I’m thinking about picking up b/w. Its been years since i played a pokemon game but i was a huge fan back in the day how does it stack up to the older ones? I think i skipped a generation…or two
I think it stacks up rather well, if not better. b/w does a good job filling in memorable pokemon from the previous generations, for example
tumburr = machop
rocknrolla = geodude
patrat = ratata
pidove = pidgey
pansear = flareon
panpour - vaporen
pansage - jolteon (though he’s grass, you get the picture)
the soundtrack/tunes are slightly better, and so the graphics.
is zorua any good?
offensively yes! there’s still a problem though, dark type pokemon don’t get many great moves with high bases. That’s the case zoura, it’s high special attack won’t be put to use until it learns night daze so you’ll have to give it flamethrower or shadowball when it evolves. It gets foul play, which is nice. Nasty Plot can make it a deadly special sweeper.

After several attempts was finally able to beat standard singles. Mienshao gives me lots of trouble whenever it pops up since it seems to outspeed everything I’ve thrown at it so far. I had surprising success with my Jolly Raticate I caught in the Dreamyard basement (I try to train a Raticate every game regardless of how much it sucks compared to other Guts users; it’s tradition), but I really want to get an Archeops with a good nature for a lead at some point.
The subway makes routine stops at Shenanigans Square and Crit-Hax Central.
I open with Protect so Flame Orb can go off and activate Guts.
Rufflet uses Tail Wind! (Now it out-speeds me)
Rufflet uses Sky Drop! (Burn damage in mid-air)
Raticate hit the ground! (Crit)
Raticate is knocked out!
Honchkrow used Brave Bird! (98%-ish damage on Amoongus)
Amoongus used Spore! (Zzzzzz)
Amoongus used Synthesis! (50% health)
Amoongus used Synthesis! (100% health)
Amoongus used Sludge Bomb! (Crit)
Honchkrow is knocked out!
Yeah. They always have that bullshit stall pokemon that has double team and toxic and leftovers. Thank god my Haxorus basically sweeps the entire standard singles by himself. I already got 3 of my battle items

Which version do you have, Negrotron? Because if you’re playing White, you can trade a Petlil for a Cottonee in Nacrene City(where the 2nd gym is). Unfortunately, it’s always Modest, but it has a 31 speed IV also, so if you just soft reset for gender, you could breed it at least…

I managed to catch a neutral natured female with Prankster so I just cut my losses. :wonder:

…This is what happens when I get out of the game since Emerald. And that wasn’t even competitive Emerald. All of this makes me contemplate learning and possibly getting into it when I get a 3DS, and it might make me go out and get B/W. Interesting indeed.
