Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

You might me right if that is what you are remembering, but I don’t remember anything like that. I remember when SegaNet ceased operations, they transferred you to another company, not AT&T. That is why I don’t think they had any deal, because they would have just kept you on AT&T I would figure.

I remember when PSO came out, and I was playing and this other guy said he was at a mall in France. Mind was blown.

Wikipedia says SegaNet gave you a $200 rebate to sign up for 2-years. The company they transferred you to was Earthlink when they stopped. I’m not sure if I got that rebate deal or not, but I did have SegaNet. My friends had other ISPs, so I needed one so I chose that one.

I caved and dl’d Wipeout. Just wanna post my PSN/SEN ID: GTR35-T if you want that beef.

30 minutes after I left for work, UPS tried to deliver my 2 vita games I ordered from Amazon. Wipeout & Hot Shots
I’ll just have to have them hold it for will call and pick them up later.

I’m passing on Modnation Racers, I heard load times are bad, and that would drive me crazy. The PS3 version demo had crazy long load times, so I didn’t buy that either.

I have no idea how Vita games can have long load times, since it is just the card. It should be able to read that pretty fast. I heard Wipeout has long load times too, but I will deal with that.

Talked to a rep in Gamestop real quick as I was plopping down my Vita reservation. Apparently the memory cards for the Vita are NOT proprietary? I’m getting the base system (wifi-only) version through reservation at GameStop. Should I look elsewhere, like Amazon for a possibly better deal/bundle?

They most definitely are proprietary, hence the price.
I bought a Class 10 32GB micro sd for my phone for $30.
Vita 32GB is $100.
Nobody would ever buy the Vita one unless they didn’t have a choice. It is small like Micro SD, but thicker plus has a notch cut into it.

That is a great Gamestop story though, those guys never know shit.

I’ll buy a 16GB down the road, I only have the 4GB that it came with. Not hurting me right now, since I’m buying all Vita games hardcopy if I can help it.

I wonder how hard it would be to make a MicroSD card adapter that fits in the storage slot (and works, of course). The Vita cards are tiny, but still bigger than MicroSD.

Not hard at all I imagine for the people that do those things. Micro SD has 8 pins though, Vita has 9.

You can bet Sony’s first mission was make it not be able to be adapted easily. They might have a bootleg adapter that you have to keep outside the system, wired in.

I read on Slickdeals, that Target is having buy 2 get 1 frees on Vita games from 2/19-2/25.
If it is legit, I’m buying Blazblue:CSE, MVC3, & 1 other game. I wish Gravity Rush was a launch title.
I think all add Lumines to those 2, if Target has a decent selection.
Their PSP selection was anemic, the past 2-3 years.

I just thought about it but, any news on maybe a Gran Turismo Vita version? This should be a launch titleeeeeeee

No news on that, you best bet is the PSP version for now. That game isn’t that good though, no career mode, so you have a lack of progression besides adding cars.

Just chillin at home today, waiting for the UPS guy to get here with my Vita. Really excited to mess around with it.

Damn, now I really wish my tax return was delayed until the 28th. I would get Uncharted, Lumines, and MvC3.

This thread is too massive for me to read thru for an answer to my question, so I full fledge apologize if its been asked a million times. I’ve been hyming and hawing about getting one of these (PS Vita). Its nice to see UMvC3 and eventually SxT - but has anyone had a chance to play any fighting games on it hands on? I’m looking for a solution to moving my 360 with me from MD to NC everyweek (I work out of town Monday-Thursday) and its either buy a second 360, or get a portable that can do fighting games…and I look at the 3DS which has SF4 and I hate the game on there - not because its a crappy port, but its uncomfortable for a fighting game and just doesn’t lend itself well in that regard IMO. I look at the Vita and the wider design with smoothed edges seems a bit ‘better’ for fighting games, yet that doesn’t mean the control is really worht a damn or it will be comfortable for extended play sessions. Hell on top of that - as I’ve migrated to a stick after all these years, I struggle to go back to pad, and get nervous tha my already 'meh’diocre execution wll go further down south (doing BC looks like a nightmare).

so any thoughts/opinions/experience with this would be awesome. I only got serious looking at this option today so I wil lcontinue doing research, checking videos/etc, but I figure you guys would be the best starting point on fighting games/controls/execution/comfort.

Those memory cards are pretty much guaranteeing Nintendo’s continued dominance of the handheld market.

Blue ball comes slow. Sent from my fists, using 'AdoukenTalk.

I went ahead and got the Starter Kit for Vita. If anyone wants a 4gb memory card, let me know.

Has it been hacked yet?
I don’t want to get one if I can’t play PS1 games and CPS2 roms on it.

How much for the 4GB?

I’ve tried some SNK fighters on it. The dpad is sturdy and the controls are responsive. I don’t have big or small hands, but they cramped up when I have to button mash. PSP’s button size was more suitable for fighters imo, but you might have a different opinion.

Capcom/Madcatz is rumored to be making some arcade-style controller attachment but it’s been months since I’ve heard anything about that.

PSP is dirt cheap bruh.

Yeah and.

@Taito: Does it feel small in the hands? Will someone make a handling attachment much like the one that was made for the PSP?

mine just got here. soo stoked.

The buttons are about the size of the (3)DS, except sturdier and ‘clicky.’ The handheld is about as big as the PSP1000 (bigger, but basically the same).

There are some ‘Dual Shock’ handles coming soon, a couple with an extra battery pack.
