I have a quick question the daughter board is dead is there a way to use my kitty still ? I have the TE S if it makes any difference
[S]Hey guys, following step 8 of Toodles’ guide to to installing the TE Kitty, it says to connect H ribbon cable into the TE board header marked XGUILD. In the SFxT pro stick, this board header has 7 pins, but the ribbon cable only has 6 connectors. What should I do in this case?[/S]
edit: NEVER MIND I AM AN IDIOT
hey there toodles, i just placed an order for a TE kitty via paypal (finally) and was wondering how long it may be before i receive it (im in BC canada).
also i dont need to order anything else with it do I? just want to make sure in case theres something else i need to wire it all up.
thanks a lot!
It was sent as an echeck, so paypal says not to ship until it clears, so 6-8 days before shipping, and another 7-14 days shipping time.
As for what you need, you should check if your TE version requires one of the VS or TE harnesses. Details in the second post of the thread.
Hey toodles any ideas after this troubleshooting step?
my TE was in the first batch that was released, the start/back buttons still work when locked. so i guess i dont need anything extra according to the 2nd post.
Hey Toodles, this is the 3rd stick im installing the Kitty board on. I’m doing the testing part and the Start and Guide buttons aren’t working. Any ideas?
Ill recheck wiring while waiting for a response. Let me know if you need a pic of the setup or whatever.
Thanks
Pro-tip: troubleshoot, then ask Toodles. Never visa versa.
Ok so i reconnected everything. Guide seems to work but i cant get start to work. I dont know where/how to test the start button
Ok messing around some more i think i just fried it for 360 because that isnt working now and Start button still doesnt work. Any suggestions
If you talking to me I did your troubleshooting steps, was waiting for a response or any ideas. There is only 2 ways of hooking up usb to the board to flash it I tried both. Im trying to figure out if the board is dead and I just need to order another.
All I have to work with here is ‘it was kinda working, I did stuff, now its kinda working less’.
So, start with undoing what you did, then seeing what you did differently from your first two installs. Re-doing it from scratch is always an option.
Or, you could post up all of the relevant information about the stick and the install to see if anyone can spot anything.
And if you think you’ve posted up all of the relevant information, you havent. Me House, you guest star. We can have five commercial breaks and spontaneous cancer, or everything you’d ever done detailed up front and 45 seconds to correct answer.
Nope, that was all for Yammers.
Do you get the ‘ding dong’ on plug in or any errors pop up? Wait, you cut ‘n’ pasted from a DOS box; does Device Manager show any change, especially in Unknown Devices or HID Devices, when plugged in?
I think I have a bad crimp on one of the ribbon connectors from one of my TE Kitty kits I bought recently. Any chance of a replacement?
no ding dong, no pop up errors, no device manager changes at all
(just fyi I tested my rj-45 to usb cable on my friends tekitty i installed and it comes up on the pc fine, so cables good and pc is good)
Hey Toodles. I grabbed 2 of the TE-S cable kits along with 2 TE-Kittys to put in my new sticks. Shipping was fast, thanks for that.
Anyway, first install went fine. The second looks good, however RT doesn’t work (doesn’t activate at all, no led, no button press registered in Windows controller settings).
It looks like one of the ribbons on the ‘6’ cable might have been put into the wrong spot. Specifically, the ribbon going from RT on the TE pcb connector to the Kitty connector looks like it was put into the KGRND spot, which is maybe shorting out that button? Multimeter shows everything looking okay until I put the 6 cable back into the Kitty, then the RT pins act as a ground for all other contact points.
Any chance I could get a new cable, or is there a way for me to fix it myself? Here’s a picture (sorry for the awful quality):

Edit: I fixed it by digging the crimped cable out of the molex connector for KGRND and moved it over to RT. I’ll leave the rest of the post up as a general reference.
Sending out a replacement isn’t a problem, but shipping to Oz is a problem. I can send you one out via first class mail if you’ll give me your info so I can find your order.

I have tried looking, to I apologize if I missed this and am reposting a question:
Could one install the VXL Kitty in a PS3 VLX and them use one of the etokki PS2 to 360 converters?
I ran into a problem possibly similar to scene123’s problem. My strong button isn’t working at all. Not registering in windows game controller settings or LED light up. The rest of the buttons work fine in both modes during testing. This is my first time modding myself and I’m not sure where to begin troubleshooting. I tried pushing down on all the wires to make sure they were in tight. I uploaded pics of the job in an album so you can take a look to see if it looks good.
Note: I did a poor job on the USB cable, could that be the problem? The button was working before the mod. Also, this is a MadCatz VS stick (with the VS kit from Toodles).
Edit: Did a little troubleshooting of my own tonight and found that the “5” ribbon connector from the button distribution board to the original VS pcb is the problem. I plugged the original ribbon connector in and tested the buttons out in forced Xbox mode on my pc and it detects all of the buttons. I guess I’ll contact you for a replacement.
Has anyone had problems with the JLF cutting out after installing the TE kitty? Every once in a while my stick will cut out, although the buttons still work. I’m not sure if the problem lies in the TE Kitty, my original PCB, or the JLF Pcb. Just seeing if someone here has had similar problems.
Could be the cable, could be a number of things.
Does this happen in both 360 and PS3 mode?
