I see that the Vita won’t have PS1 games at launch. Is it guaranteed to have them in the future? This is very important for me because I want to play Dino Crisis, REs and SH on it.
Data is pay as you go, so you are not in any contract. But the data how Sony is operating it is damn near worthless. You can’t play online, and you can’t download any game over 20MB.
I’m getting a few games, just to start a library on the system.
Uncharted naturally
Most of if not all the fighters
Gravity Rush
Wipeout 2048
Lumines
All physical copies, because I like opening shit.
My local Gamestop just got the Vita for people to try out and overall, it feels nice and sturdy, which reminded me of the firm feel the phat PSP provided, something that was missing from the 2000s and 3000s.
Buttons may be a bit small for my taste, but the “clicky” feel gives you a sense that it’s really responsive and the dual analogs feel nice.
I only tried it out for 5 minutes since I was only there to pick up FFXIII-2 but so far so good. However I just don’t have the cash for it right now. Maybe I’ll simply stock up on Vita games that I really want to play such as Gravity Daze, BBCSEX, Persona 4 Golden, etc. for when I eventually get one.
heh, I was just checking this thread to mention the same thing, actually… I happened to stop by for something else and there it was in all its glory… a real PSVita there for me to check out! This really ramps up the anticipation level for this thing… I’m just not sure if I want Modnation, Ultimate Marvel or Super Stardust as the first game… I already don’t like paying such a large amount of money all at one time unless it’s a bill, so I’m only getting 1 game at launch.
I realize I’m in the minority on this issue, but I could still do without any kind of touch-screen/pad sensitivity. This might be good for Modnation and any other future games where you can create things, but aside from that I’m just fine with playing games the good ol’ fashioned way with actual buttons/d-pad/analog sticks… and yeah, this is why the DS never really caught on with me as something special. I always saw the 2nd screen and stylus shit as something that was really a hindrance to the gaming experience… maybe I’m just too old fashioned for this shit like Danny Glover might say.
I agree about the touch crap, gladly in Uncharted only the menu is full touch, the rest of the game 99% it’s optional.
When you run over a gun, you can touch the gun icon on the screen or press a button, I usually touch the screen for that.
Climbing, you can press UP on D-pad or slide your hands on the back up and down.
Modnation is sounding pretty decent, it at least lets you download ghost since it doesn’t have online multiplayer. I’m might buy it down the line.
Most touch and motion controls is lame and unintuitive, but in Uncharted when you are supposed to take pictures it is nice with the gyro, to scan around lifting and rotating the Vita to frame the picture. I actually thought that part was cool.
What size memory card have people found to be best with the Vita?
The bigger the better I would imagine. You can only buy one brand, so I’m sure they are all the same class. Mine came with a 4GB.
I will get a 16GB and be good with that, until the 32GB come down in price. I plan on buying hard copies of all my games that are available, so space isn’t going to be a big deal to me anyway.
I have heard digital copies will be around $5 cheaper than physical, which is a step in the right direction in pricing.
What is everyone’s threshold in pricing Physical vs Digital?
I’m thinking, if it is not at least 20% off, I’m getting the physical right now. That could change with the PS+ deals.
Digital copies will be 10% discounted vs retail.
I am an At&t user and I have an unlimited data plan, is there a way to use my current SIM card for the 3G capabilities? or is it going to work some different way?
havent seen any games I want yet, the new silent hill looks like trash. Might as well call it silent diablo
My heart says Vita, but common sense is telling me 3DS. But either way, I’m not getting either until my birthday a looong time from now, at the end of JUNE.
I mean I like what the Vita is capable of and all, but this game line-up is looking rather lackluster. Hopefully, the cruddy sales overseas foreshadow a nice price drop before or soon after launch. The biggest appeal for me right now is BlazBlue. I have never played a BlazBlue, and I’m trying to get into handheld gaming on the go again so I think I see myself playing it a lot. I’m an Uncharted fan, I have the first two, haven’t yet played Uncharted 3 and Golden Abyss looks good, but thing is I’m not a guy who plays linear games again and again. That’s why I play fighting games; they have lasting appeal.
3DS has Street Fighter, Dead or Alive, and Tekken is coming. But then again, you get an awkward circle pad instead of two real analogs. (You could opt for the circle pad add-on but how can that thing be better than real analog sticks?) So 3DS has a solid line-up of fighters, but a chunk of their souls is gone with the dumbed-down and untrue to console controls. PSV is looking to be so true to the PS3 that its basically a PS3 in your hands.
