Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

Did anyone of you guys play Spectral Souls? I heard it had issues with slow loading times and what not. Anyways, it was ported to the Android last year and is the better version. Game is freaking awesome. I installed a new rom on my phone and forgot to back up my save files(granted I didn’t get extremely far)… I’m not even pissed off because I don’t mind starting over. lol.

Question about that data plan on the vita that I’m confused about. So the 2GB download limit per month includes say vita games downloaded off the psn store? Isn’t that like paying a extra $25 for some games? Or is the 2GB limit just related to something else? I mean I know some vita games alone will be well above that 2GB limit.

i assume your talking about the 3G Vita.
the data plan will be anything you do over the 3G network web browsing, downloads or whatever it may be
the downloads won’t be that much data when downloading

Just 2GB in a month with a “HD” portable can add up really fast. Just streaming video could go through that in a matter of a few days.

And yeah I mean the 3G model. Is there any limits I need to know about for the wifi only one? Just much slower downloads with that
right?

The 3G model has GPS (which certain games use/will use), Wifi model doesn’t. Near works better over 3G when you take Vita out and about.

I don’t really know anything about data plans for AT&T or anybody else, so I can’t really tell you if 3G is worth it for you or not. I guess the Wifi Vita is the best deal since it’s cheaper, online play over wifi has less lag than 3G, and you can still tether Vita to your cellphone or turn your smartphone into a hotspot (if it has that function).

Does your PC really have to be connected to the internet in order to recognize the Vita (for music, video, etc. transferring purposes)? If so, then that’ll cancel my order.

There’s actually a utility that blocks the Internet connection http://wololo.net/wagic/2012/01/10/virtuous-flames-open-cma-r3-released/

Sony’s on some other shit trying to monitor what everyone’s transferring. So, if you buy a Vita, and you don’t have an internet connection, you’re screwed? No bueno.

I understand the chain of events that led to Sony locking everything down, but I’m not gonna defend it. It’s bullshit but there are workarounds.

what’s the best super nintendo emu for 5.00M33-6? I have Mastaboy, gpSP, and Picodrive.

I wish I had enough money for the vita preorder

I think it’s bs that you can’t remove the battery. Everybody’s psp at one time or another just locked up or stopped responding properly, and had to have the battery taken out. Are we fucked if that happens on vita, aside from letting the battery run down?

Vita’s battery is not embedded, and can be replaced with a regular screwdriver. Sony’s online Vita manual provides directions/diagrams.

Why must Sega/ST be such an annoying dumb-shit of a company? I’ll bet this was their decision, but I noticed Phantasy Star Portable 1 and 2 both appear to be gone from PSN. It would be great if that franchise were handed off to a company with some sort of common damn sense. I was intending to just get the digital version of PSP2 so I could continue my Phantasy Star good times over on Vita, but NOPE… it appears to be game over on that plan…nice, so the game will die off with the PSP. There are too many morons making crucial decisions in this industry. Jesus H. Christ it’s like they go out of their way to make poor decisions that piss off the fans on a regular basis…fans that have continued to play the games DESPITE their regular doses of bullshit they keep putting on the plate. Whatever, I am sure that Phantasy Star Portable could be resurrected later with the power of emulation after the old PSP is completely dead (*as in… you literally cannot find another one and/or a copy of this game in stores ever again… and I hear that this game is already tough to find right now.) Sheeeit, if I had my own gaming company/development team and enough resources and all that jazz… I’d buy the Phantasy Star IP off their hands myself. It’s a real shame with such a brilliant franchise is held captive by a terrible company.

On the sidenote— hell yeah I’m still addicted to that game, obviously… 170 hours played on my main character so far (level 119;definitely NOT power-leveled like some other characters I have.)… I also forgot how ridiculous the “Bag Degga” monsters are if you’re fighting 2 or more at one time…even if they are a lower level, they’re still some of the most dangerous enemies, probably in the history of this franchise. The ones I fought today were “just” level 100 and they still got my character in a corner and slaughtered him. It’s actually funny how tough they are… almost like they’re from a different game. (*now that I think of it… if I had gone with the invincible beast form, that would’ve taken care of things since duh it’s invincible. Haha, beast characters kick so much ass… I was running with that Gold beast form at the time, and that’s kind of a liability against such an enemy that can destroy your HP so quickly.)

I already given up on Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity from coming here. Besides, some people on the PSO Forums are making an English Patch for it. Guess it’s time for me to buy an actual copy of Infinity. In case you’re wondering, unlike Vanilla, you CAN’T play online with a pirated copy of the game since you need the code that comes with the game to play online.

Anyway once I level up my female Cast to around 150, I’ll convert my save to Japanese and import it to Infinity.

Oh and some Chinese people decrypted most, if not all of the DLC for Infinity, PM if interested.

i havent played but i have heard that “where my heart is” is quite an incredible game. ive been meaning to check it out and will at some point…

Man why the fuck would you take your game off the store like, god SEGA is dumba s shit.

So I’ve heard talk of problems with the JPN Vita launch units. What issues have presented themselves and are this software fixable?

Personally the handheld holds up fine hardware-wise. The OS is a cluttered mess. A lot of good ideas like Near and LiveArea, but whoever designed the OS must like having their Windows PC desktop filled with hundreds of icons and shortcuts.

Main thing that annoys the fuck outta me is the PSP emulator. Touch the screen for a couple seconds during a game, and it brings up an option menu (filtering, map face buttons to analog, etc). Great. The screen is so fucking huge, it’s really hard to avoid touching it during gameplay. So I play an arcade-style game, my thumb ends up on the screen, the option menu comes up, the controls freeze while the option screen is on, and I’m dead. They have to fix this with a firmware update. PSP on Vita is unplayable as far as I’m concerned. Maybe change it so you touch the screen dead center to bring up the options.

I wonder if we beg enough, if we can get an XMB theme on Vita…

I called the memory cards killing Vita in utero.

Fuckin’ Sony…

I really wanted this to be a hit.
