Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

I’m considering grabbing one of these with tax return money but part of me things I’d be better served waiting. The games to interest my on it thus far and Gravity Daze/Rush and the Persona 4 for it (I haven’t played the PS2 version). It seems like it’ll take a while for those to come out.

I’m really tired of these weeaboo cunts trying to ‘sell’ the PSVita they got before everyone else and rationalizing every one of its faults. I’ll be the first one to say that the pricing model is unreasonable across the board and it’s gonna screw Sony and 3rd parties in the long run. The OS doesn’t look good plain and simple (though you can get used to it like anything else). And for a handheld marketed as a portable PS3, a lot of games fall short of expectations (although everything looks better than I remember from TGS… but Wipeout HD was 60fps, so YES 2048 running at 30fps is a letdown). Just fucking criticize the system when it’s warranted, Sony won’t pay you a penny for your ball-washing.

whoahhhh I was interested in Dungeon Hunters Alliance until hearing that price. I’ll probably still get it, but MUCH later on when it’s cheap. I have the PSN version that I got recently (Warrior level 11… that overhead slash/smash skill he has that does good area effect damage is a MONSTER. Normally I play mage or battle-mage type characters in those types of games though. This was a change of pace since a friend I played with picked the mage character… I saw fit to mix it up with a warrior. Heh, the character was named “KENPACHI”, of course.)

My priority game at launch though was and still is Modnation Racers, with Ultimate Marvel as a possible secondary choice

You have to be specific about these “faults” since you are using one.
I heard the OS is slick, not that I really care about it on an OS level. I will play games 99% of the time, so OS is a minimal thing to launch my games. I seen the Live Area and bunch of other stuff it has, I don’t see anything bad, just new/different.
Memory cards are over priced, but everybody keeps quoting the 32GB, like that version is mandatory.
My system will come with the 4GB, and I’ll buy at least the 16GB when the U.S. systems launch.

I wasn’t planning on buying Modnation Racers anyway, but why did the drop the ball and NOT INCLUDE ONLINE MULTIPLAYER?
Really in 2012?

I didn’t care for it on PS3 partly because the awful load times, so I wasn’t going to buy it for Vita.

Dammit that’s quite disappointing… heh, I’m such a Modnation addict I’d still get it though. The #1 selling point of that game for me was the customization. There has never been another game (at least not on consoles) that has given me THAT much creative freedom. Well, I’ll just be playing against the cheap ass cpu characters forever then, because there’s no way in the world anyone I know personally will be into it as well…well, there’s 1 guy, but I’d destroy him in a race each and every single time. Sheeeit, it’s like DC’s Flash vs. a constipated turtle.

y’know, sometimes it’s like there’s a secret double agent that has infiltrated the highest levels of Sony and other companies to purposely sabotage them with such terrible decisions.

Hell yeah Sony does a lot of obvious dumb shit. You should have seen their phone division when they were partnered up with Ericsson up until this year.
They tried to sell 3D TVs for $2700 and then said they are losing money in that division, and then lowered the same TV to $1300.
Samsung has equal or better TVs for half the price. The Sony name brand ain’t what it was in the 80s & 90s, companies caught up.

Why the fuck can’t Vita be played over 3G? Even though I bought the 3G version, I know it is damn near worthless to have.

Off the top of my head:

Content manager requires an Internet connection to transfer stuff from your PC to Vita (someone made a patch)

You heard that the OS is slick? I’m sure that you did, which goes back to my last post. We’ll probably hear different opinions once it rolls out in the West. It’s not horrible at all and it does a lot of good things (like instant suspend when you press Home)-- it’s just unintuitive and not pleasant to look at.

Firmware updates are not smooth processes. Nothing bad for me lately, but a couple weeks ago I had to restart my system several times after an update to access the home screen. Other people have had their Vitas lock up (until they held the piwer button for almost a minute to shut it off.

I said before that in PSP emulation, it’s very easy to bring up the touch options menu (which freezes the game controls) while you’re playing.

It’s bad enough that you have to rebuy your UMDs at a discount, but it’s flawed because not all companies have signed on or will sign on. A lot of great games aren’t even on PSN. Is Final Fantasy Zero (US) getting a digital release?

And the prices of games/accessories, particularly software that can be had for a lot less on other platforms. Not every system is perfect and nothing I said is a deal-breaker for me-- I just hate reading the excuses from different websites as though these problems totally don’t exist. Because they really want the Vita to be a hit out West. I do too but could they sound any more like tools?

Final Fantasy Zero, we didn’t get that in any form UMD or digital.
I went from iOS to Android on Galaxy S over a year ago. Yes, it was not very intuitive, after a few days it became second nature.
I have heard about the lockups, and that content manager BS.

If I was to buy a copy of PSP2: Infinity is their anyway I could give it the English patch?

Yes. Coldbird, the person in charge of the project said that the patch will come in a form of a plugin, so that people with UMDs can also enjoy the patch as well, just make sure you have CFW.

An interesting thing about the patch is that it will disable cheating programs like CWCheat, Nitepr, etc. Kind of useless if you ask me, but whatever. The guys at PSO-World must really hate cheating that much.

For more information and to keep updated with the status of the patch, go here.

Come to think of it, I myself need to import a copy of Infinity too so I can play online. Don’t want my hundreds of hours spent on PSP2 and Infinity to go to waste. :shake:

Gravity Rush is a launch title.

Thanks, unfortunatley I gotta restart completely, my PSP got stolen and I never backed up my stuff on PC :frowning:

Remember to deactivate your PSP. You can do it through Sony’s website at http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/, then go to Account Management. I had to deactivate all my devices since my brother sold his PSP without telling me. You can only deactivate all devices once per 6 months though.

Here I thought it didn’t have a firm release date. Interesting, very interesting indeed…

Does that work with PS3s as well?

I’m just getting Blazblue and Marvel…and waiting for Little Big Planet. For me, Uncharted is useless without mp (I probably feel this way cuz the first demo was the online mp beta for U2, which was my sole purpose for purchase. Shit was TOO good)

I’m the opposite with Uncharted and other games. I don’t even touch the multiplayer.
I’m mainly a single player experience type of guy, even with MMOs, I prefer to Solo.

I wish Play-Asia would hurry up and ship my shit, I ordered it Friday here, Saturday there and it said on the product description ships in 24 hours. Now description says 48 hours and I don’t have a shipping confirmation. :frowning:

All your activated Playstation products should show up on the list.

Well fuck. Go get another one, import Infinity, cheat your way as closest to where you were originally and voila.

I really want to play SRK peeps in PSP.

Play-Asia was closed for the week to celebrate Chinese New Year, fuck my life.
It will be here Friday which is cool because I’m busy with OT at work tonight and tomorrow night. It will be a nice package after work Friday morning. :stuck_out_tongue:

Worthless update.
Fedex called me this morning to tell me I needed a bunch of forms for customs.
A FCC radiation data form.
I asked the woman, how would I know what # to put?
She said FCC needs the data because it has a laser.
I told her it was PS Vita, it doesn’t have a Laser.
She said all videogame systems have lasers.
I told the dumb slut, it doesn’t have any Lasers, it doesn’t have any moving parts.

After that exchange she said I still need to fill out the forms and fax them back to them, so customs can release it to them. I call her back because they didn’t email the forms. She said they have everything they need, she thinks and I should receive it on Monday.
:arazz:
:annoy:
Shit was supposed to be here this morning.
