Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

How does the actual processing power compare between the Vita and PS3? I know the Vita has more ram but I’m not sure about its overall horsepower.

I don’t want anything like shit-talking about shortcomings to ruin this system’s launch and success. Somebody said earlier (either here or in the ps3 thread) that vita wipeout was slow as hell compared to console, and hopefully a firmware hack that included overclocking could fix that. I want that little fucker to be a beast, even for games I don’t like. I want players to be able to see the glitter-paint and smell the perfume on the lady-boy heroes in their jrpgs. I don’t want the battle with 3ds to turn out like ps2 vs dc.

Ultimately isn’t Sony the only one that has to worry about all that? I only hope the thing sells enough units for companies to continue making games for it. Considering that it seems doable to port PS3 assets to the PSV I don’t think we have too much to worry about.

Yeah, I hope it is successful as well. Vita, already has more games I’m interested than 3DS. My 3DS I own Ghost Recon:Shadow Wars and pre-ordered Resident Evil. I also bought Pilot Wings & Steel Diver for $5 at Bestbuy.

Vita my library will surpass that day 1.

It’s really a shame ModNation Racers for the Vita doesn’t offer online racing. You can race against ghosts of other players playing the track you’re on, and a few other online features, but no true head-to-head, at least not over Wi-Fi or 3G.

Yeah, they said they are looking into it, but I think that was just PR speak. Maybe you can use Ad-hoc party on PS3, and then if that is the case you would be better off playing the PS3 version IMO.

I think what they are offering for online is decent, the game is only $30. On the go kart racing.

Sony needs to ramp up the marketing. The only thing I see is Taco Bell, and they need way more than that. They need to have a SuperBowl add tomorrow showing the system features, showing it has original games not just ports or dumbed down PS3 games.

I don’t mind the ports at all, but that might not be enough to get some people off the fence. Hell, like I said, I have a DS and didn’t buy and don’t want any of the N64 ports they been putting on there.

Oh, yeah I said it before, that Uncharted:Golden Abyss is legit. It really feels like Uncharted, Sony Bend did a great job so far. I’m on Chapter 8.
AK-47 sucks just like in all the other Uncharted games.

I’ve been reading on a Wipeout forum (you know, with people who actually like Wipeout, not fanboys spreading reverse-FUD) that the framerate drops in the A+ challenges. You might not like Wipeout but it’s one big reason why I bought Vita in the first place. Probably won’t be a day one buy for me.

Day 1? I thought you are in Japan. Anyway, I pre-ordered it from Amazon for $30. That is half the price of the Jap version after exchange looking at Play-asia’s price. They are sell J version for $64.

This guy is a Wipeout fan, I wouldn’t call him a fanboy or anything, but he says the game is great except for the horrible loading. I believe he said in an earlier video, that the courses are wider on the Vita than the consoles, so it is a little more forgiving.

…Wait. If I get the physical copy of JP Wipeout instead of digital, I can switch my Vita settings to my US account (which has all my PSP PSN games), and still earn US trophies and etc? I’m still confused about the one-account-per-Vita thing.

Why would you get physical JP Wipeout, if U.S. version is half the price? Unless you don’t want to wait 2 weeks plus shipping time.

Trophies are tied to your account. I have Asian Uncharted and the trophies are on my U.S. account. I have other Asian games with their Asian trophies attached to my U.S. account. Sometimes the game uses the exact same trophy set and you can only get the set of trophies, then other times it is a region set, so you can get multiple sets of trophies.

edit
So the answer is yes, but you will have to wipe your Vita to switch each time.

If anyone is familiar with Lockerz(dot)com, they seem to have the 8gb bundle up at a discount with points. Just ordered the 3g/wifi bundle, dock, case and screen protector for $278 shipped. The image of the Vita is the 8gb bundle, but nowhere in the description does it state it has it. Even if it isn’t, I’ll take the 3g bundle for $240 after points and pick up the memory card later.

You can basically get anything you want imported to Japan but you either get fucked on shipping fees or you wait a month (or longer). I was gonna get the US ddl Wipeout since it was cheaper overall.

EDIT: Now why I remember why I waited! DLC (the WHD cross-play tracks) isn’t interchangeable by region. My US account will be my main (since I invested a lot in my US account already), while my JP account will be for demos and other JP-only stuff… unless Sony stops being bitches and allows multiple accounts.

I wish you could store the profile on a memory card at least, that would make switching a whole lot easier. I haven’t even gone on the JPN store, because I don’t want the hassle. I only have Uncharted, but it would be cool to get some demos since U.S. is still over a week away.

Did you notice the release dates for Vita games is Wednesday in the U.S. instead of the usual Tuesday for PS3 games?

UMD to Vita transfer program won’t make it’s way to America

That’s foul, but the fact is that a lot of games, big-name titles, were UMD-only and always will be. Rebuying the same game for less is stupid anyway, so Sony’s doing the West a (backhanded) favor.

A lot of demos were dumped on JP PSN. For example, Sumioni is nice. If you’re bored you should do the factory reset thing and give them a shot. Maybe it’ll sway your buying list.

Now what am I supposed to do when Final Fantasy Type 0 comes out over here?

Hope it comes with a free digital copy for Vita

Vita games are now on sale on U.S. PSN-SEN and Gamestop as well. I’m going to check to see what demos.

I actually had a chance to pick up the Vita and mess around with it at a dif GS…because we can’t have handheld demo kiosks in our store because there’s always going to be that one dumbass who wants to try to rip it off the wall. Anyway…it’s actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be height wise and has a nice weight to it. I loaded up the Gravity Rush demo and the screen was so vibrant. Didn’t really get to go too deep into the demo though since I was on the clock. Graphics looked damn good. If you happen to be around a GS or a BB (don’t know if they have a demo kiosk or not) and haven’t had a chance to see it first hand I suggest doing so.