Right now what’s enticing me most with PSV next to BB and and Uncharted is the upcoming Final Fantasy X remake. I’m not a FF fan, I know little to nothing about the series but imo RPGs, next to fighting games are among the most replayable games out there. Shooters on the other hand lose me fast. The thing is that it’s still to be determined when exactly this remake is coming out.
3DS even now has a good line-up of games out and upcoming. I know Monster Hunter on PSP was very successful for the original PSP, but now the newest one is coming to the 3DS exclusively. Not only that but you have backwards compatibility with the original DS games. Important considering the last three Pokemon games were on the DS and remain massively popular. Plus the promise of continuing popular flagship franchises such as Super Mario and Zelda, and perhaps even more remakes of acclaimed N64 games (as seen with Ocarina of Time and Star Fox).
Then comes the price. 3DS’s price drop makes it really attractive, especially considering that you’re looking at shelling out $300 *minimum *if you’re getting even just the WiFi version of the Vita without 3G. That’s the $250 for the Vita itself, $20 for an obligatory 4GB memory card if you’re looking at playing any real games, and whatever game you’re looking to get which’ll run you around $30 to $40.
I think the Vita’s got a lot against despite me wanting it to be great. Am I being too pessimistic?
I thought the Vita had a fairly strong looking launch lineup. A big swing for me getting one at launch will be how good Gravity Rush/Daze will be. It looks really interesting. I’ll probably wait on Uncharted until i get Uncharted 3.
I think I might trade in my 3ds since the last time I played it was june of last year because of zelda and havent touched it since but the vita got so many games I wanna play and the launch lineup is pretty good I will be picking up gravity rush and maybe umvc3 I might get uncharted later down the line
Even though I own a PS3, I am not a fan of most of its exclusives, save for Uncharted. The first game I got for my PS3 Slim was the GOTY of LittleBigPlanet and that was just a distraction until I got Modern Warfare 2. Which dried up after getting level 70 first prestige…
Uncharted 2 was great while it lasted, multiplayer always was pretty barren though which was a shame considering that’s what made me keep playing after I beat the story mode. Even more barren now that Uncharted 3 is out.
So basically all I really play on it is Street Fighter and Ultimate Marvel. I only even play Ultimate Arcade Mode and do simple ABCS combos all day. I seriously got it just to play a fighting game with Marvel villains and Deadpool. I knew this in my heart even before getting it-- that online would be ass. Even if I were to take the game seriously there is no offline competition at all around me; I know nobody who plays it.
I got Red Dead Redemption like a month ago and after I beat it I was going for 100% completion but accidentally overwrote it when I was at like 92%. So now I just play it on my new file to go on killing sprees in the various towns, and if I ever go online I get trolls with tomahawks killing anything that moves.
I should be more open to newer games from lesser known companies. Taking a peek at Gravity Rush just now made me a little more optimistic.
Yes, you are being too pessimistic. If your price is a concern, you are better off buying a PSP. PSP has a great lineup, which includes 2 Blazblue games great ports of Tekken.
I have a 3DS and 3 games, will be 4 when I buy Resident Evil. 2 of the games I bought were $5 each Pilotwings & Steel Diver or I would not have bought them.
I have my Vita, with one game and will buy 4-5 more at launch.
There isn’t a comparison between the 2 right now. You buy 3DS if you want some 3D, and Nintendo first party games, that is it.I don’t have much interest in N64 remakes, and Mario Game whatever #.
wait till Res evil comes out on 3DS. Im sure vita will get some games I want maybe in a few months
This is from the 30th so could be a bit late on saying this if its been said already, but Monster Hunter is indeed coming to the Vita within the year.
It’s tax return time. It doesn’t have to be Vita or 3DS. It can be both.
Ya people might think psp was a fail but it did have some good games
Star ocean 1 and 2
monster hunter series
jeanne d’arc
kingdom hearts BBS
Parasite eve 3
Ultimate ghouls’n ghost
Silent hill origins: ps2 version sucked, glitches out the ass
Wipeout series
Castlevania X Chronicles
FF tactics
Tactics Ogre
Lunar remake
I think the problem was too many sports games
I think the main problem with it was easy piracy. The people that had PSPs were a lot more internet savvy than the average DS owner. They knew how to get any game they want for free, no need to buy an R4 card.
It didn’t have too many sports games, it had everything.
