A defensive wall with great typing and access to Stealth Rock, Spikes and Leech Seed all at once along with Iron Barbs ability and if you want it over Leftovers, Rocky Helmet Hold Item? Yeah…it’s damn popular.
Ferrothorn is pretty much a hard counter to every water type and it hurts Outraging Dragons for attacking, so it fits in very well in this Metagame. It hits pretty hard for a defensive pokemon with 2 STABs that (usually) have 120 BP. Although it doesn’t have a recovery move, it can get its HP back pretty quickly with Leech Seed and Protect. It can also cripple would be counters with T-wave.
Rapid Spin, Volt Switch, and T Spikes are pretty much the only thing that Forretress has over Ferrothorn. I guess Pain Split and that crutch of an ability Sturdy could be useful at times, though.
Makes sense but still a stretch considering how many Pokemon learn moves that they don’t deserve. It’s funny how a few gens ago Magmar for some retarded reason couldn’t learn Overheat as well.
Kingdra has always been my favorite Dragon type, it’s one of the few Pokemon (along with Porygon2, Dragonite and Zapdos) that have some of the nicest stat spreads for my style of play.
Has it been found out if BW2 put auto leveling back in for local battles?

Meh. A bunch of Pokemon still don’t have stuff that seems they “should” get when other Pokemon have it or not enough Pokemon have gotten it, i.e. Flare Blitz Flareon, Rapid Spin Miltank, Acid Spray Seviper, etc.
The biggest troll that I can remember is Dragonite not being able to learn Fly in RBY. Not that I would want to teach it Fly and be stuck with that HM move or anything, but something that has wings cannot fly? What kind of ass-backwards thinking is that??!

Glad to see Metagross still OU even after how whack Gen V is. He’s fallen a bit from grace because 130 atk isn’t as great as it used to be (which is telling), and Pokemon like Conkeldurr have higher attack and can be potentially bulkier, but Gross’ typing/stats/movepool are all just too well-rounded for him to really drop out.

Yeah, those two learning Surf, especially with how allergic to Water they are, is kinda odd, but you could at least maybe ass pull an explanation with Aggron since that gets Magnet Rise; pity it can’t use it since it remains deathly vulnerable to Fighting attacks even while floating…
As for Rhyperior, yeah…I’ve got nothing really. Closest to an “explanation” I can think of it is that Rhydons everywhere trained under Surf Pikachu to get stronger after they saw episode where Ash’s Pikachu attacked Blaine’s Rhydon’s horn…and it worked.

That board must lack Flareon or something. Otherwise, Flareon is used as an official “do-over” spot.
It still kinda weirds me out that Acupressure is kinda usable or, at least, not nearly as useless as you think it would be for something completely “random”.

Seriously, though. That would be so horrible with the way the EV system works. It was fine in Gen 1 and 2 when you could have max EVs in each stat, but it would be horribly broken now with the 510 EV limitation.
Yeah, physical special split was one of the few really good decisions made by GF.

When it comes to stats, I’m not really sure I ever see Gamefreak touching those again. The only thing that I think they could even do is maybe split Speed along Physical and Special lines, which could be…interesting. Probably bad, but interesting.
Sunkern and Sunflora would probably still be unbearably slow pieces of excrement, though.
Meh. Pokemon generating any type of energy is pretty standard, as evidenced by (sigh) Hidden Power. Unless you just mean Tauros is horrible at using Blizzard post-RBY, then yeah, pretty much.
Also, as people have said, re-merging SpA and SpD into just Special is a terrible idea, which is surprising because your ideas are usually rather decent. Why would you even suggest that?

He might be referring to Hydreigon, although it does at least have levitate.
Normal types moves were overpowered in RBY. Physically, Body Slam was the best move outside probably Hyper Beam or EQ. What made Tarous dangerous was the fact that his Body Slam AND Hyper Beam were STABs, which made Blizzard a good compliment to deal with the likes of Rhydon or Golem trying to wall him.
I agree about the special split being one of GFs most favoritable moves. Mewtwo under these conditions simply could not be countered, period. If he got an Amnesia best thing you could hope for is Selfdestruct Snorlax w/critical hax or have a light screen up with Chansey out. I don’t think any uber in this past decade comes close to the raw power of RBY Mewtwo.
