iād at least expect an improvement.
Iām not too big on Vita getting hacked. PSP got hacked pretty good and itās only going to get cheaper as time goes on. Emulating MAME and DC? Okay, I guess. Running Vita and old PSP games from not-overpriced flash storage would be nice. Maybe find a way to use OnLive.
Man, I really want a PS Vita - but at the same time, Iām worried about how the Japanese market is avoiding it like the plague. I know all the issues, like the memory card price and all that, but I still wants this thing.
I just hope the situation gets better - I canāt imagine the Vita would have a lot of long-term support if Japan dropped it. At the same time, this system already has 5 games I want on it on launch day alone. The 3DS hasnāt managed to get 5 titles I want for it even to this day.
Canāt wait to get in on Targetās Buy 2 Get 1 deal. Itās just going to be tough deciding on just three.
I think Japanās issue is that 3DS has Monster Hunter and Vita doesnāt yet.
I think a new exclusive Call of Duty for Vita will help win over the Western marketā¦
Yeah, handhelds in Japan are the mainstream gaming devices, especially for gamers-at-heart adults who work all day and canāt make any time to sit in front of a couch. Consoles are mostly for school-aged kids with a little more free time. If Vita flops, itās Sonyās fault for not releasing the right games, not because the interest in handhelds isnāt there (like in the West). Remember that Japan ignored 3DS until they released Mario, Mario Kart, Monster Hunter and every goddamn thing else.
Man, everyone ingnored the 3DS till the price dropped. It will be the same with the Vita. Its just too fucking expensive.
I mean yeah, but⦠PSP in Japan was at least 20000 yen ($200), cheaper than any version of Vita, at day one. DS wiped its ass with PSP for years⦠until it finally got Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter. Lower prices will always help sales but itās not going to fly off the shelves until it gets some big-name titles. They have to compete, not apologize. Wonderswan, NeoGeo Pocket etc. were all pretty cheap as they slowly died off, and nobody gave a fuck about them.
Vita is the exact same price as the PSP $249 when it launched.I donāt think itās too expensive, but some people that have a PSP now are content with it and will wait. Other people that bought PSP, say āI donāt even play my PSP that much right nowā, so they wonāt be rushing out to buy one. Also a ton of people have smartphones now with enough games to keep them distracted. It is a new era.
I used my PSP as a MP3 player at the gym, it was actually my first one. I also used it to watch movies. I use my phone for my MP3 player now. I do not game on my phone at all, because I want the dedicated controls over the touchscreen.
Thatās the reason Iād want it hacked. I own all the games on my memory sticks for my psp. Iād do the same with vita for old games if given the option.
The release date is still 2.22, right? Cuz thatās a Wednesday. Thatās a bit abnormalā¦
Yeah, I noticed that. I wonder if they want to spread out the PS3 & Vita releases, donāt know if itās permanent because Amazon has Mondays as their Vita dates.
Battery life on the Vita is on par if not better than PSP, but for those worried about it I seen the Vita portable charger by Sony.
http://us.playstation.com/psvita/accessories/browse/psv-portable-charger.html
1.5x the capacity of the Vita battery for 4-7 hours of added gaming.
Sheeeeeeit, this lack of online multiplayer for the Vita version Modnation Racers is killinā me here. That was THE game I was looking at as my first purchase⦠now, Iām just not sure anymore. I just checked out gametrailerās (incredibly half-ass and short) review of it and was reminded once again that it has no online multiplayer.
On another note⦠isnāt it an annoying thing when you see footage of a game being played that doesnāt show it off at all, or displays some all around terrible skills? Whoever was playing Modnation in the footage wasnāt doing any kind of the air-spins/tricks at all, and thatās not just for showā¦it actually gets you extra boost energy each time which is obviously an important factor in that game. Then again, it may not even be necessary since in this game youāll just be racing against the cpu-controlled characters, which I hear have been toned down greatly from their godlike console counterparts.
heh, another example of that āsorry, clueless player in game footageā thing was noticeable in this weekās Invisible Walls clip when they were talking about Double Fineā¦they showed clips of Iron Brigade (formerly known as āTrenchedā), and whoever was playing it was only shooting at the boss maybe half the timeā¦some moments he was just standing around doing nothing, while he had a missile ready to be fired at that sumbitch! You almost want to reach thru the screen and yell at the chump like āDUDE! YOUR MISSILE RELOADED ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO. SHOOT THE BOSS.ā It just gets under my skin sometimes⦠like imagine if you saw footage of Bayonetta or a Devil May Cry being playedā¦but the player obviously has no clue what to do most of the time, and just runs around doing nothing, occasionally pressing random buttons to slash at air instead of the enemies.
Back on topic though⦠Iām still looking forward to getting Vita right away, most likely⦠itās just a shame that Iām no longer all that excited about Modnationā¦maybe Super Stardust might be my first game thenā¦
I want that psv case. Iām assuming itās an airtight clamshell with a padded interior? SO fuckinā tired of whipping out the psp only to find that thereās random lint/dust on or UNDER the screenā¦trolling me.
That Vita case was/is only for that First Edition bundle for $350, itās not for sale sadly. I wanted that one too. It looks like Hori makes same style in multiple colors in Japan, Iāll end up copping that. I have that other Vita leather case, and I donāt like it. Itās either the travel case, or importing on of those hard clam shell cases.
So Iām trying to use the Vita as a controller for the PS3 and running into a number of problems when trying it on UMVC3. There seems to be a lot of input delay and pressing a button once makes it register multiple times. This is pretty terrible. Anyone having this problem?
