I have no idea why so many guys watch the new My Little Pony. I don’t have cable so I can’t offer an opinion on that…
I just know from past history that some little girls’ shows do attract large male audiences. That was the case for Sailor Moon. There was a huge male audience for the anime series around the world! The first Anime Expo I went to (1994), I saw grown men in their 30’s/40’s buying laserdiscs of that series – in Japanese, no English dub or subs!
It freaked me out a little bit but I don’t see the harm anymore. Most of the guys watching these shows are not pedophiles or weirdos beyond the sense that they find entertainment in this kiddie stuff and like the moral messages.
As for me, it’s a bit too sugary and cute for my tastes. Heck, I HATE stuff like Dora the Explorer and Barney so I’m hardly the most objective observer.
P.S. – The PowerPuff Girls was NOT a kids’ show…

As for the show, from the few clips online I’ve seen of it, it’s a pretty cute show. That being said, I have no earthly clue how anyone could sexualize those characters.
You’d be surprised how much pony ass fills the screen.
It’s one of those things where you just sit there and wonder “OK why did they even draw this”.
I like the show, I am just not obsessed with it like some people are. People are just so quick to label another person for liking it, I don’t enjoy it because it has ponies in it, I enjoy it because it puts me in a good mood, its funny and it appeals to more than just little girls…Whatever though haha

We just do. Deal with it. Basically this show came along at exactly the right time: everything else animated at that point either sucked, or was good but the series had ended or gone on a ridiculously long hiatus (Generator Rex, Ben 10), so a LOT more people had the free time to check it out cuz well, “Ain’t shit on tv but this”. And surprise, it wasn’t the girly shit that mlp g3 was…it was some semi-ppg with catchy random songs. And it was good. Now, as for these neckbeards at pony-con or whatever they call it…you can always trust SOME people to take shit to ridiculous, obsessive lengths that causes embarrassment for others with a normal interest in the same subject. Don’t mean to sound racist, the pic below is a prime example of the demographic of the overly enthused/obsessed.
It’s a great show, but goddamn, man, show some dignity.
