I’m reading the news and I still don’t get why David Stern blocked this trade. Is it because he wants to protect the smaller team market? Someone enlighten me.

Because NO is owned by the NBA that means each owner owns part of The Hornets. So the majority of the owners decided they did not want that trade to go through. It really is that simple, that is why I say the NBA should never own a team.
I support this trade, send him to the nets for whoever and pair him up with deron williams for some serious damage in the eastern conference. They prolly won’t be good enough to make a playoff run, but they could prolly make a run for the playoffs. Plus it further bolsters balance in the nba since you’ll have the heat, bulls, knicks, celtics and nets as the eastern super powers. Only issue I have with this trade is, as a raptor fan it would pretty much mean we are gonna be at the bottom of our division for the next 5 years what with since 3 of the aforementioned teams are from my division.

This also hurts the Mavs in the effect that they could have used their Amnesty on Haywood, now they have to keep him. Looking back at the CP3 trade now, it does not look nearly as bad as it did acouple hours ago. It was still a bullshit trade but not the worst that has ever been made.
The Wizards are fucking dumb saying they want to keep Rashard Lewis with that ridiculous contract he has and NOT Amnesty him.
Well if I remember correctly they actually need his salary to meet the minimum salary requirements, and they don’t want to load up on someone new and blow their chances (lol yeah right) next summer - even though realisitically - NOW is the time to strike FOR next summer.
Dallas just took an L period - losing Chandler AND Caron. I’m not familiar enough with their cap situation/FA, but losing Chandler is enough for me to blow up the roster…priority would be keep Terry cause I think he’s a RFA, Dirk is still locked, and I’d chase Nene and CP3. It would allow Terry to stay off ball in a SG role, give them a big body to fil lthe hole left by Chandler, it would inject YOUTH - that they need so badly. I think they would benefit from Rondo also…but they are in my ‘blow it up while you can get something’ phase - the Wizards ignored me, and ended up getting shit for Jamison, shit for Caron, and Gilbert transformed into Rashard Lewis. Don’t be that Dallas.

Gilbert must have forgotten how he acquired Shaq for peanuts or Jamison for Ilgauskas who he resigned 30 days later.
Nearly every trade the Mavs have made since 2008 has been a bit shady but no one has complained about it.
I hated the trade at first because I would prefer to lose Drew over Pau, but I was hearing that would could have possible gotten David West and we would have gotten a 8.9mil TPE in the deal which could have been used for piece.
I still don’t see how you can alienate three fans bases just because a couple of owners were salty.
It wasn’t just acouple of owners, it was the majority of the owners. Basically all but 3-5 owners said they wanted it vetoed.
