Hi, first of all Toodles great work, fast shipping, love the support.
I hate to post up with yet another problem, but here goes.
Stick is a blazblue TE-S.
No matter what I do, I can’t get the thing to work in xbox 360 mode. I built the entire thing the first time, xbox 360 mode didn’t work during the testing phase, ignored it and kept going. Stick works perfectly on ps3. All the buttons on the thing and the stick check out. Obviously dissatisfied with xbox not working, I took it all completely apart and started again from 0, double and triple checking everything.
First, checked direct USB to the TE board - shows up in windows as madcatz blazblue TE. This should mean the original board is fine, right?
Lock switch set to unlock, plug in with guide held down, p1 and p4 light up - even flashed it OK.
Pressed buttons have the daughter board light up.
But, setting slider to RS and then holding down either turbo or back and plugging it in, the daughter board lights up with p2-3 and then p1-4 for a split second, and then nothing. No beeps from windows USB, same reaction with xbox.
Plugging it in no buttons pressed has the stick show up as unrecognized USB device.
Device manager shows it as HID-compliant game device.
Have checked all the cables and everything a million times over. No idea what’s wrong. Please advice?
Edit: Took a multimeter and checked some things - on the actual USB screw-down terminal (and the solder leads on the board), I get 0 signal between the slots for the two reds and the two greens. Whites have connection, and so do the blacks. In other words, when kitty wants to passthrough to the other USB cable (to TE board), the red/power and data/green aren’t getting through. This right ?
Sounds like you have a bad RJ-45 crimp job on the PSX cables, you should talk to gummowned about replacing them, or recrimp them yourself if you have the ability. RJ-45 crimping can be tricky sometimes, even when doen right sometimes they will need to be done again because the crimp didn’t go into the wires properly.
Just wanted to share that I got my TE Kitty a few days ago, and finally got around to installing it last night. Everything works perfectly, this is a fantastic product and I’ll be sure to keep it in mind when my friends are looking to dual mod. Thanks so much!
Wow. SuperMarino pretty much beat me to my own post here. =P
Wanted to hop in and say the same. Just installed a Kitty into a friend’s TE-S last night. Without a doubt it was the most painless stick mod I’ve ever done. Took me about the length of the first X-Men movie, with me being distracted by the movie half the time and double checking instructions the other half. While I’ve often been a fan of your creations, I’m completely blown away by the ease and power behind the Kitty. You’ve made a wonderful thing here Toodles. =)
Finally done with mine, works perfectly on my computer! Had one or two problems, but I just had to go through all the connections one more time to get them sorted.
With that said, to play on the 360, hold Turbo or Back on RS (and unlock) before plugging it in. Are there any special instructions for PS3 or is it just plug-and-play?
Kitty will auto-detect 360. It’s entirely plug and play.
You can force 360 mode on PC, but in most applications there’s zero issue (you actually get an extra button to map in the guide/home button) with it in Kitty mode.
I’ve tried everything and it turns out that the 360 board must have shorted when I turned the power on that day. Fortunately, everything works from the PS3 side of things so not all hope is lost. But now I have a trickier problem. Either get a replacement TE PCB or solder an Xbox controller with the TE Kitty.
Does anyone know if the if the official MvC3 TE (as apposed to the MvC one that came out with the digital version of MvC2) is classified as a round1, round2, or TE-S? I have no idea if i need the extra harness or not.
Here it gets tricky.
The original run of Round 2 TE has original TE PCB.
It is only recently that the new run of Round 2 TE use PCB with new Lock Switch.
