I’m sad that Houston got rid of Ariza but I understand why. Good thing they have Kevin Martin.
Ariza’s contract is a little big for a guy who will just play defense well and space the floor…which is what he’s going to turn back into now that Houston has Kevin Martin. So it makes sense to dump him for salary reasons, although they would have been just that much better with him still. Courtney Lee’s a bad replacement for Ariza at SF though. Not great.
Jersey got better in talent, I guess. Maybe they are looking to swing Murphy at the deadline for something if Favours doesn’t get it yet. Lee gets replaced by Terrance Williams now…actually this trade is pretty solid for New Jersey. LOL, instead of using their cap for LeBron, they end up absorbing Troy Murphy’s fat contract instead. Oh well, try again next year, he’s expiring at least.
The Hornets didn’t do much with Collison…I thought they’d be able to trade him for something better. Ariza would make a good team (ie. Houston) great, but I don’t think he’ll do much in making a bad team (ie. New Orleans) good. Dumping Posey doesn’t matter much because they’re taking on Ariza’s big contract instead, so the money situation doesn’t even really improve that much at all - it gets worse, actually. Ariza can be considered overpaid. They have strongly committed to a core of Ariza + Okafor now…these are not great reasons for Chris Paul to un-request a trade.
The Hornets are fucking dumb, the more I think about it the worse this trade is for them.
Sweet trade for Indiana though, perfect point guard for them.

This shocks me though, as Wright is neither white nor European. However he plays decent defense and seems like a hustle guy, so I think three weeks in we will be proclaiming him as the greatest Raptor of all time.
