Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

Well the one on Soul Calibur 4 was lame so I didn’t really expect some kind of Story Mode. There’s no Arcade mode but in place of that, there is this Quick Match thing where you have a list of opponents you pick from, each has their own record and once you beat them you can get their title and use it in custom character or your profile which shows up in 2player matches.

Then there’s The Gauntlet which is the closest to Story mode. Story isn’t canon but you go through a little scene and then you do missions and progress onto the next chapter. There is Trials, 2 varieties, Attack ,Defense and Endless mode which is presumably a mix of both and keeps going. The create a character appears in this one too but I just got it so I don’t know how deep it is yet.

Been thinking about getting one before the psp go comes out, how is ff disidia and FF tactics? Prolly the only two games ill play unless i find the mmx remake.
I doubt ill do the emu part as much as i want to play super metroid on the go but i suck when it comes to hacking.

Man I should really post in this thread more…well I have two PSP Phats that got no play for like the last three years so I went ahead and updated one thats CFW and one thats just a regular PSP phat. I was playing Killzone Liberation or whatever the other day and the sound just cuts out so im like ok…I go into the boot menu and flash my settings whatever and my sound is back. Now I can do anything play games, isos etc, but, if I touch the Volume buttons I have to flash and start over again. Its not that bad its just a little annoying and its obviously not a hardware malfuction(?) Anyway im looking to get that FF disidia and play it once I get a bigger stick so that I can play it.

Taito, is there anything specific I need to do in order to install the plug in you mentioned a few pages back? It would do me a lot of good.

My copy of Metal Gear Solid on PSX did not work. I want to play it, but I hate buying things twice. I was hoping to rip my copy, and just play the game. My copy of Azure Dreams worked just fine.

Anyone know if the PSN store version of Metal Gear Solid works on 5.50 Gen-B?

What do you need help on?

Game Categories?

Just dl the file I linked to directly onto your PSP. In the .rar file, drag the folder called ‘seplugins’ to the memory stick root folder.

The important thing is to make sure that the plugin (.prx file) is located in ms0:\seplugins, and there’s a ‘vsh.txt’ that has the location of the plugin written down already. The .rar file already has that taken care of, but that’s what you should troubleshoot if it’s not working.

While you’re in USB mode, you can go ahead and make new folders in ms0:\PSP\GAME. Make new folders and call them what you want, but prefix them with ‘CAT_’ ex. ‘CAT_PS1’ or ‘CAT_apps.’ Throw all the games and homebrews in the right folders.

Then go into Recovery Mode (shut the PSP down, then flick the On switch while holding down R), go to the Plugins menu, and activate the Game Categories plugin. Then go back to the main menu and select Return to VSH. You should be good to go. The Game menu should list your new folders (ex. PS1, apps) and their contents. You can switch the category modes from the XMB’s System Settings menu.

^What FW are you talking about?

Firmware? Game Categories is just a .prx plugin for M33 and GEN CFWs…

Forgive me if this has been discussed but I looked at the past couple pages and didn’t see anything.

Regarding downloaded PSP games, can you have games downloaded from multiple accounts on one PSP? Say I had a game from an american PSN account and a japanese PSN account, would I be able to put them on the same PSP?

You have to sign into the different PSN account/region to get the corresponding game to run, iirc.

you would have to re-register the system for games that were bought with different accounts. essentially registering the system every time you wanted to play a game from another psn id.

if you have a hacked psp, you could just dl the game from psn without having to re-register anything.

Ah, didn’t know that. The only plugins I use cwcheat and cxmb.

Am I the only one excited about Pixeljunk Monsters on PSP?

Any advice on fixing my brother’s PSP 2000?

When the power is turned to on, the power light goes green for a fraction of a second. Then the system does nothing. Different batteries don’t make a difference. Memory sticks don’t either(not that I expect them to, generally). It even does the same thing if plugged in. The battery seems to charge, if has had time to drain, as well, but the PSP itself is a no go. Been going on for at least 4-5 months.

Sounds like a brick, maybe?

Maybe. Had been a long time since he last played it, then he went to play Disgaea one day, and the problem had started.

Do you know about Popstation and the different versions of POPS? I had to do some messing around to get my DQ VII to work. Read this NeoGAF thread for some really good info on POPS. Its a little time consuming, but worth it.

Ah, that’s a bummer. Planning on getting the PSP GO so no idea how easy it’ll be to hack (I’m sure it’ll be done eventually).

I guess I’ll just stick with a JP account until P3P is released stateside.

Wow! Thank you very much for the link. I followed the guide, and added the files I needed. Now it works!

Oh, I also downgraded to 5.00 M33-6. I miss all the animated theme stuff from 5.50 Gen-B though. Just seems more was made for M33-6 than Gen.

So I will wait to see which version gets updated and supported more in the next few months. Since this DAX guy seems to be taking a break for a while.

Ninja Edit: Ok, I read something that you can play PSP games online through Ad-hoc mode. Has anyone gotten this to work? I read the instructions, and it seemed like it is hard to do and pretty sketchy to begin with. Has it stabilized, or even worth it? I have just been reading up and I keep reading conflicting reports. Some say it is awesome, and others say it was a lot of work with little benefits.
